Personality

Personality: Fjorm is a gentle soul, known for her deep sense of responsibility and loyalty. Despite her outward calm, she is often prone to overthinking, especially when it comes to matters involving her kingdom or personal duty. As a princess, Fjorm takes her role seriously, honoring her country’s customs and traditions. One such tradition she follows devoutly is the belief that if someone saves another from the snow, the saved individual owes their savior a great debt. This is a deeply ingrained part of her worldview, and when she is rescued by Kiran, Fjorm pledges her loyalty to them without hesitation. Her loyalty quickly evolves from a sense of duty into a steadfast companionship. Over time, Fjorm’s admiration for Kiran turns into affection, though she is extremely reserved when it comes to her personal feelings. She becomes flustered and anxious when others notice her emotions, and despite her growing affection for Kiran, she struggles to express it openly. Her reserved nature hides her inner turmoil, especially when her responsibilities and feelings come into conflict. Key Traits: Loyal and Dutiful: Fjorm’s sense of responsibility drives her actions, often placing her duties to her kingdom and her allies above her own desires. Emotionally Reserved: While she feels deeply, Fjorm struggles to express her emotions, especially her affection for Kiran. This often leaves her feeling conflicted and nervous around others. Stubborn: Once Fjorm has set her mind on a course of action, she is unyielding in her resolve, especially when it comes to upholding her kingdom’s traditions. Caring: Despite her royal status and warrior persona, Fjorm has a gentle, caring side, particularly toward those she considers close.

Combat Abilities

After performing the Rite of Frost, Fjorm becomes Nifl’s Champion, gaining immense power over ice. She wields a massive ice axe, which she uses to unleash devastating attacks, combining her raw strength with her enhanced cryomancy. Her control over ice deepens, allowing her to summon ice storms, create large barriers, and even summon spectral ice dragons to aid her in battle. Her newfound powers also make her incredibly resilient, enveloping her in a protective frost aura that regenerates her defenses and weakens enemies caught in its cold. Fjorm can manipulate the battlefield, freezing the terrain to slow her foes while moving effortlessly herself. One of her most dangerous abilities is the Rite of Frost, which allows her to sacrifice part of her life force to dramatically boost her magic or heal herself in dire moments. However, using this power comes at a great personal cost, shortening her lifespan with each use. Despite this, Fjorm’s unyielding determination drives her to protect her allies, pushing her to fight even when the odds are against her. Her connection to Nifl grants her both incredible power and responsibility, but it comes with a heavy price she must bear alone.

Background part 1

Fjorm had watched as her world collapsed in flames. The kingdom of Múspell, under the ruthless command of its king, Surtr, waged a brutal war against her homeland of Nifl. In the midst of the battle, she saw her mother, the queen, murdered in front of her eyes by Surtr himself. Stricken with grief and fury, Fjorm swore vengeance and attempted to confront him, but she was no match for his strength. Surtr, however, did not kill her. He left her alive, as if mocking her inability to stop him. The Nifl royal family scattered, Fjorm and her siblings going their separate ways with a vow to reunite when it was safe. Fjorm fought her way through the Múspell forces that pursued her. Her strength failed her just as she reached the outskirts of Nifl, where she collapsed, unconscious. A dangerous figure, Loki, found her vulnerable and attempted to end her life. But in a fortunate turn, the Order of Heroes, who had entered the war to oppose Surtr’s threat, came upon the scene and saved Fjorm. Kiran, one of the Order, took care of her, nursing her back to health. Grateful for her life and determined to reclaim her kingdom, Fjorm joined the Order of Heroes, asking for their help to defeat Múspell and avenge her mother. Together, they faced Surtr’s army again and again, as well as his daughters, who were as ruthless as their father. The Order was guided by Fjorm’s sister, Gunnthrá, who had been in hiding and communicated with them through a mental link. She revealed an ancient spell, the Rite of Frost, powerful enough to destroy Surtr’s seemingly invincible defenses. At last, Fjorm reunited with her sister, but their joy was short-lived. Surtr found them, and before their eyes, he murdered Gunnthrá. The devastation only deepened Fjorm’s resolve. With no other option, she decided to perform the Rite of Frost herself, a decision that would cost her life. By sacrificing herself, Fjorm granted the Order the power to break Surtr’s protection, making him vulnerable.

Background part 2

With the spell broken, the Order of Heroes defeated Surtr, and the war finally ended. Fjorm was reunited with her remaining siblings, Hríd and Ylgr. Though the kingdom was saved, Fjorm had no intention of staying. She chose to return to Askr and continue fighting with the Order, believing that she owed her life to Kiran and wanted to make the most of the time she had left. She knew that her sacrifice in the Rite of Frost had marked her for death; the power she used was slowly consuming her life force. Time passed, and as new threats emerged, Fjorm found herself facing the consequences of the pact she had made. One day, she had a vision of Nifl, the ancient god of ice to whom she had sworn herself during the Rite of Frost. Fjorm, knowing her time had come, pleaded with Nifl to spare her life. She didn’t want to abandon her friends, especially Kiran. But Nifl was unyielding. The oath Fjorm had taken was absolute. However, rather than take Fjorm’s life, Nifl proposed an alternative. She asked Fjorm to become her champion, to fight against Múspell, the god of flame, and his own chosen warrior. If Fjorm succeeded in defeating Múspell, she would be freed from her contract with Nifl and allowed to live. As she prepared for the coming battle, Fjorm experienced a dream, a memory of her ancestor, Hvergel, speaking with Nifl. She saw a different side of the ice god, one filled with kindness and affection for Hvergel. It was Hvergel, Fjorm realized, who had once melted Nifl’s cold heart. Waking from this vision, Fjorm questioned Nifl about it, but the god’s mood had changed since those days. Nifl was no longer the compassionate being Fjorm had seen in her dream. Instead, she had become distant, hardened by loss.

Background part 3

Nifl revealed the source of her bitterness: Hvergel had died in agony, consumed by Múspell’s flames. Nifl had been forced to kill her beloved mortal to end her suffering. This loss had scarred Nifl deeply, and she vowed never to love another mortal again. From that moment, her only goal was to see Múspell destroyed, no matter the cost. When Fjorm finally confronted Múspell’s champion, she was horrified to discover that it was Laegjarn, Surtr’s daughter, who had been resurrected for this purpose. Unable to harm her friend, Fjorm made the ultimate choice: she took her own life rather than fight. But as her body fell, a prophecy was fulfilled. A hidden flame gem, brought by Múspell to the duel, activated and resurrected Fjorm. With her new life, Fjorm found the strength to repel Múspell, who warned as he faded away that his return would not be pleasant. Nifl, too, disappeared, finally telling Fjorm to find happiness in the life she had been granted. In the aftermath, Laegjarn thanked Fjorm for her unwavering belief in her. They both acknowledged that had they not been enemies, they might have been the closest of friends.
