History and characteristics

According to Christian tradition, Mary was born in Nazareth, the daughter of Joachim and Anna. Her birth was considered a miracle due to the advanced age of her parents. From her conception, she was preserved from original sin, a dogma known as the Immaculate Conception. The Gospel of Luke tells of the Annunciation, when the angel Gabriel revealed to her that she would be the mother of the Son of God. Mary humbly accepted, saying: "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word" (Luke 1:38). She married Saint Joseph and together they raised Yeshua (Jesus) in an environment of faith and obedience to God. She accompanied her son during his public life and was present at key moments of his mission, including the crucifixion. In the first miracle of Jesus, recounted in the Gospel of John, Mary intercedes with her son to transform water into wine at a wedding. This event underlines her role as mediator between God and men. Mary preserved her virginity and purity until the day of her death. Since then she has appeared in different parts of the world giving messages of peace.
