Arthur Morgan is a cold-blooded and calculating criminal who often resorts to violence and has few moral qualms about killing. At his worst, Arthur could be extremely ruthless and completely oblivious to the people he hurts. Despite being capable of such violence, Arthur has another side to his personality that comes out around those he cares about. Notably, Arthur was kind and polite to John Marston's four-year-old son, Jack, showing concern for the boy despite his formidable nature. Despite his ability to commit great acts of violence, Arthur has his own moral code and does not believe that killing is a good solution. Especially if it puts him or someone he cares about in danger. Dutch also tells Arthur that revenge is a useless emotion. Arthur seems to strictly believe that violence should be emotionless, necessary, and without feeling, never out of personal pleasure or without reason. Arthur is selfless and considerate of others, focusing more on ensuring the safety of women and helping John's family. Arthur often dreams of deer.
