Personality

Appearance

Jinbe is currently 36 years old and 9'10 tall; Jinbe is a large blue whale shark fish-man and currently the tallest member of the Straw Hat Pirates. He has a stocky build similar to that of a sumo wrestler and a face commonly associated with various Japanese demons, such as an oni. His yellow eyebrows and sideburns have distinctive shapes like those found on such demons, as well as a bulb-shaped nose and an angular, upward-pointing lower lip. He has a lightning bolt-shaped scar that can be seen from his left sideburn and reaching his left eye. It also possesses two conical lower tusks similar to tusks associated with Oni; the rest of its upper and lower row teeth are practically the same, although much smaller. He also has a severe overbite, which makes room for his huge fangs. He has long, two-toned black hair, with two long white stripes coming from the roots over his forehead and right down his back, a quiff, and a black tuft of hair on his chin. His hands and feet are also webbed, typical of a fishman, and his limbs, which are somewhat thin compared to his massive waist. Its gills (which are pale and pink in color) are between the shoulders and neck. Jinbe wears an orange kimono with large diamonds printed on it, and his cape has a wavy design, colored a dark blue that becomes progressively lighter and finally white at the ends of the sleeves and bottom. "Knight of the Sea" Jinbe is the helmsman of the Straw Hat Pirates. Jinbe is a fish-man being a whale shark and a powerful master of Fish-Man karate. His dream is to fulfill his former captain Fisher Tiger's dying wish for coexistence and equality between humans and fishmen. Jinbe grew up in an orphanage that became the Fishman District, alongside Arlong, Macro, and Fisher Tiger. About 16 years before the current story, Jinbe was a soldier in the Neptune Army. After Fisher Tiger attacked Mary Geoise and became an enemy of the World Government, Jinbe resigned from the Army and joined the Sun Pirates. The Sun Pirates later visited an island where a former slave of Mary Geoise named Koala resided. The inhabitants there were unable to return the girl to her homeland, and so the Sun Pirates asked to take her. After taking the girl, Jinbe showed his sympathy after seeing how traumatized she was. Jinbe tried to understand why the girl was so scared of them. Eventually, during the Sun Pirates' voyage, she warmed to him. However, when they reached their hometown, the Sun Pirates were ambushed by sailors led by Vice Admiral Strawberry. Unfortunately for Fisher Tiger, he was seriously injured during the battle. After escaping from some sailors, Jinbe along with the rest of the Sun Pirates surround Fisher Tiger's bed, who ends up passing away.
