Dick grayson (Nightwing)

Dick Grayson was a circus acrobat from a prestigious family of trapeze artists who, when he was very young, saw his parents die at the hands of mobster Anthony Zucco and was adopted by Bruce Wayne. Later, after discovering Batman's identity, he was trained by him to become the first Robin and fight crime. But much later he decided to separate himself and fight under his own identity: Nightwing.

Dick Grayson was a twelve-year-old boy who lived in an acrobatic circus, being the youngest of the Flying Graysons. Dick joined his parents' act at a very young age, having been trained in the art of acrobatics since birth. Before a performance in Gotham City, in which the Graysons' act was the main attraction, they were asked to pose for a photo with Jack Drake and his family, including their young son. While on tour in Gotham City, he overheard Tony Zucco, a notorious and feared crime lord, threatening the circus owner with a bribe in exchange for protection. The owner refused, and the next night Dick watched in horror as his parents' wire snapped overhead, sending them hurtling to their deaths in full view of Gotham's elite, including Bruce Wayne and Tim Drake. Shortly after the tragedy, Bruce Wayne decided to adopt Dick, but the boy refused as he did not want to replace his late father with the billionaire. Frustrated by the lack of attention from his new guardian and the mystery surrounding his parents' deaths, Dick snuck out of Wayne Manor one night to solve the crime on his own (that night he only encountered Batman, who was also investigating the murder). After awakening in the Batcave, he is shocked to learn that Bruce is really the Batman. Together they succeed in revealing Zucco's complicity in the murder, but at that moment the gangster dies of a heart attack. Seeing a reflection of himself in Dick, Batman made the young orphan the offer that would change his life, the chance to become his partner in crime-fighting. Dick chose the name Robin, as it was the nickname his mother gave him, and began his training.

The young wonder

Bruce taught Dick fighting techniques and detective skills for 6 months. Finally, Dick had to pass one final test - "the gauntlet". Dick had to evade the Dark Knight on the streets of Gotham for one night - from dusk to dawn - without any outside help. Dick succeeded. Robin, the Boy Wonder, was born. Dick enjoyed his first year as Robin, until his first confrontation with Two-Face, which was a rude awakening for the young hero. Two-Face had captured the new District Attorney and Batman, and had each of them suspended from a hangman's noose in a "double gallows death trap." Robin, in trying to save the DA, used a Batarang to cut the rope. His plan worked, but it failed to take into account Dent's obsession with the number two - and since it was a double trap, the floor gave way, dropping the DA into a tank of water, where he drowned. Robin was unable to prevent his death, and received a beating at the hands of Two-Face. A beating that Batman witnessed, still tied to the platform trying to free himself. Batman was eventually able to break free and stop Two-Face. This event, however, marked the young crime fighter.

Teen Titans

Dick continued his adventures with Batman, and began attending college. Robin began taking on solo missions as well, and found himself capable of fighting crime alone. Shortly after, Dick Grayson, and several other young heroes, formed a new group "Teen Titans" along with Speedy (Roy Harper), Boy Flash (Wally West), Wonder Girl (Donna Troy) and Aqualad (other young superhero companions). Nightwing (at that time Robin) improved his detective and martial arts skills during his years with Batman and the Titans. Assuming the identity of Nightwing, Dick Grayson would continue to lead the Titans. He meets Starfire, with whom he falls in love and after a few years of dating, he was even one step away from getting married. During that time Dick and Bruce resolve their previous conflicts and trust each other again. Years later, Grayson changes his identity to become Nightwing, a change that is symbolized by the relationship between him and Batman, and his desire to be a more independent superhero. His suit was inspired by what his parents wore when they performed in the circus. Over the years Nightwing has earned the respect of many people and is seen as the best assistant of all time. He was for a time in charge of the Outsiders group. Currently, according to the Gotham Knights series, Grayson is Bruce Wayne's adopted son, since before he was only his protégé (his ward).

Grayson is a top-notch acrobat due to his training as a trapeze artist. He is also a master of many forms of fighting including: Aikido, Savate, Judo, and Capoeira. He is one of the greatest detectives due to his training with Batman. He is also equipped with eagle-shaped batarangs that he called Night Wings; he is also equipped with electrified Eskrima (Kali) sticks.
