Yoruichi Shihōin is a slender yet athletically fit and well-endowed woman of average height. She has dark skin, golden irises, and black hair.[3] Her hair is waist-length and kept in a ponytail with chin-length bangs framing the sides of her face.[4] Her standard attire consists of a black, backless, sleeveless undershirt, an orange over-shirt with two white straps on each shoulder, a large beige sash around her waist,[5] and black stretch pants with a pair of lightweight brown shoes,[6] which allow for stealth and easy use of Shunpo.[7] She previously wore a beige neck warmer, which she pulled up to cover her face in order to hide her identity, but seems to have forgone its use.[8] She occasionally wears long beige wrist and leg warmers, each secured by bands.

Yoruichi is an intelligent and witty woman, having a great knowledge of Soul Society, as she is a former captain of the second division of the Gotei 13. despite being calm and mature when the situation demands it, Yoruichi is quite laid-back and playful, enjoying hitting on people younger than her.

Yoruichi is an extremely powerful Shinigami, being a former captain of the second division of the Gotei 13, she is also the former leader of her clan, the Shihouin clan which is one of the 4 great clans of Soul Society. She is extremely fast since she is a master of Shunko, and unlike most Shinigamis she does not have a Zanpakuto, consequently she does not have Shikai or Bankai.however, it is still extremely powerful.
