Zenitsu is a young man of medium height with fair skin and downcast worried eyes that change color from pale brown to golden, and golden forked eyebrows that abruptly turn into a warm orange color. He has short yellow hair of different lengths, cut exactly at the ends, where they turn into a darker orange color, which fall on his face in an uneven bang, slightly resembling a cup-shaped haircut. Before he became a Demon Slayer, Zenitsu's hair was originally black, but it acquired its current color when he was struck by lightning during training. He wears a paler brown version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform, which consists of a dark brown button-down jacket, a white belt around the waist and expanding hakama tatsuke pants, as well as his signature haori with a white triangular pattern and a yellow-orange gradient. Personality:

Zenitsu is cowardly, weak-willed and anxious, often stating that he does not have long to live because of the dangerous work of the Demon Slayer. He has a rather low self-esteem, despite his talent and strength, he even considers himself useless. This became apparent when he couldn't believe that he had killed a demon, and instead tricked himself into believing that it was Shoichi, even though the latter was a small child with no skills. Zenitsu is in a constant state of fear, and he often tries to run away at the sight of danger, claiming that he wants to live a modest, normal life, and not the life of a Demon Slayer. Because of this, Zenitsu shouts a lot, much to the annoyance of the people around him. He is also shown to be pessimistic at times, especially during Hashira's workout, where he lashed out at Tanjiro and Inosuke for taking a positive view of the workout. Despite his weaknesses, Zenitsu wants to live up to the expectations that others place on him, and will try his best when necessary. He has great respect for his comrades and his deceased teacher, Jigoro Kuwajima, and his inner concentration and desire to avenge him help to get rid of cowardice and reflection when he finds himself in a difficult situation. Zenitsu also hates himself for how cowardly and incompetent he is, despite his sincere desire to become a better person. It is also shown that Zenitsu is somewhat of a womanizer, stemming from the desire not to be alone if he is killed. He tends to hit on girls he thinks are cute and asks them to marry him, much to their annoyance.

Personality:

It is shown that this dissolute character prevails over his obedient and quiet character, especially when he believes that his comrades are "flirting" with pretty girls; he breaks down and bursts into long hysterical tirades and complaints. Zenitsu is shown to be strongly attracted to Nezuko, openly expressing his affection for her and always rushing to protect her, as if by instinct. At this time, he also becomes physically aggressive, lashing out at people in desperation. However, despite his superficial behavior in this regard, Zenitsu really shows respect for women, telling Ducky to let go of the girl whom Ducky almost tore off her ear, and later demanding that she apologize, completely showing no fear of an enraged demon of the Highest Rank. Despite his cowardly behavior and somewhat pathetic attempts to attract the attention of women, he rarely showed poise, he was annoyed by the antics of his comrades, such as Tanjiro's kind naivety, Inosuke's pompous personality, Kejuro's violent and vociferous character and Tengen's self-praising statements. As such, he usually quarrels with Inosuke when the latter continues his loud demands and bragging. Before the raid on Infinity Castle, Zenitsu gives a different, more serious impression, as if he is focused on something important, even ignoring Tanjiro's concern for him, as he claims that there is something he must do himself. This development occurred after receiving a letter from Chuntaro, which told about the death of his teacher and the role of Kaigaku in this. During the fight with Kaigaku, Zenitsu is harsh and becomes enraged, which causes him to angrily yell at him for disrespecting their cultivator. The sudden change surprises his former graduate, as Zenitsu shows a more mature personality compared to his usual cowardice.

