Appearance

Obanai is a young man of short stature. He has shoulder-length black hair with long bangs. Obanai was born with heterochromia, which is why his eyes are different: his right eye is yellow and his left eye is turquoise. He is partially blind and can barely see out of his right eye.[4] When he was twelve, his mouth was cut down to his ears, resulting in a scar that he hides under a mask of bandages.[5] Obanai wears a dark blue demon slayer uniform with a black and white striped haori over it. His legs are wrapped in bandages from the middle of his shins to his ankles, and he is shod in blue dawns. Usually on his shoulders is a white snake, Kaburamaru. As a child, Obanai had waist-length hair tied with a white ribbon. He was wearing a regular white kimono. During the battle with Muzan, Obanai and the other pillars were hit by the demon's whips, causing Obanai to receive three long scratches on his eyes and become completely blind.[4]

Character

Obanai was a very inquisitive person, but slightly suspicious and behaved with caution in any situation. Obanai did not like hunters who violated the rules of demon slayers and immediately stopped their negligent attitude towards him, as he did with Tanjiro at the trial. He often used harsh language towards those he perceived as a threat, making it appear that he was a very callous person. However, over time, we got to know a different side of Obanai: he was very attached to Mitsuri. This is confirmed by the girl’s memories of the gift that Obanai gave her. In addition, the guy was clearly jealous of Mitsuri because Tanjiro was having fun with her during training. Obanai was always ready to stand up for her, as for a person dear to him. He often spent time with her. Obanai also hated himself greatly due to the fact that he was born into a selfish and immoral clan that made sacrifices to the demon for their own monetary gain. Obanai considered his family tainted and was sure that he had to die and be reborn as a different person before he could become worthy of Mitsuri and confess his feelings to her.

Story

Obanai had a very difficult childhood. He was the only boy in his family for the last 370 years. Obanai was kept in a wooden cage where his family brought food for him. One day, when he was 12, he was released from his cage and brought into a room decorated with gold, where the snake demon was located. As it turns out, the snake demon didn't kill him right away thanks to his unusual eyes. After examining Obanai, the snake demon ordered two women to cut his mouth to make him like her. Having survived this, he realized that he needed to escape as quickly as possible. Having sharpened the wooden bars with a stolen hairpin, Obanai escaped with his snake friend Kaburamaru, whom he had befriended in a cage. But the snake demon immediately found out about this and chased after him, before killing 50 people from his family. Obanaya saved the pillar of flame from those times and brought it back. Obanai's only surviving cousin screamed at him, saying that if he had not run away, the family would still be alive. So Obanai decides to become a Pillar to protect others from ruthless demons.

Kaburamaru is able to read enemy attacks and transmit this information to Obanai. This technique is shown in full force when Obanai is completely blinded by Muzan, but is still able to fight as if nothing happened. Transparent World (透すき通とおる世せ界かい, Sukitōru Sekai?) - During the battle with Muzan, after Gyomei's guidance, Obanai managed to gain access to the Transparent World. Endurance - Obanai was able to continue the fight longer than anyone, despite many injuries. Even after Muzan's prolonged attacks, Obanai still had the strength to jump higher than a multi-story building and recover from being pierced by the wall and punched by Muzan. He survived even Muzan's cuts on his face, losing his eyes and his piercing bite to his shoulder in the process. Breathing style

Master Swordsman: As a Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps, Obanai was one of the strongest and most skilled swordsmen in the entire organization. This was shown during the Pillars Training Arc, where he was tasked with teaching all the other Demon Slayers sword techniques. Obanai uses a unique swordplay style that uses sliding movements to bend his sword and attack in impossible ways, allowing him to pass through narrow openings with ease despite wielding a standard wooden sword. His mastery of the sword allowed him to keep up with the Demon King himself, Muzan Snake Breath (蛇へびの呼こ吸きゅう, Hebi no kokyū?) is a Breathing Style that Obanai created and mastered himself. This style of swordsmanship uses twists and turns, similar to how a snake slithers, to attack in strange ways. Obanai also learned to incorporate his favorite snake, Kaburamaru, into this Breathing Style.

Breathing style techniques

First Style: Snake Strike (壱いちノ型かた 委い蛇だ斬ぎり, Ichi no kata: Ida giri?)[7] - The user spins and performs a circular strike in front of them. Second style: Poisonous snake fangs (弐にノ型かた狭きょう頭ずの毒どく牙が, Ni no kata: Kyōzu no Dokuga?)[8] - Obanai, like a snake, at high speed goes behind the opponent’s back and quickly cuts off his head. Third Style: Writhing Onslaught (参さんノ型かた 塒とぐろ締じめ, San no kata: Toguro Jime?)[9] - The swordsman wraps a giant snake around his opponent from all sides. Weapon

Twisted Nichirin Katana: Obanai carries a heavily modified Nichirin katana, similar in appearance to the Indonesian Kris sword, with the sword's shape modeled as waves resembling a writhing snake, lavender in color. The hilt of his katana has a golden circular shape, which is engraved with two snakes connected by several plant designs. The words "Demon Destroyer" are engraved on the side. Obanai also carries a special leather sheath, held together by a weak magnetic pull, which opens whenever he uses his katana. It is designed in such a way that Obanai draws his sword vertically rather than horizontally.
