Appearance

Doma was a Demon who maintained part of his human traits with slight subtle differences; Standing out is his moderate musculature, his pale blue nails which are long and pointed, his pale skin, and thick black eyebrows [4]. His hair could appear silver [5] or pale golden blonde [6]. It was shorter to the left and the rest extended to the right, in addition several uneven strands expanded in both directions. Part of his hair fell forward, covering part of his forehead and leaving both his eyes and eyebrows visible. He used to wear his hair down and the ends of it would fall down his back in a spiral-like shape [4]. Several have described his eyes as incredibly rare and beautiful, as, in color, they appear to be made up of a variety of rainbow pastel shades that fade into each other as they surround his iris; This unusual appearance even makes people believe in Doma[7]. He is, according to his followers, a blessed being who can communicate with the gods. Like all the superior moons, they have the kanji in both eyes, in their case the Second Crescent (弐上弦, Ni jōgen?)[8] and previously the Sixth Crescent (陸上弦, Roku jōgen?) that accredits them. as one of the twelve demonic moons. As for his clothing, he wore a long-sleeved red shirt[4] that fitted closely to his body, allowing his muscles to be noticeable, while the collar of the shirt was surrounded by a black pattern giving the impression of a dripping stain. He wore beige pants with black lines fastened with a gold-tone belt with a silver buckle [6].

On other occasions he was seen wearing a type of jacket similar to a black short-sleeved haori with wide pink edges and patterns in black rectangles and squares. Accompanied by a large black crown with gold designs and at the ends extended black ribbons[9]. He used to carry a fan[9] with its golden ribs and a pattern of pink flowers and green leaves while at the end of its handle fell a rope in green tones[5].

Personality

Doma may have appeared to be a friendly and charismatic individual, but far from reality, he was a deadly and calculating being. Believing that he was saving them from their suffering, he happily devoured his followers and other young women. While he might appear to care for his comrades, he felt no genuine sorrow for their deaths. He was quite nihilistic and lacked human emotion, admitting that even during his human days, the entire concept of emotion was completely foreign to him. Aware that this was abnormal, he made up for his empty "heart" with lies, learning to fake his emotions enough to fool all but the most keen observers.[10] He is shown to be a psychopath, lacking empathy even for his dying parents, complaining about the smell of blood they gave off. In addition to his inability to feel emotions, he has also shown inhuman amounts of pain tolerance, suffering from Congenital Insensitivity.[11] He has been shown to have several disturbing and unsettling habits, such as sticking his finger into his skull, drilling a hole directly through his temples, and then stroking and manipulating his brain to stimulate his memories of his long life with a completely serene expression on his face.[11]

During his interactions with his fellow Upper Moons member Akaza, he showed no negative reactions to his constant fatal physical attacks and causing his head to explode. In fact, he considered this to be their form of personal "greeting" between two "best friends". Doma even implied that he actually enjoyed these physical abuses as seen when he morbidly asked Muzan Kibutsuji with excitement about what kind of extreme self-harm he should inflict on himself as punishment for his failure[4] and again expressed his delight at Shinobu Kocho for her numerous attempts to poison and kill him[6]. Despite leading a cult, he was an atheist who firmly believed that gods, Buddhas, and the afterlife did not exist. He believed that after death there was nothing and that people who "could not accept something so simple" were naive and foolish. However, after his death, he accepts that he was wrong and that Heaven and Hell really do exist. He also shows what his first true emotion might be; an attraction to Shinobu Kochō to which he asks her, "So this feeling is what they call love?" to which she replies, "You're cute, Shinobu."[10]

After the fight, both demons are defeated [4] and on the verge of death, Gyutaro begins to remember his past [5]. During his days as a human, Gyutaro dedicated himself to working as a collector since people feared him due to his appearance [6]. One day, while returning home from work, he finds the body of his sister, Daki, completely cremated after being punished for wounding a samurai. After hours of searching in an attempt to help his sister, he falls unconscious to the ground. At that moment, a member of the Twelve Demonic Moons who turns out to be Doma, who at that time was the Sixth Higher Moon appears before him and offers to give them blood to save them both on the condition that they become demons and aspire to reach occupy a position among the superior demons[7].

