Biography

Gears rose through the ranks extremely quickly, eventually becoming a valued medic in the Science Department thanks to his no-nonsense attitude and willingness to complete any experiment. Eventually, a now-classified event at Site 19 caused him to suffer severe internal bleeding and partial blindness. Despite his injuries, Gears calmly finished his experiment, arriving at the medical room about half an hour later. Afterwards, Gears had an important annual meeting between himself and a member of the O5 Council, where they discussed Gears' philosophy towards the anomalous.

Quiet days with gears

Following the neutralization of all existing anomalies, Gears was one of the few staff members who remained at Site-19, helping his fellow staff readjust to their new, normal lives. He noted that most of the former staff were either happy that everything was finally over or angry that they would have a hard time starting over since their work was unknown to the public, but Gears was surprised that some were sad about the cessation of the anomalous. After a few days passed, Gears prepared to leave the site as well, but just as he was about to do so he looked back and remembered his struggles with SCP-682, the fun he had testing SCP-914, and the time he spent together with the rest of the staff, making jokes and hanging out together. He then recalled the moment when the anomalies were neutralized, with Dr. Bright finally dying, Dr. Clef committing suicide as he could not cope with the new state of the world, and the usually cheerful Dr. Rights leaving the Foundation in a state of sadness. While looking through his memories, Gears, for the first time since his employment, was hit by a wave of emotions and began to cry. (oh flip flops :'v).

SCP-5000

In the alternate universe of SCP-5000, Gears was one of several senior Foundation staff members who resigned on December 19, 2019, unwilling to participate in omnicide, even if it theoretically saved humanity. A team of assassins was sent after him on Christmas Day, though it is unknown whether the team was successful in killing him or not.

Yesterday

As Clef began killing key members of the Foundation staff on O5-12's orders, he arrived at Gears' office, where Gears was waiting for him. He explained to Clef that he was aware of his orders and accepted his fate, giving Clef the vial of poison and the location of his comatose body; he additionally gave Clef the coordinates on where to find Kondraki. Gears was then shot and killed. After the people on the list were killed by both Clef and Dr. Sophia Light, Bloom's conditions were met and Light entered the new iteration of the universe.

Temporary license

During the formation of MTF Alpha-9 "Last Hope", Clef had Bright force Gears to take a temporary leave of absence from his duties at the site, though he would remain on guard duty. Gears met with Crow and explained the situation, stating that they both needed to work elsewhere in order to contribute to the Alpha-9 project. Gears also showed Crow a gift given by Clef containing a Hawaiian shirt in his size and a silicone dildo with a handwritten note telling Gears to relax.

Brief reunion

Following the capture of a Serpent's Hand agent, Joanna Cross, at Site-17, Gears was assigned to oversee the interrogation between the captured person of interest and a Tau-9 MTF agent "Bookworms". Only two MTF investigators were available, Rita Butler and Kendra Campbell, and because Butler was Cross's half-sister, it was decided to have Campbell interrogate her. Campbell was given a script of questions to ask Cross, but this went nowhere despite Campbell interviewing Cross multiple times. Campbell asked Gears why he was assigned to interview Cross with useless questions, but that was above his clearance level and he simply replied that she was the only one available.

Incident 239-B - Clef-Kondraki

Entering 239's chamber, the two embraced before Gears ordered the little reality-bender to use her "spellbook" to banish the "Great Darkness" that had possessed Clef. When the two confronted Clef, who had been fighting Dr. Kondraki in a sword fight, 239 used his powers to banish the darkness, but this resulted in the creation of a dragon from Clef's body. As the dragon began to further destroy the facility, Gears took 239 to a safe room to keep herself safe. He then injected 239 with some chemicals that sent her into a coma. As she began to fall into a comatose state, Gears told her "goodnight", while Crow used 244 to kill the dragon. Following the incident, Gears was among the people involved who were questioned about the incident, in which he was scolded for his actions.

Working with iceberg part 1

The next day, a false alarm occurred, causing a brief morning shutdown. Gears then met with Dr. "Iceberg", who was assigned to work alongside him. He first tasked Iceberg with compiling several stacks of reports to submit to Central Records. Gears was then notified that the experiment on 212 was being postponed due to the subject failing a drug test. He then interviewed 172, who presented Gears with schematics on a non-lethal combat air gun and his other projects. Gears asked 172 to finish the weapon, though he was wary of his other projects and planned to ask Site Oversight if the anomaly was allowed to work on them. Over lunch in his office, Gears realized that Iceberg had done a good job with the reports. He decided to have him assist in testing SCP-882, as the anomaly had been dormant and would prove a valuable learning experience for Iceberg, as he had yet to encounter a high-security SCP. Gears later learned that SCP-076-2 had breached containment and attacked some nearby personnel after mishearing some of his comments, but it was thankfully quickly resolved with no casualties.

