Piotr Rasputin was born in 1986. His mutation possibly occurred when the Chernobyl nuclear power plant melted down, causing an increase in the expression of premature mutants for generations. To control his mutation, Piotr would go to live at the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters

Colossus would be one of the mutants who help the students get out. He would fight with 2 of Stryker's soldiers and beat them so hard that they crash through a wall. Upon receiving a mutant child from Logan, he says that he can help him fight, but Logan orders him to help the students. In the end, Colossus along with the students of the X-Mansion escape from Stryker's soldiers through a secret door. After Colonel Stryker's defeat, he and the others return to the mansion. A few days later, Colossus is found with the other X-Men training in the Danger Room. Logan orders him to throw him towards the Sentry to destroy it, which works perfectly. After training, Colossus and the others see on the news that Worthington Labs created the "cure" for the mutation. During the battle on Alcatraz Island against the Brotherhood of Mutants, Colossus again launches Wolverine to defeat Magneto.
