Sasuke Uchiha (うちはサスケ, Uchiha Sasuke) is the deuteragonist of the series and one of the survivors of the Uchiha clan. He is the son of Fugaku Uchiha and Mikoto Uchiha, brother of Itachi Uchiha, as well as the current reincarnation of Indra Ōtsutsuki. Despite forming relationships with the members of Team Kakashi, Sasuke decided to defect from Konohagakure in search of the power necessary to avenge his clan and kill Itachi. Sasuke wishes to fight the Konoha elders and kill them for being the culprits of the destruction of the Uchiha Clan (originally, he wanted to fight and kill Itachi, but later learned that they influenced him). Sasuke's favorite foods are omusubi with Okaka and tomatoes, he doesn't like sweet things. Sasuke has completed 16 official missions in total: 7 D-Rank, 1 C-Rank, 2 B-Rank, 6 A-Rank, 0 S-Rank. Sasuke's favorite word is power (力, chikara). Sasuke is Kishimoto's favorite character. He confirmed this in an interview, saying that he was the most difficult character to draw, and therefore his favorite, as it was a challenge for him to draw. Sasuke and Naruto share a very clear similarity as Sasuke has created a wide variety of Chidori and Naruto has created a wide variety of Rasengan. It is still unknown how Sasuke made a contract with the hawks to summon them along with the snakes. He is the only character along with Madara Uchiha who is known to have fought against the 5 Kages, and survived, although he had help from Obito Uchiha and Taka. Sasuke has been able to defeat an Akatsuki single-handedly in battle, something that only Naruto (Pain and Kakuzu), Shikamaru (Hidan), Obito (Konan) and Might Guy (Kisame) have achieved. Sasuke had a drastic change of element, formerly using the Fire Release as an auxiliary and the Lightning Release as the main one. Since he discovered the Mangekyō Sharingan, he began to use the Fire Release as the main one and the Lightning Release as an auxiliary.

In episode #351 of Naruto: Shippūden, a ninja similar to Sasuke could be seen killed by a group of shinobi from the Senju Clan. For a time it was unknown how much the absence of his left arm had affected him when engaging in a fight, until his fierce fight against Kinshiki Ōtsutsuki, in which he demonstrated exceptional mastery in battle, despite his physical deficiency. He is the only one of Team 7 who does not have a characteristic phrase (Naruto has the phrase "Dattebayo" and Sakura "Shānnarō"). Both Sasuke and Naruto are associated with the Shinto gods Raijin of thunder (the symbol of the Sharingan is the same as this god) and Fūjin of the winds respectively, even the affinity of the nature of each has to do with the element in question, lightning for the Uchiha and wind for the Uzumaki. So far, Sasuke is the only original manga character capable of summoning two different species of animals (without possessing the Rinnegan). According to the second Databook, Itachi was everything to Sasuke.