Working with iceberg part 2

The next day, during their flight to SCP-882's containment area, Gears was notified that the anomaly, while being transported to the testing area, had left its secured transport tank and struck a large metal door, attaching itself to it and trapping several agents and personnel with it. Upon landing, Gears was also notified that a snowstorm was approaching and that they would be forced to stay for at least two weeks. Though most of the containment area was open, several other areas near the site had been infected by 882. Personnel had been able to sever all connections to the crash site and purge the infection from several rooms and hallways, though two agents, a medic, and three D-Class were still trapped within the affected areas. Despite the turn of events, Command decided to continue testing anyway, focusing instead on group dynamics when under stress. Gears tasked Iceberg with setting up a central observation post with several CCTVs and other monitoring devices, as they do not appear to have been infected.

Working with iceberg part 3

As food was running low and available equipment was insufficient, Command sent in a shipment of emergency supplies the next day during a break in the storm. It landed several meters from its target, colliding with an agent's jeep. Both Gears and Iceberg helped unload it, procuring the necessary equipment, medical supplies, and food. Meanwhile, one of the trapped agents had committed suicide, the other attempted to destroy the cameras, and the doctor began feeding 882 something metal to stop him from making noise. This greatly worried Gears, as he feared 882 would expand, but the rest of the staff assured him that they were out of range and that he and Iceberg would be safe, as their work area was filled with SCP-148. Unfortunately, just as Gears had feared, 882's range was revealed to have been greater than previously thought and most of the staff had been compromised with the exception of Gears and Iceberg. Soon the entire area erupted into chaos, with the staff allowing 882 to properly enter while he attempted to reach Gears and Iceberg who had barricaded themselves in their protected testing area and contacted the Foundation for an Emergency Response Team to intervene, but due to the weather conditions it was unknown when they would arrive. The response team arrived six days later, by which time most of the staff had died from various causes, with the remainder having recovered and quarantined. SCP-882 was successfully contained and its containment zone rebuilt. Fortunately, Gears and Iceberg were safely rescued, with Gears sustaining minimal damage while Iceberg's injuries were slightly more severe as he had been the one primarily fighting off the crazed staff. Gears feared that Iceberg may have been slightly affected by 882 as well and assigned him to Dr. Glass while he

while he himself decided to ask 172 to build a special combat device for him to use in future events. Fact; Were they both couples? Yes they are or well they were, unlike Iceberg, Gears does not have the ability to feel emotions or feelings no matter how hard he tried, I do not remember the name of the article I read but in one part when Iceberg died Gears left him a letter on his tombstone expressing that he did feel something for him and that he missed him while leaving him a rose next to the letter, although he was not able to feel emotions or feelings Gears was able to realize that with Iceberg he felt something different and happy with him, so it could be said that it is canon but it was never confirmed between them although it was very obvious.

House of gears part 1

In this reality, Gears possessed a photographic memory and was never married. While Gears was fixing an uncooperative laser printer near the SCP Object Zulu Hotel Echo's containment chamber, he heard several security guards confronting an intruder. Interrupting his work, Gears decided to observe what was happening and witnessed a masked person passing by on the roof while blowing a long, descending note on a whistle. When Gears summarized that the person was a human woman and the intruder, the woman pulled out a gun and an object and ordered Gears to describe the latter. Gears took the object and analyzed it for a bit, thinking it was a simple wooden toy airplane, but the woman was disgusted that she did not recognize it. She then proceeded to put the toy away and used a pair of handcuffs to restrain it, explaining that her name was Alison and that she was going to keep it away from the Foundation. However, at that moment SCP Object Zulu Hotel Echo broke containment and attacked her, forcing Alison to use her anomalous weapon to retaliate. After some effort, the wounded Alison managed to incapacitate the hostile creature by burning it.

House of gears part 2

Over the next few days, Gears began working around the facility, landing a job in the labs and continuing to explore other areas with C-44. While completing the tour, a witch version of Gears who had been a member of the Chaos Insurgency went out of control and began attacking the other versions of Gears, forcing Gears and C-44 to call it a day. After ensuring that he was unaffected by the witch's magic, Gears planned to meet up with him properly while continuing his work within the facility.

Attributes

It was later revealed that as a result of his traumatic upbringing, Gears had developed the anomalous ability to activate clockwork-based devices and machinery near him. According to him, his family lineage was expected to develop a special power, but through the way they had been raised. Though Gears' power was seen as mostly useless due to his limitations, he himself simply considered it habitual and had kept it a secret from almost everyone around him except the Overseers and his close friend Kain.
