Their union produced four children over four years before Prince Viserys returned Megette to her husband, who tragically beat her to death within a year. Lady Cassella Vaith Cassella was one of the hostages taken during the Submission of Sunspear and was escorted back to King’s Landing by Aegon himself. Bellegere Otherys (the Black Pearl of Braavos) Bellegere was a captain from Braavos whom Aegon met during an envoy mission in 161 AC. Their affair lasted ten years and resulted in three children: Bellenora, Narha, and Balerion Otherys, although their paternity is questionable due to Bellegere’s numerous liaisons Lady Barba Bracken Barba caught Aegon’s attention after being released from confinement following King Baelor’s death in 171 AC. She openly became his mistress when he ascended the throne in 172 AC and bore him a son named Aegor Rivers (later known as Bittersteel). Her father became Aegon’s Hand during this time; however, after Queen Naerys recovered from childbirth complications, Barba and her family were forced away from court due to political pressures Lady Melissa Blackwood (Missy) Melissa was known for being kind-hearted and befriended Queen Naerys along with Princes Daeron and Aemon. She served as Aegon’s mistress for five years and bore him three children: Mya Rivers, Gwenys Rivers, and Brynden Rivers (later known as Bloodraven). Lady Bethany Bracken Bethany was Barba Bracken’s younger sister who aimed to replace Melissa as Aegon’s mistress around 177 AC. However, she found herself romantically involved with Ser Terrence Toyne of the Kingsguard instead. When King Aegon discovered their affair in 178 AC, he executed both Bethany and her father out of spite while torturing Toyne to death. Jeyne Lothston Jeyne is believed to be the daughter of Falena Stokeworth; she became one of Aegon’s mistresses at just fourteen years old in 178 AC but did not last long due to contracting pox from him shortly thereafter. Following this incident, she and her family were quickly sent away from court. Serenei of Lys Serenei arrived at court through Lord Jon Hightower’s influence and was rumored to possess sorcerous abilities. She bore one daughter by Aegon named Shiera Seastar before dying during childbirth. Throughout his life, Aegon Targaryen had many mistresses. From the highest-born princess to the meanest whore, Aegon made no difference between them. By the end of his life, he claimed to have slept with at least nine hundred women (the exact number he could not remember). However, out of all those women, Aegon claims to have only ever truly loved nine. His wife, Naerys Targaryen, is not counted among them.
