description.

Ikki Niko (二に子こ 一い揮っき, Niko Ikki?) is a contender of Blue Lock. When first arriving at Blue Lock, he was a member of Team Y during the First Selection, and he was determined on surviving Blue Lock with the skills he already had, but after losing to Yoichi Isagi in the First Selection, he decided to stop being afraid and change to get better so that he could survive Blue Lock. He started as a center-back for the Blue Lock Eleven against the Japan U-20 and is currently a defensive midfielder for the Ubers during the Neo Egoist League.

personality.

When in a game, Niko is incredibly confident in his ability to read the field, asserting his superiority to Isagi during the game against Team Z. However, Niko is not prone to arrogance, as he seems to appreciate people who demonstrate the same ability as himself. This could be seen when he showed Isagi respect during their game, upon realizing that they possess the same eyes. This has translated into a friendly rivalry, with Niko aiming to one day play Isagi again and defeat him. Niko has also shown that he is willing to adapt his mindset and playing style if it means evolving further. After losing to Isagi, he began focusing on his own goals and staying in the spotlight. During the U-20 match, he also grew to enjoy playing as a defender, where he used his eyes to crush forward. This demonstrates Niko's willingness to change both his style and his role for the sake of his ego, without issue. Off the field, Niko is very reserved due to his introverted nature and otaku upbringing. He seldom talks to others, preferring to stay within his own bubble, and tends to do things by himself. When he does talk, however, he speaks with relative respect to others and handles himself accordingly, if not with a bit of attitude.

archetype.

forwards: also known as strikers, have the main objective of scoring goals. They are often the players who get the most attention since their role is designed to be in a scoring position. They also take part in penalty kicks and corner kicks when the opposing team kicks the ball out of bounds. They are normally the players in charge of starting off the game at the start and halftime. Ball-winning Center-Back: A ball-winning defender typically relies on their intelligence as opposed to their brawn. Where a stopper seeks to become involved in duels, a ball-winning defender will attempt to eliminate the need for such situations by stopping the ball at the source. That means reading the game well to make interceptions. Niko's vision and ability to read the entire state of the field make him a formidable defender and midfielder. He can take in most parameters of the field, as well as factors like the style of pass and off-the-ball movements of other players, to determine where the greatest danger is and exterminate it. Niko, as one of the most intelligent players in Blue Lock, has a spatial awareness that can rival Isagi's and can keep up with the combined forces of Sae and Shido, even at the cost of an injury. In the Neo-Egoist League, his abilities have been honed even further, being able to intercept and steal the ball from Isagi on multiple occasions

skills.

spatial awareness: Niko analyzes the entire field, taking account of both his allies and opponent's weapons, positions, and actions to be able to determine the next play and respond accordingly. Niko's ability to read rivals can even surpass Isagi's, who is himself one of the most tactically aware players in Blue Lock. Isagi himself has been impressed with the sheer scope of Niko's vision and ability to read the state of play. With his tactical ability, Niko organized Team Y's defensive playstyle, as well as their offensive strategy, acting as the core of the team, breaking up the opponent's attacks, and initiating his own teams attacks. Niko has also demonstrated that he can read the way a pass was made and its flight path to determine the best way to intercept it. Watchtower Soccer: By focusing his vision not on the player who has the ball but rather on the players around them, Niko is able to act as a watchtower in the defensive line, determining the most dangerous threat to his team's goal and the likely path they will take. After determining what path they will take, he can move in to exterminate the threat. With this style of defending, Niko has managed to overcome the assault of Sae Itoshi, intercepting his pass twice (first to Shuto Sendo and second to Ryusei Shido), something nobody else but Rin Itoshi has been able to do. Metavision (超越視界メタ・ビジョン, Meta Bijon?, Transcendence Sight): A term used to describe a player's evolved vision that gives them an omnipotent perspective of the field. Using his eyes to constantly take in information from his central and peripheral vision, Niko constantly collects data on every player, every play they make, and their positions on the field. During the Neo Egoist league match against Bastard München, Niko was able to awaken this ability, allowing him to scan the field at an alarmingly fast rate.

project "blue lock".

the blue lock is a training facility built to attract top Japanese soccer players who will live in the facility and follow a strict training regimen designed by Jinpachi Ego himself. The center of the facility also contains a soccer arena that is used to host professional matches. There are five stages in the project, but only one player will be able to complete it. The player who makes it to the end of the project will become a bomber in the Japanese league. Players who are eliminated from the project will be barred from the Japanese league forever. New challenges are constantly appearing in the Blue Lock, which eliminate a huge number of players. The building is a massive structure that takes up the entire area of a large cliff in the mountains of Japan and reaches the height of a skyscraper. The building is shaped like a pentagon and is thus divided into five separate sections. Each section is designated as a stratum, and the stratums contain a variety of different rooms, including living quarters, a dining hall, gyms, dedicated training rooms, several soccer training pitches, a soccer arena in the center that can host professional matches, and even enough space to host multiple training sessions simultaneously.