Due to the loss of two members of the Twelve Demon Moons, the rest are summoned to the Infinite Dimensional Fortress[8]. Inside the fortress, several members are already waiting for their leader. Akaza speaks with Nakime to inquire about the whereabouts of Upper Moon One but their conversation is interrupted when Doma arrives on the scene and places his arm around him causing Akaza to become upset. Doma questions Akaza for his lack of concern for him and mentions that he was worried about his comrades all along[9]. Gyokko greets Doma, who tells him that he decorated the vase he received as a gift with the head of a young girl. Akaza asks Doma to move his arm, but when he doesn't get an immediate response, he proceeds to hit his face. Doma loses part of his jaw, but quickly regenerates it and congratulates his partner on the great blow he landed. Nakime interrupts the two, revealing that Upper Moon One was the first to arrive at the fortress and the entire time he was sitting silently in another part of the room. [10] The Upper Moon One, Kokushibo, reports his arrival and welcomes Muzan. Doma and the rest of his companions wait anxiously for their leader to speak. Muzan reveals that Gyutaro and Daki were killed, and as a result of their deaths, the number of the Twelve Demon Moons has decreased. Doma apologizes as he was the one who turned Gyutaro into a demon and offers to injure himself as punishment.[11]

Muzan is disappointed at how incapable and weak his subordinates are; he orders them all to begin serving with much greater devotion to his cause and even if that involves suicide. Before ending the meeting, Muzan gives Gyokko an important mission and Doma tries to obtain information to accompany him. Akaza becomes angry with his companion's intentions and, with a simple blow, cuts off half of his companion's head for trying to go on a mission to which he was not assigned [12]. At the same time that he cut off the head of his partner, Kokushibo, she punishes him by cutting off his hand for going against the hierarchy they follow. Doma tries to calm his partner down, claiming that he is not upset with what happened. Kokushibo adds that if Akaza wishes to occupy a higher position, he recommends that he face Doma to the death; The latter interrupts by assuring that there is no way for Akaza to win since he is superior to him in many ways[13]. After Kokushibo leaves the room, Doma says goodbye to him and tries to start a conversation with Akaza but he leaves, leaving him alone. Gyokko prepares to go on his mission and Doma tries to go with him again but Nakime blows his biwa, interrupting his intentions. Left alone, he tries to invite Nakime but she doesn't allow him to finish and rejects her invitation [14]. Later, Doma moves to his house and feels sad at the cold attitude of his colleagues. At that moment, one of his subordinates introduces himself and mentions that his followers have arrived at the place and are waiting for him. Upon the arrival of his followers, he proceeds to put on a large black crown and prepares to welcome them [15].

Infinite Dimensional Fortress Arc: Some time later, the Demon Extermination Corps begins the attack on the Infinite Dimensional Fortress in order to finish off Muzan[16]. All the hunters were distributed in different points of the fortress[17]. Shinobu Kochō walks through the hallways trying to discover where he is when he begins to smell a strong smell of blood. He decides to enter the room where said smell comes from [18]. Shinobu slowly opens one of the doors of the many rooms of the fortress and ends up finding Doma surrounded by several bodies of dead women and he eating one of them. Doma notices his presence and is happy to see that his opponent is a woman [19]. Shinobu looks angrily at the scene and begins to remember the death of her sister who described the demon responsible for the attack as one with blood stains on its head, with a carefree smile and who has the habit of addressing others with a gentle and calm tone. . While Shinobu is still in shock, Doma appears before her but is interrupted by one of the women who survived her attack. Doma seems a little upset and asks the young woman to keep quiet about her as she tries to talk to the newcomer. Doma then tries to kill her but Shinobu manages to save her [20].

Immediately, Doma notices that her speed is not normal for a hunter and asks if she is a pillar. Shinobu does not seem to pay attention to her and focuses on the young girl she just saved, however, she ends up dying dismembered in her arms. Doma tries to start a new conversation but Shinobu is still in shock from what happened. [21] Shinobu, still remembering her sister, turns her gaze to Doma and recognizes him as the demon responsible for her death. Doma continues his introduction and reveals himself to be the founder of the Eternal Paradise Cult, and as part of his job is to make everyone happy, he takes it upon himself to eat anyone who asks him for help. Shinobu does not understand the purpose of his job. Doma goes on to explain that by eating them, humans stop feeling pain and any kind of suffering; since they fear death, by carrying out his job, he can allow them to live forever by being a part of it. Shinobu becomes angry at Doma's crazy ideas.[22] Doma doesn't understand why he's suddenly hostile, since they've only just met, and suggests that Shinobu listen to all of his problems so that he can get over his anger. Shinobu boils with rage as he claims that Doma is his sister's murderer; Shinobu looks at her haori and remembers a young girl who used Flower Breathing. He confesses that he didn't have the chance to eat her at the time because the sun was rising and that he always wished he could eat her. Shinobu doesn't let him continue talking and stabs his eye with her sword. [23]

