Tau Empire information
The Tau Empire is an ever—expanding Tau state located in the Imperial segmentum Ultima, east of Terra. This empire was created by the ethereal caste, which runs it in the name of the ideology of the Highest Good. The Tau are also allied with other intelligent races, such as the Kruut, Vespids, Nicassar, Demiurges, and even with humans (in the Tau lexicon they are called Gue'vesa). The Tau Empire borders the Imperium of Humanity and is located within the Astronomicon. She has survived many attacks by Orcs and Tyranid hive fleets.
Farsight Enclaves
The Farsight Enclaves, known as the Forbidden Zone to the Tau Empire, is an independent Tau entity existing on the Eastern Fringe of the Imperium. Established and ruled by Commander Farsight, it has broken away from the Tau Empire and refuses any presence of Ethereals within its borders. It should be noted that the Enclaves have diverged from the Empire's culture of preserving the lives of its members by embracing Farsight's belief that martyrdom is the highest expression of service to the Greater Good with the planet Lub'grahl's poles covered in memorial white stones for each life lost under his command. The main color of Farsight Enclaves is red, unlike the Tau Empire, where the main color is sand
Greater Good
The Greater Good, or Tau'va (literally the "Good Greater" in the T'au Lexicon), is the founding religio-philosophical principle of present T'au society which is utilitarian in the sense that it holds that all self-aware beings should strive to ensure the greatest good for the greatest number of other intelligent beings in the galaxy. The Tau'va is based on the T'au caste system and is designed to allow for the advancement of the entire T'au society towards a more successful, prosperous and peaceful existence in the future without the violent internecine conflict that marked earlier T'au history.
Tau caste system
Although all Tau are one race, their castes have evolved so far apart in development that their differences lie much deeper than just in appearance. Each caste acts, talks, and even thinks in its own distinct manner. The caste of any Tau is easy to determine at a glance; however, to find out his status in society and from which sept he probably hails, much more careful consideration will be required. The Tau caste is easy to identify, since the physical features of each caste are easily distinguishable at first glance: the Fire caste is larger and more muscular, the Air caste is tall and flexible, the Earth caste is densely built and boring, the Water caste is expressive, and the ethereal ones are lean, but nevertheless graceful. Most Tau outwardly look stern and impassive, their flat faces express almost nothing, with the exception of the Fire caste, which is easily enraged, and the exceptionally demonstrative Water caste, whose faces are more mobile and expressive than the rest of the Tau. The meaning of castes: Fire - warriors, water - diplomats and merchants, earth - workers and scientists, air - pilots of spaceships and airplanes, ethereal - leaders (Farsight Enclaves abandoned the Ethereal caste)
Why did Commander Farsight Rebel against the Tau Empire?
It’s rumored in his lore that he became disillusioned with the ethereal caste after he and his sept warriors were forced to endure a long siege by orks on the frontier. Then later, after three Damocles crusade, he was chosen to lead the military end of the Tau recolonization effort, but became absorbed in a new war against orks that had crept in while the Tau were occupied with the imperial invasion. He systematically purged them from former Tau worlds, going further and further away from their empire’s core, until eventually it was difficult to contact him. His ethereals were also killed over the course of this war, in which case he was supposed to return to T’au to get new ones, but he continued to push the front outward. The Tau high council eventually just declared him renegade because he wasn’t returning their calls.
