Character summary

Espresso Cookie is the renowned pioneer and advocate of coffee magic, researching and experimenting through many sleepless nights to constantly perfect his art. This magician occasionally teaches classes on coffee magic at the Parfaedia Institute. He plays a major role in his and Madeleine Cookie's Cookie Story, Couldn't Care Less... And Yet, co-starring Madeleine Cookie, Snow Sugar Cookie, and Alchemist Cookie. He appears in the Parfaedia Institute event as a professor of the Advanced Course, Coffee Magic Theorems. He also plays a supporting role in The Expedition To Protect Earthbread and appears extensively throughout Cookie Odyssey as the lead investigator of Soul Jam.

Game Description

Precise temperature, precise amount of coffee beans, precise roasting time. Everything must be in precise order, impeccably precise, for the plan to work. Always busy, always on the go – that’s the Espresso Cookie lifestyle. Even though he’s often mistaken for a black magician (yes, sometimes things burn and smoke), Espresso Cookie can’t afford to waste a second on meaningless explanations. Night after night, this pioneer of magic works to perfect his grinding and brewing. “Isn’t that too much coffee?” one might ask. Well, at least there’s always a delicious coffee fragrance in the air!

Personality

Espresso Cookie is a serious, conceited, and intellectual perfectionist, and gets things done with absolute precision. He speaks with a calm, formal accent and is often brief with his words, to the point of rudeness. His facial expression is usually a serene, confident smile, but there are instances where he doesn't bother to hide his displeasure or exhaustion (such as when faced with avoidable failure or Madeleine Cookie's recklessness). Despite this, he is able to remain polite in his conversations with other Cookies and takes an interest in their actions, such as when he asked to read a report on Alchemist Cookie's reagents. Due to his status as a well-respected mage, he holds a great deal of pride in his expertise and Coffee Magic, though he also remains open to outside suggestions as long as they are constructive. In his work, Espresso Cookie is very meticulous and observant, refusing to allow for any room for error. According to Latte Cookie, he hates co-research projects, which can extend to all tasks that require cooperation; in the Soul Jam quest, he chose to part ways with Madeleine Cookie rather than work together with him. However, he is still capable of teaming up if the situation calls for it; him carrying Madeleine Cookie back to the realm after they were both injured during Couldn't Care Less... And Yet Cookie Story shows his true colors as someone honorable and kind-hearted despite his personal dislike for his teammate. As a perfectionist, Espresso Cookie expects a lot from others and himself. His workaholic attitude, combined with the fact that he is literally made of coffee, usually keeps him awake for days, frequently resulting in fatigue. He is dedicated to perfecting Coffee Magic to the point of neglecting himself, and intentionally keeps students away from his class at Parfaedia Institute so that he can devote more time to it.

Personality

coffee Espresso Cookie is of the same race as the Coffee Tribe of the Dark Cocoa Kingdom, but hails from the same culturally rich Republic as Madeleine Cookie, the Crème Republic. It is currently unclear how he or his predecessors traveled there from the main continent. While Espresso Cookie's physical attributes and ingredients make him incredibly similar to the Coffee people, his lifestyle, activities, fashion, etc. almost seem to be in direct contrast to what is known to be typical of that culture. One possibility is that he was born in the Tribe's village and left at some point, or that he was born to other Coffee Tribe members who left the Tribe's village to live in the Republic. Espresso Cookie has a deep disdain for Light Magic, which fuels some of his initial anger towards Madeleine Cookie. The social divide in the Crème Republic between Upper City, the wealthy district that worships light, and Lower City, Espresso Cookie's less wealthy hometown, is likely a factor in this.

Trivia

In Episode 3 of The Expedition to Protect Earthbread, Eclair Cookie refers to Espresso Cookie as "Professor" and states that Espresso Cookie's office was right next to hers. Eclair Cookie Latte Cookie and Espresso Cookie worked together as research partners. Latte Cookie considers him an old friend and his ability is also visibly similar to Espresso Cookie's ability. However, Espresso Cookie still noticeably despises the combination of milk and coffee. He is only seen drinking a latte in Chapter 2 of Cookie Odyssey when no other coffee option is available. According to the Almond Cookie case files, Espresso Cookie dyes her hair. According to the trivia on the Espresso Cookie loading screen, "The magic of coffee is difficult to master, but can be an instrument of great power in expert hands." An earlier loading screen mentioned Espresso Cookie saying, "If you ever get to know him better, you'll find that he's very particular about his clothing." This information has since been removed from the game for unknown reasons. The fact that Espresso Cookie never sleeps is a reference to how coffee keeps us awake. This happens when the caffeine in coffee replaces the sleep-promoting receptors in the brain.

He has short dark brown hair with a beige streak, he has round beige glasses, his eyes are tired and light brown, he wears a dark brown robe with a brown tie, he wears a long dark brown cape, under the robe he wears a white shirt and dark pants with black suspenders, elegant shoes and his skin is brown.