Doma is surprised by the attack and congratulates her since she was not able to dodge it in time. Then, she proceeds to use the Demonic Blood Technique on her; applying a technique called Ice Lotus that allows the manifestation of large lotuses surrounded by sharp leaves. Shinobu manages to dodge the attack without much trouble but begins to worry when he realizes that the technique is accompanied by a cold wind capable of destroying the lungs with a simple breath [24]. Doma explains to Shinobu that, if she wants to kill him, she should aim for his neck and not just stab him. Shinobu is sure she can't kill him with simple stabs but he can do it with poison. Immediately afterwards, Doma falls to his knees to the ground while his body begins to turn purple from the effects of the poison. Shinobu doesn't feel sure the poison will work on a higher moon like him.[25]

Doma begins vomiting a large amount of blood and claims that the poison used this time is even stronger than the one used during the fight against Rui. Shinobu is surprised to discover that they share information. Meanwhile, Doma mentions that the mixtures used in poisons can be adapted depending on the demon. Doma then uses his regeneration and creates antibodies with which he manages to break down the poison inside his body.[26] Shinobu cannot believe that his poison was so easily broken down. Doma continues talking and reveals that he was able to figure out how his Nichirin sword performs the poison switching since it makes a different sound during the switch. He finds the situation amusing and mentions that he might come to like the idea of being attacked with poison. Shinobu remains calm and prepares to continue fighting.[27] After stabilizing, Doma has a brief flashback to his days as a human. Due to his rainbow-colored eyes and white hair, he was idolized as a God within the Eternal Paradise Cult but was never able to hear the voice of any God and only decided to play along with the people around him out of pure pity.[28]

Back in the battle, Shinobu tries to use different types of poisons against Doma but none of them work and she begins to feel more and more tired due to the effects that Doma's technique has. Shinobu decides to continue the battle even though her lungs are deteriorating more and more. She proceeds to attack Doma by applying Insect Breath, Dragonfly Dance: Compound Hexagonal Eye, performing several thrusts on his body. Doma claims that she is the fastest pillar she has ever faced and, simultaneously, manages to cut Shinobu's collarbone, ribs and pierce one of Shinobu's lungs, leaving her practically mortally wounded [29]. Shinobu falls to the ground and begins to lose blood. Doma mocks her by mentioning again that she should cut her throat instead of playing with her venom and even assures her that, because of her great speed, she could defeat him quickly. Doma retracts the latter while she laughs. Shinobu begins to cry helplessly realizing that her efforts were in vain and she wishes she could have a body that would help her defeat a demon like Doma [30]. Shinobu continues to lament and almost losing any hope of victory, the spirit of her sister helps her gain strength. Meanwhile, Doma apologizes to her for the careless wound he inflicted on her. Shinobu decides to stand up again and prepares to continue the battle despite her loss of blood. Doma is surprised by the resistance she possesses and doubts that she possesses human abilities since the wound she has is mortal. She adds that she should stop being stubborn and deserves to be saved. Ignoring the demon's words, Shinobu attacks using Insect Breath, Centipede Dance: Hundred-Legged Zigzag, managing to stab him and send him flying towards the ceiling[31].

When it seems that he has triumphed, Doma quickly recovers and as Shinobu falls to the ground, he puts his arms around her and congratulates her on all the effort she has put into the fight and assures her that she will live peacefully as a part of him. He then gives her the chance to give her final words. Shinobu simply curses him.[32] Meanwhile, Kanao Tsuyuri runs through the halls of the fortress in search of Shinobu. She enters one of the rooms and witnesses how Doma begins to absorb her master's body. Kanao tries to attack to save Shinobu but Doma moves through space at a speed almost imperceptible to the human eye and he claims that she should not interrupt him when he is in the middle of something important like his meal. Finally, Shinobu ends up being absorbed by Doma who leaves her only her hair clip[33]. At the same time as Doma was fighting Shinobu, Akaza was fighting Giyu Tomioka and Tanjiro Kamado, resulting in Akaza being the loser of the battle.[34] Doma can sense that his comrade has vanished and feels strange because he believes that he became something different in his final moments. He decides not to pay attention to the matter and asks Kanao for her name, who ends up introducing herself as Shinobu's sister. Doma realizes that they are not related by blood, but he will devour her anyway.[35]

