Tau empire information
The Tau Empire is an ever—expanding Tau state located in the Imperial Ultima segmentum, east of Terra. This empire was created by the ethereal caste, which runs it in the name of the ideology of the Greater Good. The Tau are also allied with other intelligent races, such as the Kruut, Vespids, Nicassar, Demiurges, and even with humans (in the Tau lexicon they are called Gue'vesa). The Tau Empire borders the Imperium of Humanity and is located within the Astronomicon. It has survived many attacks by Orcs and Tyranid hive fleets. Tau hails from the planet T'au (hence the name of their empire). It is an arid planet with few areas of lush greenery and shallow oceans. Their planet is dominated by one continent, whose lands consist of game-rich savannas and spacious plains interrupted by patches of rocky deserts.
Tau history
Legends say that on a mountain plateau called Fio'town, an alliance of plains dwellers and flying Tau laid siege to the most powerful city of the Tau builders - a large and impregnable fortress. In vain, the merchants tried to negotiate with the fierce warriors of the plains: their blood was running high, and they would not tolerate any agreements other than those offered by holding the enemy at gunpoint. For five long years, Fio'town's cannons kept the attackers away, but supplies were already running low, and pestilence was raging inside the city walls. When night fell after another bloody day, the rulers of Fio'town became despondent, not suspecting, however, that deliverance was already at hand. An unusual-looking Tau came out of the darkness to the besiegers' camp and asked to meet with the army commander. He spoke softly and softly, but, as the legend says, he exuded such undeniable power that the sentries to whom he addressed did not have the heart to refuse to escort him to their commander. At the same time, within the walls of Fio'town, exactly the same Tau appeared before the city guards. When the walls of the city opened, the mysterious Tau said that the skills of each tribe were important and that they should be used usefully. Soon peace was concluded and the continent began to unite.
Tau caste system
Although all Tau are one race, their castes have evolved so far apart in development that their differences lie much deeper than just in appearance. Each caste acts, talks, and even thinks in its own distinct manner. The caste of any Tau is easy to determine at a glance; however, to find out his status in society and from which sept he probably hails, much more careful consideration will be required. The Tau caste is easy to identify, since the physical features of each caste are easily distinguishable at first glance: the Fire caste is larger and more muscular, the Air caste is tall and flexible, the Earth caste is densely built and boring, the Water caste is expressive, and the ethereal ones are lean, but nevertheless graceful. Most Tau outwardly look stern and impassive, their flat faces express almost nothing, with the exception of the Fire caste, which is easily enraged, and the exceptionally demonstrative Water caste, whose faces are more mobile and expressive than the rest of the Tau. The fire caste is soldiers. The water caste are diplomats and merchants. The caste of the earth is workers and scientists. The caste of the air is the pilots. Ethereals are the undisputed leaders.
Greater Good
The Greater Good (or Tau'va) is an ideology that unites all Tau. It teaches that every being is equal to others and must contribute to the prosperity of the Greater Good and the Tau Empire. Tau do not seek to eliminate other beings who did not believe in the Greater Good, they respect the right to life. However, some races tend to accept the Greater Good faster, while others try to prevent it. The Tau look at other intelligent races as deluded. Before the battle, they try to negotiate with any race, except for Orcs, supporters of Chaos and tyranids.
Tau biology
The legs of the tau end in hooves, and on both hands of the tau there are four fingers (three index fingers and one thumb), they have rough gray-blue skin that almost does not evaporate moisture. Their faces are flat, with wide eyes and an opening in the shape of the letter "I" in the center of the forehead in males and "Y" in females. Their eyesight is more developed than that of humans. The organs of smell in Tau are located in the mouth, like reptiles. Physical strength depends on which caste the Tau is in. Their height is slightly below that of a human. They can also tolerate cold and heat better than humans. There are no Psykers among the Tau, and therefore they know little about the warp and the immaterium. But this gives them little protection from various psyker abilities. To learn more about the immaterium, they entered the warp on Medusa V. However, further research stopped due to unknown reasons, and it was decided that "the warp has no place in the Greater Good. It's better to leave it for other, stupid races who risk their lives by entering there.". Also Tau very weak in melee. Tau can see in the infrared and ultraviolet spectrum, but their pupils do not dilate, which is why they cannot focus their vision.
Tau weapons
The Tau Empire has a wide variety of sophisticated and high-tech weapons put into mass production. In many ways, it surpasses the armament of the Imperium, but only the small size of the Empire itself makes it possible to effectively use such complex devices in many theaters of war. Pulse technology is the foundation upon which Tau's formidable fighting prowess is built. Pulse weapons use point induction fields to move deadly bursts of plasma over long distances. This principle applies both to conventional Tau small arms, including the iconic pulse rifles and carbines used by teams of Fire warriors, and to destructive pulse cannons and blast guns that carry advanced combat suits. A shot from a pulse rifle can burn through the power armor of a space marine, while a shot from a pulse cannon can turn a battle tank into a flaming pile of molten slag. A combat suit or an armored suit (also a common variant of an armored suit) is one of the greatest inventions of the Tau race, a true miracle of scientific thought that helps in conquering the stars. Piloting a combat suit in the crucible of war means becoming a hero of the Tau Empire and an exemplary follower of the Greater Good.
Allied Tau Races
The Kruuts (known in the Imperium as the Predator Kruuts or Krutis Aviana) are a humanoid race of xenos. They are found all over the galaxy, but most of their representatives are part of the Tau Empire. The main feature of the Kruut is that by eating the enemy, they adopt his abilities. The Vespids are a race of flying insectoids who have joined the Tau Empire; their mobile units fight as allied troops alongside the warriors of the Fire Caste. The Nicassar became the first xenos race to join the Tau Empire. This octopus-like race is able to use the powers of the Warp, which is why the Tau hide them. The Demiurges are a race of short, semi—humanoid traders and miners who are allies of the Tau Empire.
Humans in Tau empire
Gue'wesa (which literally means "human helper" in the Tau lexicon) is the name that the Tau gave to those people who voluntarily joined the Tau Empire. People who did not join the Empire are not referred to by the Tau as Gue'vesa, instead they receive the name Gue'la, which translates as "man". Many Gue'wees are now fighting alongside the Tau Fire caste for the Greater Good. They even take up arms, when required, against former brethren from the Imperium of Mankind. Needless to say, Gue'wesa is considered the worst of the traitors to the Emperor of Mankind. And the Ecclesiarchy considers them spiritually depraved, for their voluntary association with the culture of xenos. The term "gue'vesa'la" is given to the standard military humanity; their non-commissioned officers, which is equivalent to the sergeants of the Astra Militarum, as their own "gue'vesa'ui". The Ethereal caste understands that the best way to survive in the face of the colossal war machine of the Imperium is to peacefully absorb imperial worlds and forces wherever possible. To achieve this goal, the Water caste launched many diplomatic missions with varying degrees of success, turning imperial citizens into the service of the Greater Good.
Additional information about Tau Empire
Tau are very weak in close combat, Tau have no such thing as private property, Tau have no such thing as family (Tau use a special agreement under which one representative of the Tau Empire swears to help another representative of the Tau Empire most of all), Tau are called communists because of how much the idea of the Greater Good is similar to communism and the fact that The Tau are tolerant of other races.
