Appearance

Jean Bart wears a pirate-inspired outfit, consisting of a black jacket with gold fringes and epaulettes, a black dress, a red corset, black shorts, a black knee boot on her left leg, a regular boot on her right leg, a single striped thigh-high, and a single red glove. She also carries a large French flag with the Vichy battle-ax in the middle. Her rigging is similar to her sister Richelieu, but her gun coverings are painted black, and she uses 100mm twin mounts instead of 152mm triple mounts as secondary armament. She also has a bridge structure holding the two sides together, but it lacks the mast and radars of her sister for historical reasons.

History

In real life, Jean Bart was under construction when France was occupied by Germany in 1940. She was hastily evacuated to Casablanca, Morocco, where she was anchored when the Allies invaded in November 1942. During the invasion, Jean Bart exchanged fire with the American battleship Massachusetts, and was severely damaged. After the war, Jean Bart was turned over to the Allies. She was not completed until 1949, and was decommissioned a decade later.