While remembering his taste for women's flesh, Doma remembers that Akaza was destined to lose because he was never able to eat one. He seems to be bothered by the fact that his partner received special treatment but he ends up crying when remembering his death. Kanao, unable to bear his act anymore, asks him to stop. Doma does not understand his request and she explains how obvious his lies are and assures him that he is not capable of having real emotions, asking him in the same way why he was born in this world, showing an expression never seen before, feeling hatred for the first time. time. Upon hearing such words, for the first time in her life, Doma becomes enraged and moves with great agility in order to cut Kanao's neck [36]. Kanao senses Doma's attack and narrowly manages to dodge it. Doma continues attacking but Kanao reacts and makes a cut in his abdomen. Doma counterattacks by manifesting several lotuses around her but Kanao proves to be quickly adapting to the demon's way of fighting, making him worry because she seems to be stronger than Shinobu [37]. Kanao, who seems calm, claims that she can only stand before a demon as terrifying as Doma because of the fury she feels when she sees him. In a state of fury, Kanao continues attacking as she applies Flower Breath, Fifth Stance: Peony of Futility. Doma avoids all attacks as if it were a simple game and warns that it is her turn to attack [38].

Doma uses his Demonic Blood Technique by applying a technique called Snowfall on a Withered Garden, creating several waves of ice around him but Kanao quickly counters the attack. At that moment, Doma discovers that the young woman is concentrating her sharp vision on seeing all the movements of her muscles in order to guess her actions and thus attack him. After this analysis, Doma decides to gouge out Kanao's eyes, and she immediately avoids it by implementing her breathing technique again [39]. The battle between the two continues as they continue to exchange various attacks with their respective techniques. The distance between them is increasingly wider, so Doma recommends that she get closer if she wants to cut off her head. Immediately afterwards, Doma disappears from her field of vision, leaving Kanao confused. At that moment, she notices that her nichirin sword has disappeared and Doma is a few centimeters behind her [40]. Doma shows him her sword and decides to leave it aside. Now unable to defend herself from the demon, Kanao analyzes the situation very quickly in order to look for something in her favor. Doma's ice attacks begin to hurt the young hunter but she does not back down and she continues looking for something she can continue fighting with. Immediately afterwards, Inosuke arrives on the scene from the roof, surprising Doma and Kanao[41]. Immediately, Inosuke uses his breathing technique to protect Kanao from Doma's attack [42]. Inosuke observes the demon and claims that he will defeat it so he can become a pillar, leaving Doma very surprised with the way he acts. The young hunter continues talking until he sees Kanao's state and scolds her for worrying Shinobu about her injuries. Seeing his partner's reaction, Inosuke tries to find out if the pillar has died but is interrupted by Doma who exclaims that she did not die but had the opportunity to live eternally as a part of him [43].

In a fit of rage upon discovering what happened, Inosuke assures Doma that he will take care of tearing him to pieces and attacks him. Kanao is surprised and asks him not to inhale the wind that the demon manifests with his technique since it can destroy his lungs. Inosuke begins to attack but Doma protects himself from his attacks while praising his combat skills. Doma tries to cut Inosuke's neck but he performs a maneuver in the air that allows him to avoid receiving the attack and returns to Kanao and gives him the sword that was previously stolen by Doma, the latter is surprised by the great speed of the young hunter and decides to close the distance that separates them but Inosuke quickly counterattacks and manages to cut part of the demon's eyes. [44] Doma flatters Inosuke again and he is distracted allowing the demon to take his mask. Inosuke becomes angry but, at that moment, Doma observes him closely and mentions recognizing his face[45] but, not being able to remember where he recognizes him from, he pierces a finger in his head and begins to stimulate his memories where he ends up remembering that 15 years ago he met Kotoha, Inosuke's mother, the latter wishes to stop listening and attacks in order to recover his mask. Doma becomes upset by the interruption and makes an X-shaped cut on the young hunter's chest. He continues telling his story and reveals that his mother left a strong impression on him[46].

