Ace Appearance

Despite not being blood related, Ace bore a strong resemblance to his adoptive brother, Luffy. However, Ace was much more serious than Luffy's cheerful design, and was also slightly taller and more muscular. He also sported freckles that gave him a rather childish appearance and tended to make an incredulous face expression by raising his left eyebrow. Interestingly, his facial features were almost similar to his biological father Gol D. Roger in his youth and without his mustache. Ace's tattoos are marked among his most notable features. He had a tattoo on his back with Whitebeard's symbol (purple bones forming a cross behind a purple skull with a white mustache), which he described as his pride and joy. Ace had another tattoo on his upper left bicep that read "ASCE" vertically with the "S" crossed out. Ace stopped wearing anything else on his upper body, walking around shirtless with his torso bare. He wore black boots, knee-length black pants with an orange studded eyelet ribbon, and a blue belted pouch around his left leg. He also wore a second short belt with a large net "A" on the silver buckle above his right hip, but he left it undone and threaded the free end along the back of his shorts. A dagger in a green area hung from his left hip. On Ace's left arm, he wore a pose log and a red and white striped bracelet around his wrist, an orange elbow guard, and his "ASCE" tattoo. He wore a red beaded necklace and an orange hat with two blue emoticons, a scowl and a smile, and a red beaded necklace sitting on the brim. Strengths and weaknesses of the Mera Mera No Mi

The greatest strength of the fruit, like other Logia-type fruits, is that it allows the user to produce their element and even become it, making it impossible to touch or pierce through with weapons. In this case, Ace is able to create, control and become fire. Obviously his attacks focus on the control of his element. He is also able to avoid normal attacks by turning into flames and allowing the attack to pass through him. And of course, it also has the effect of burning an opponent depending on the range of the attack. This fruit stands out for having a great advantage against Admiral Aokiji's Hie Hie no Mi, since the fire produced by this fruit melts the ice produced by the Hie Hie no Mi, but since its opponent is Vice Admiral Smoker's Moku Moku no Mi, as seen in Arabasta, the powers of both fruits seem to cancel each other out. A clear weakness of this fruit is magma, making its power weak against Fleet Admiral Sakazuki's Magu Magu no Mi, as seen at Marineford. Aside from this, this fruit is also affected by the standard Devil Fruit weaknesses. Using the Mera Mera No Mi

The powers granted by the fruit, as used by Ace, have been used in a variety of ways. It is unknown exactly how long this power was in Ace's possession, as Luffy mentioned that he did not have the power of any fruit the day he left for the sea, though it is assumed that he had most of his powers by about three years ago. Aside from being used in combat, Ace has also been seen using his power to lift himself into the air or propel his raft. Ace shared Luffy's tendency to name his techniques, with the only difference being that Luffy adds the phrase "gomu gomu no" followed by the specific name of the attack (usually inspired by a certain object or concept and almost always in English). Ace named his attacks entirely in Japanese and often made up of two-word phrases or those based on different mythologies. During Ace's mini-story, the fruit's powers allowed him to rescue a naval officer and some documents aboard a burning ship. Despite being severely weakened by the Yami Yami no Mi during his fight against Blackbeard, Ace was still able to skillfully use the fruit's power to inflict damage on his former subordinate.

Techniques named by Ace of the Mera Mera No Mi (part 1)

The named techniques that Ace uses that involve the Devil Fruit are as follows: Kagero (陽炎, Kagerō?, lit. "Hot Mist"): Ace throws a fiery projectile at the enemy, similar to a burning fire missile; he used it to protect Luffy from Smoker in Arabasta. This technique is called Calima in the Planeta Cómic manga and Llamarada in the Latin dub. In the Spanish dub it is called Lanzallamas. Hiken (火拳, Hiken?, lit. "Fire Fist"): This is Ace's signature attack and the one that gives him his epithet. It consists of launching a huge amount of fire from his fist that burns everything around it. This technique is so powerful that it destroyed an entire fleet of Billions in Arabasta. In the Planeta Cómic manga, this technique is called Fire Fist. In the Latin dubbing of this version (and in the redubbing), the translation of Fire Fist was maintained. Higan (火銃, Higan?, lit. "Fire Gun"): Ace fires rapid fire bullets that hit the enemy; he first used it against Van Augur. In the Planeta Cómic manga and the Latin dub, this technique is called Fire Gun. Hidaruma (火達磨, Hidaruma?, lit. "Fire Daruma"): After previously using Hotarubi, the lights take on a reddish orange color, expanding and burning whoever is near the lights. He first uses it against Blackbeard. Daruma are dolls without arms or legs that represent Bodhidharma, the founder and first patriarch of Zen, typical of Japanese culture. The name of the technique may also be a pun on "hidaruma" (火だるま, "hidaruma"?) which means "engulfed in flames". In the Planeta Cómic manga this technique is called Flaming Doll, and in the Latin dub it is called Ignition. Shinka: Shiranui (神火 不知火, Shinka: Shiranui?, lit. Techniques of the Mera Mera No Mi (part 3)

Dai Enkai: Entei (大炎戒 炎帝, Dai Enkai: Entei?, lit. "Great Fire Command: Fire Emperor"): It is more powerful than Enkai, but this time, Ace generates a larger amount of fire to form a huge fireball. This is Ace's most powerful technique and requires a large amount of fire. He first used it against Blackbeard in a last-ditch attempt to defeat him. Entei is the Japanese name for Emperor Yandi, a legendary figure and ruler of ancient China, nicknamed the "Fire Emperor". In the Planeta Cómic manga this technique is called Great Fire Warning: Fire Emperor, and in the Latin dub it is called Great Fire Command: Imperial Fire. Enjomo (炎上網, Enjōmō?, lit. "Flaming Net"): Ace creates and expands fire to form a wall and prevent the enemy from advancing. It is only seen once in the battle between Ace and Whitebeard in the past, when he still belonged to the Spade Pirates. Mera Mera's past and how Ace found her

Shipwrecked, Ace arrives on Sixis Island, where he finds the fruit. There he decides to share it with his new partner, Masked Deuce, but the fruit takes effect on Ace, who becomes engulfed in flames. After several days he manages to control his power and combines it with his new raft, Striker, in order to get off the island.

Appearance of Ace's raft

Striker is a waterproof, one-person raft. It is yellow and shaped like a crescent moon, with a motor at the stern and a paddle wheel on each side attached to the boat. There is a small sail on the back.
