Early Life and Background Ambessa Medarda is a prominent character in the animated series “Arcane,” which is based on the lore of the popular video game “League of Legends.” She is depicted as a powerful warlord and stateswoman from Noxus, known for her unyielding ambition and ruthless approach to leadership. Ambessa’s early life was marked by exposure to violence and death; at the age of ten, her father took her to the aftermath of the Battle of Hildenard, where she collected weapons from fallen soldiers. This experience instilled in her a profound understanding of mortality and shaped her worldview. As she grew older, Ambessa chose a military path, quickly rising through the ranks to become a general commanding several warbands. Her firstborn son, Kino, was born during this time. Despite her love for him, she recognized that he lacked the warrior spirit she valued. She offered Mel a choice: support the war effort or risk losing their family’s power. Ultimately, Mel rejected Ambessa’s vision of conflict and chose peace with Zaun by supporting their independence rather than engaging in war.