Abilities:

Indomitable Will: Despite his initial cowardice and unwillingness to fight, Zenitsu nevertheless possesses indomitable willpower and spirit. This was shown when he flatly refused to let Inosuke kill the demon inside Tanjiro's lodge and defended her to the end, despite Inosuke beating him mercilessly. While he was sleeping, during the battle with Ducky, Zenitsu had the willpower to continue the fight, despite numerous incised wounds all over his body and broken legs. Thanks to pure will and anger, Zenitsu was able to overcome his cowardice and not fall asleep in the battle with demons, which was shown during his duel with Kaigaku and Muzan, especially in the battle with the latter, in which he refused to give up and persisted despite being exhausted and wounded. Tactical Intelligence: Even while fighting unconscious, Zenitsu demonstrates incredible judgment and tactical intelligence. When you fight consciously, this ability is completely released. This ability showed up best during his battle against the Sixth-rank Dacians. When Inosuke made the wrong conclusion about her weaknesses, Zenitsu correctly explained that all they had to do was detach the heads of both demons in order to kill them. After his fight with Kaigaku began, he was able to think clearly and process his techniques and demonic abilities.

Unconscious Combat: Zenitsu has the ability to fight in his sleep, which allows him to awaken his true power. While awake, his nerves and fear cause him to freeze, so he cannot move. When his life is in danger, his nerves and fear become so strong that he loses consciousness. But in his sleep, his nerves no longer hold him back, allowing him to fight and move with great judgment, precision and skill. Increased strength: Zenitsu has achieved amazing physical strength over years of rigorous training. Zenitsu can hold Inosuke Hashibira with his bare hands and throw him with his whole body, grabbing and swinging one of his legs. Most importantly, Zenitsu has incredible leg strength, which allows him to jump extremely high and move with incredible speed while performing his Thunder Breathing techniques. He was also able to damage the body of Muzan, whose body has the most durability of all the demons, which once again testifies to his incredible physical strength. Tremendous speed and reflexes: Zenitsu is extremely fast, he can easily move faster than even the eye can see. Even at the beginning of his career as a Demon Slayer, it was quite obvious that his speed far surpassed that of lower demons such as the Tongue Demon and the Son of the Spider Family. During both skirmishes, neither demon was able to hit Zenica when he was actively involved in the fight, and both were completely unable to react to the speed of his attacks. Great Stamina: Zenitsu has incredible stamina. It was shown that he continued to fight even after being exposed to the deadly poison of the Demon Spider's Son, which gradually weakened him and turned him into a spider. He was also able to protect three train carriages along with Nezuko for a long period of time without getting tired. Later, Zenitsu, along with Inosuke, fought for a long time with the Senior Sixth Rank, Daki. Even after receiving numerous wounds from the Highest Rank and subsequently being trapped under the rubble, Zenitsu still had enough stamina to use his technique twice Thunderclap and Flash: Godspeed: once to get out from under the rubble, and the second time to hit Ducky on the spot. As another evidence of his excellent sound recognition abilities, he can perfectly reproduce any melody he hears on shamisen and koto, only after listening to it once for the first time,[12] having perfect hearing, despite the lack of musical education. Zenitsu's exceptional hearing also allows him to fight in his sleep, which is an impressive achievement since he has no visual aids and can only use sound to distinguish his surroundings, keeping up with the attacks of demons. Extrasensory perception: Zenitsu's hearing allows him to hear and pick up sounds beyond the normal range of perception, such as recognizing thoughts, emotions, and even a person's personality, simply by picking up the subtle sounds they make. Moreover, he can distinguish a human from a demon by comparing the sounds they make, which also allows him to determine their strength to some extent, since Daki, a demon of the Highest rank, has a more terrible sound than ordinary demons.

Equipment:

Standard Nicirin Katana: Zenitsu carries a Nicirin katana of standard size and shape with yellow lightning stripes all over the blade. The tsuba of his sword has a round shape with four small depressions; the center is silvery with small triangles and a gold border. The handle is yellow and wrapped with white silk ribbons. The kashira on the handle is gold, two short white ribbons hang from it. Along with the katana, Zenitsu also has a standard white sword scabbard.

Zenitsu loves sweet and expensive foods (specifically "high-quality eel" (高こう級きゅう鰻むなぎ, Kōkyūna Munagi?), more commonly known as kabayaki (蒲かば燒やき, kabayaki?)), so if he hadn't become a swordsman, he'd be chubby.
