Mark's lore.
Mark was discovered by the group between "A New Day" and "Starved For Help" in the air force base, that was completely overrun. While Mark, Lee and Kenny were hunting in the woods, they met a group of three strangers from Stone Mountain High School. They are successfully saved two of them, leaving the other one behind. Later, the second one has turned into the walker, and make an attack on Katjaa. If you give an axe to Mark, and Doug was saved, than Mark will save Lee from the walker. Later, when Lee and Mark helping around with a fence, he was shot in the shoulder with an arrow by the Save-Lots Bandits. They returned to the house where he was put in the care of St. John family. Mark was not seen for a long period of time after this. Mark wasn't at the dinner. Lee became suspicious and after coming up with an excuse, decided to check on Mark. Suddenly, Mark was found in the secret bathroom, well-hidden behind a bookshelf. Both of his legs were revealed to have been cut off by the St. John brothers. Mark warned Lee that the dinner should not be eaten, cause his legs are the main dish. Later, Mark has tumbled down the stairs, pleading for help. It's unknown what happened to him during time in the meat locker, but Andrew and Danny probably dragged him in the bathroom, causing him to reanimate into a walker. Mark made his final appearance as a walker grabbing Brenda and killing her, saving Lee and Katjaa from her.

Overview
Mark is a friendly, caring, and brave survivor who tries to help in any way he can. He always has the best interests of the group in mind. He greatly cares for the lives of others, being unwilling to leave David Parker behind and arguing for Ben Paul. He is a loyal friend to Lee, with him often venting his thoughts to. Mark respects and supports the decisions of the leaders of the group, and does whatever he can to help, However, he can be loose-lipped such telling Larry that Lee thinks he is a racist (Determinant). He can also be overly trusting as he is the most enthusiastic about the St. John Dairy and reveals a lot of information to them about the group. Tragically, Mark, who was the most excited about the farm, ends up getting his legs chopped off and eaten by the St. Johns. Before his death, he warns Lee not to eat dinner. Ironically after his death, Mark is loyal to the end and saves Lee and Katjaa from Brenda after he reanimates, getting revenge on one of the people who caused his brutal demise.
trivia pt 1
Mark is the first character to accidentally kill a person, albeit causing Travis' death. (Determinant) In Season 4, he could be referenced during the card game when Clementine says that she ate a guy's leg once, talking about the dinner at the St. John's Dairy Farm where Mark's legs were served. Marks face textures are used for Bennett, Justin, Danny, Roman, Roberto, and Nate, the most out of any character.[7]
trivia pt 2
In an earlier draft of the story, Mark had two possible deaths. Originally, if David was not freed from the bear trap in the beginning of the episode, David would survive and take Mark's place as the victim of the St. John's cannibalism. As a result, Mark would have been killed by the bandits when clearing up the fence with Lee instead of being shot in the shoulder. Cut voice lines referring to Mark's death and David's fate can be found in the game files.[2][3] Based in unused audio clips, Mark was originally going to be a mechanic, but it was later scrapped. There's a possibility that Mark is still a mechanic, but left unconfirmed. If not given a share of the day's rations at the Motor Inn, coupled with the fact that he didn't take any bread in the basket at the Dairy which was meant for the other survivors, Mark would have been one of the only three possible members of the group who never had anything to eat in the entire episode. The only other two possible members are Lee and Clementine, if the choice is made to give the last share of the rations to somebody else, and Clementine doesn't get fed and is prevented from eating Mark's legs. In "Starved For Help," Lee has to decide whom to give food to. 58% of players chose to feed Mark, the third most out of any character, only behind the two children, Duck and Clementine.[4][5]
trivia pt 3
In the preview trailer for the episode "Starved For Help", Mark had a t-shirt unlike his current jacket, and he was shot on the shoulder while he trying to escape from bandits.[6] At the beginning of "Starved For Help", Mark makes two comments which happen to foreshadow major events later in the episode. Firstly, he mentions how he wouldn't want to be stuck in a locked room with Larry. After discovering the St. John's secret, Lee, Kenny, Lilly, Larry and Clementine are locked in the family's meat locker with a possibly-reanimating Larry. Secondly, while talking about how he joined the group, he states "(If I hadn't joined you) I'd probably BE food right now". This is again ironic as after being shot in the shoulder by the Save-Lots Bandits, once the St. John family take him into their care, they amputated his legs and served them as food to the group. He is not mentioned in the character stats at the end of "No Time Left", along with Chuck, Molly, and Glenn, even though he was a member of the group. This could be because there are no player decision that can change the character's view of Lee. And also due to the fact that they served as one-off characters. When Lee investigates the St. John house during dinner time, the player can try to prompt Lee to walk back towards the dining room, yet he will be denied entry upon hearing Mark's crying out in pain. The same event will occur if Lee attempts to go back down the stairs after reaching the second floor.
trivia pt 4
Ever the faithful friend and comrade, Mark promises Lee that in case if anything runs amuck at the St. John Dairy Farm, he will "have Lee's back", in terms of support and defense. His words are carried over to the grave, as his reanimated self prevents a deranged Brenda St. John from killing Lee and Katjaa. When Lee and Mark are trying to escape the attacking bandits, Lee is attacked by a walker trapped underneath the tractor. After reacting quickly and aggressively, Lee manages to tear the walker in half-decapitating its torso from its lower body. The half-walker proceeds to desperately crawl after Lee and Mark in a hot pursuit. The state of the walker ultimately foreshadows the fate of Mark, as he too has his upper body separated from his legs, and reanimates as an amputated walker. In a sad twist of fate and misjudgment, Mark had been the most enthusiastic and optimistic party member upon accepting the St. Johns' offer of food and hospitality. During the bandit attack panic-event, if Lee puts himself outside of the safety of the tractor and within the bandits' range of fire and lingers there for a few seconds, Mark will voice concern and advise him to duck down. Lee can ask Brenda about Mark's well-being after he enters the house to be presumably tended to. She remarks that he is one of her best patients, admiring his tolerance of pain and saying that he could teach a thing or two to her sons about being tough. In a ironic twist of fate, Mark is the one who leads to Brenda's demise-with his reanimated form sneaking up on her and biting her in the neck. Mark is the only member of Lee's group who has an undead status regardless of the players actions.