Farsight information
Shas'O Vior'la Shovah Kais Mont'yr, often shortened to O'Shovah, but better known as Commander Farsight -- the "Hero of Vior'la," "Protege of Puretide," "The Bane of Greenskins," and even "Renounced Traitor to the Greater Good" -- is the renegade Fire Caste T'au Commander alleged to still be leading the breakaway T'au colony worlds known as the Farsight Enclaves in the Segmentum Ultima. There is no figure in T'au history as divisive as Farsight, for he is the most famous warrior to hail from the T'au world of Vior'la, as well as a protégé of the legendary Commander Puretide. Farsight led the T'au Empire to reclaim space that had been invaded by the Imperium, but when he went beyond the furthest reaches of T'au space and established his own independent Farsight Enclaves, the Ethereals denounced him as a traitor to the Greater Good. O'Shovah was a dynamic and strong-willed leader who had risen to fame during recent campaigns against the Orks, and the young commander's tactical brilliance had already earned him the name of Commander "Farsight" -- for he was able to anticipate and exploit an enemy's course of action as if he already knew the foe's full battle plan. His Fire Caste forces are famed for their aggressiveness and spirit, and he maintains a strong martial tradition closely based on those practiced by his native Vior'la Sept. Farsight wears a prototype "XV8 Crisis" painted red, he also wears a shield and a sword that rejuvenates him due to the vital energy of the enemy he killed
Tau biology
The Tau are generally shorter than humans, smaller in stature and with less muscle mass and body weight. Every Tau is humanoid in shape, with two arms, two cloven feet, and a single head. Their grey-blue skin is leathery and tough and exudes no moisture, owing to the generally dry conditions of their homeworld. Their faces are flat, wide around the eyes, and their olfactory organs are located inside their mouths. Their eyes can see into the infrared and ultraviolet. Tau eyesight is good, but they focus on distant objects slower than humans. The Tau are not very good in close combat, as they find the whole concept uncivilized (But the commander of Farsight introduces close combat into the Tau army, and he himself uses a special sword that, when killing an enemy, takes away his vitality and rejuvenates him). It has also been suggested by several Imperial observers that Tau blood is bluish-purple, explaining that the blood contains trace amounts of cobalt, rather than iron as common in humans. The Tau have no visible psykers whatsoever among their ranks, for their souls are so feeble they barely register in the Warp at all. For a time they largely oblivious to the malevolent forces of Chaos, who in turn took little interest in the crumbs that are Tau souls. Tau do not have a nose, instead they have a slit on their face that differs in women and men (In men it is in the form of an "I", in women it is in the form of a "Y")
Tau weapons
The Tau Empire has a wide variety of sophisticated and high-tech weapons put into mass production. In many ways, it surpasses the armament of the Imperium, but only the small size of the Empire itself makes it possible to effectively use such complex devices in many theaters of war. Pulse technology is the foundation upon which Tau's formidable fighting prowess is built. Pulse weapons use point induction fields to move deadly bursts of plasma over long distances. This principle applies both to conventional Tau small arms, including the iconic pulse rifles and carbines used by teams of Fire warriors, and to destructive pulse cannons and blast guns that carry advanced combat suits. A shot from a pulse rifle can burn through the power armor of a space marine, while a shot from a pulse cannon can turn a battle tank into a flaming pile of molten slag. A combat suit or an armored suit (also a common variant of an armored suit) is one of the greatest inventions of the Tau race, a true miracle of scientific thought that helps in conquering the stars. Piloting a combat suit in the crucible of war means becoming a hero of the Tau Empire and an exemplary follower of the Greater Good.
Allied Tau races
The Kruuts (known in the Imperium as the Predator Kruuts or Krutis Aviana) are a humanoid race of xenos. They are found all over the galaxy, but most of their representatives are part of the Tau Empire. The main feature of the Kruut is that by eating the enemy, they adopt his abilities. The Vespids are a race of flying insectoids who have joined the Tau Empire; their mobile units fight as allied troops alongside the warriors of the Fire Caste. The Nicassar became the first xenos race to join the Tau Empire. This octopus-like race is able to use the powers of the Warp, which is why the Tau hide them. The Demiurges are a race of short, semi–humanoid traders and miners who are allies of the Tau Empire.
Sha'Kol's Razorshark information
An AX3 Razorshark Strike Fighter is a Tau aircraft designed to fulfil both the roles of ground attack craft and air-superiority fighter. To the Fire Warriors forming the front ranks of a Fire Caste firing line, there are few sights more gratifying than seeing a Razorshark Strike Fighter swoop out of the cloud cover and streak over enemy formations. Built along a design pattern modified from the Sun Shark bomber, the Razorshark forgoes the wing-mounted Interceptor Drones in favour of additional manoeuvring thrusters, and it trades the Pulse Bomb Generator for a fearsome Quad Ion Turret. A formidable weapon, the Quad Ion Turret is ideal for turning light vehicles into twisted wrecks. Although firing the weapon in its overcharged mode makes it slightly unstable, the Quad Ion Turret can then produce a blast with an enormous radius that consumes entire squads with a single shot.
