In real life. the Chapayev-class cruiser, named after Vasily Chapayev, a Russian soldier and Red Army commander, was a series of cruisers built for the Soviet Navy during and post World War II. Of the 17 planned, only seven began construction before the German invasion. Two incomplete ships were destroyed when their building yard in Nikolaev fell to Nazi Germany, and the remaining five were completed only in 1950. in the case of Chapayev, she was launched on September 10, 1941, but mothballed due to the German invasion. she was completed in May 1950 and joined the 4th Fleet on September 19, 1950. She was transferred to the Black Sea Fleet on July 30, 1951. In 1958, She was withdrawn from active duty, disarmed, and reclassified as a training ship for air surveillance radar operators. She was reclassified as PKZ in 1960. She was discarded and removed from the Soviet Navy’s inventory on December 12, 1963. She was sold on October 29, 1963, and scrapped at the Glavvtorchermet facility in Murmansk in 1964.