People he's killed.
David Parker: Can kill a Zombified David Parker (The band director who's leg was in the bear trap) if you decide to cut his leg off and bring him to your camp. when you go over to Katjaa while she's attempting to help David (because of the leg) and David has passed. he comes back to bite at you as a zombie where you're then put into a quick time event. Travis: Can accidentally kill Travis while he was alive according to the wiki if you choose to do something differently? I personally didn't have Mark kill him. In my playthrough Travis did the classic, "Oh no, I've slipped and now I'm backing up on my butt! I hope I don't get killed!" he dies either way. Apparently you can have Mark kill a zombified Travis, didn't have this in my playthrough though. He ate Brenda St. John as a zombie. Numerous counts of zombies that he killed, duh.
His death
He was killed by: Jake (The bandit who shot him with the arrow which was indirectly caused.) Gary (Indirectly Caused, Alive) Save-Lots Bandit 2 (Indirectly Caused, Alive) Andrew St. John, Danny St. John, Brenda St. John...The St John's cut his legs off to eat him. Also died of bood loss from his amputed legs. Mark and Lee were ambushed by bandits just outside the perimeter fence of the St. John's Dairy Farm. Though the two of them escaped, Mark was shot in the shoulder with an arrow, leading to Brenda taking him into her care inside the house. Away from the scrutiny of the other survivors from the motel, Brenda and Andy severed both of Mark's legs to use as dinner meat, feeding them to the other survivors. Though Danny and Andy had intended to keep Mark alive so they could extract as much meat as possible from him, Mark ultimately died of blood loss after dragging himself downstairs and being dragged back upstairs. Mark reanimated at some point after dinner, with Lee witnessing Mark attack and bite into Brenda's neck from behind.
Pre-Apocalypse
Robins Air Force Base, Warner Robins, Georgia Prior the outbreak, Mark was formerly employed at a U.S. Air Force base before it was overrun, but did not appear to be familiar with either Lilly or her father, Larry.
Post-apocalypse pt 1
During the period between "A New Day" and "Starved For Help", the group discovered him alone in the air force base, having managed to lock himself inside one of the commissary storage closets when the base was overrun. Since he had access to the commissary supplies as a result, Lilly allowed him to stay at the Motor Inn. "Starved For Help" Mark joined Lee's group during the 3 months between the events of "A New Day" and "Starved For Help". While hunting in the woods with Lee and Kenny, they encountered Ben Paul, Travis, and David Parker, the latter of the three who was caught in a bear trap (likely placed by the St. John brothers). Depending on Lee's choices, Mark carried either a wounded David or Travis back to the Motor Inn. At the motel, Mark, along with Lee and Kenny, was scolded for bringing back more mouths to feed. When Lee was put in charge of handing out food, Mark seemed especially weak. If he was given either the axe or food, he would help save Katjaa and Lee from a recently reanimated David/Travis. Later, when helping out around the St. John's Dairy Farm, Mark was shot in the shoulder with an arrow by the Save-Lots Bandits. Lee and Mark returned to the house where he was put in the care of Brenda St. John. Mark was not seen for sometime after this. If Brenda was questioned about whether or not Mark could be checked on, she just assured Lee that everything was all right
Post-apocalypse pt 2
At dinner, Mark was not present. When his absence was brought into question, Brenda lied that she had already taken a plate upstairs to a still-recovering Mark. However, Lee became suspicious and after coming up with an alibi, decided to investigate the house. Mark was soon found in a bathroom, well-hidden behind a bookshelf upstairs. Sprawled across the floor and barely conscious, both of his legs were revealed to have been cut off. Mark warned Lee that the St. John brothers were responsible and that the dinner should not be eaten; his legs were the main course. Lee rushed off to warn the group of this, leaving Mark to later drag himself out of the room and tumble down the stairs, pleading for help. After the St. John's exposed their secret of cannibalism, Lee was knocked unconscious and the group was taken prisoner. It was never explicitly shown what happened to Mark during this time, but it was implied that the St. Johns simply dragged him back upstairs where they kept him alive. The reason for this, as later explained by Danny St. John, is that the family's victims were kept alive so the meat didn't become "tainted." The evidence to support this came from the assortment of medical instruments and supplies, found earlier in the dairy house, which were specifically designed to keep a person living for as long as possible.
Post-apocalypse pt 3
During the climax, Brenda was encountered holding Katjaa hostage. As Lee confronted her, Mark made his final appearance. Having been dragged upstairs again by the St. Johns, they either finished him off, or he finally succumbed to his blood loss, causing him to turn shortly afterwards. Being attracted by the commotion downstairs, the reanimated Mark dragged himself to the staircase, and began reaching out through the balustrade. Once Lee made the unknowing Brenda back up the stairs far enough, she was grabbed by Mark and killed. Katjaa and Lee escaped, but Mark was left behind at the now-overrun dairy farm. Since his brain was never shown to be destroyed, it was assumed that he would remain there as a walker.
