The Virgin of Guadalupe is the Mexican representation of the Virgin Mary, her first appearance was on December 9, 1531 on the Tepeyac hill to an indigenous man named Juan Diego who had recently been baptized when he met her and thanks to him the Virgin of Guadalupe is a symbol of peace and unity in the Mexican Republic. Curiously, on the hill where she appeared was the temple of worship to the Mexica goddess named "Tonantzin", the mother of all the Mexicas before the arrival of the Spanish to Aztec lands, Tonantzin is too similar to the Virgin of Guadalupe and many have come to assure that Tonantzin is the Virgin of Guadalupe, even in several songs she is named as Tonantzin. He has his own basilica in Mexico City.

Appearance

The Virgin of Guadalupe is a beautiful woman with dark skin and a slim body, dark eyes, long dark hair. She wears a long pink dress with a black belt which represents her motherhood. Over her dress she has a green cloak with stars. A curious fact is that the stars on her cloak are not placed randomly but rather they perfectly and accurately represent the constellation of stars that existed in those years. Her feet are bare.