Although for Doma, Kotoha Hashibira was nothing more than a fool, her beauty and her talent for singing prevented him from devouring her since he found her attractive for those reasons, but everything changed when she discovered that Doma was devouring several of her. his followers. Faced with this horrific scenario, Kotoha fled the cult with her baby Inosuke in her arms. Before being killed by Doma, she threw Inosuke off a cliff into the river hoping she would survive. Doma then soon caught up to them and proceeded to quickly kill her and mock Inosuke for her fate, before eating Kotoha down to the bones [47]. Inosuke mentions being glad that the demon that killed her mother and friends is in front of him since that way she can finish it [48]. The battle continues and Inosuke applies various stances. Doma mentions that she is having fun and she wishes she could keep it up longer. Kanao decides to attack the demon but it dodges the attack effortlessly and quickly moves away from both young people. Inosuke asks him to return but Doma claims he cannot continue wasting time since Akaza was defeated and must take care of other things. Instead, she manifests smaller versions of him made of ice and with the same level of strength [49].

Doma prepares to leave the room, causing Inosuke to panic at not being able to defeat him. Kanao asks him to remain calm and hold on for a few more minutes. Doma doesn't understand what he's talking about and prepares to leave, when suddenly, Doma's body begins to melt and he doesn't understand what happened until he remembers Shinobu[50]. Long before the final battle, Shinobu knew that she was going to die at the hands of Doma, so, foreseeing that this would happen, and with the help of Tamayo, she inoculated herself for a year with a strong dose of Glycine poison in her body whose amount was thirty-seven kilograms, her body weight and in addition the dose administered was seven hundred times more potent than common doses[51][52]. Doma falls to the ground as his entire body begins to melt and dismember. He desperately tries to regenerate himself but fails. The dolls he had created disappear and Inosuke thinks it's a trap but Kanao confirms that her master's poison was working, so they had to go for his head. The demon does not give up and uses his last strength to implement his Demonic Blood Technique, applying Bodhisattva Frost Lotuses allowing him to create a large Buddhist ice statue surrounded by large lotuses in order to protect himself from the attack of both hunters. [53]

Kanao and Inosuke are surprised at how much strength Doma has left despite being dying. In a desperate attempt to prevent Doma from regenerating, Kanao uses his Breath of the Flower applying the final posture of the same even though he is aware that this could cause blindness. With the active technique, Kanao is able to perceive each of the movements of the great statue created by Doma[54]. Doma tries to regenerate while she protects herself with the large statue. Kanao breaks through the technique and prepares to cut off the demon's head. Meanwhile, the sculpture blows a cold blizzard that partially freezes the young hunter's back but Inosuke throws his swords so that they hit against Kanao's sword and give greater force to his cut as if they were scissors, thus managing to cut off Kanao's head. Dressage[55]. As he dies, Doma feels pathetic for losing to a group of weak hunters and tries to regenerate his head as Akaza but fails and realizes that he is about to die, remembering his childhood in which his father was someone lustful who He founded the cult just to surround himself with women, until his mother discovered him, murdered him and later she committed suicide by ingesting poison. Doma's only reaction to this scene was to open the windows of the room to eliminate the stench of blood[56]. After dying, Shinobu and the head of Doma are talking to each other. Shinobu tells Doma that she regrets not being able to help her companions in the fight against Muzan but, despite this, she is satisfied with the result. Doma, after observing her, finally shows emotion by saying that she has fallen in love with Shinobu and proposes that they go to hell together, however, she with a biting smile and insulting him declines her offer [57].

Physical Skills

Demon skills: As a member of the Twelve Demonic Moons, holding the Upper Moon Two, he possessed incredible physical capabilities enhanced by the blood of Muzan Kibutsuji coursing through his body. He even claimed that not even the Upper Moon Three, Akaza, would be able to defeat him. His high level of strength is also demonstrated after he killed the former Pillar of Flowers, Kanae Kocho and the Pillar of Insects, Shinobu Kocho without much effort. Regeneration: Like the rest of the Demons, he had the ability to quickly regenerate his lost limbs or injuries that for a human could be life-threatening. This ability was demonstrated when Akaza cut his face in half and he showed no problems in regenerating it in a matter of seconds. He was able to regenerate the multiple wounds obtained during his battle with the insect pillar, Shinobu Kocho and with other members of the extermination corps. In addition, he usually heals the wounds he inflicts without much effort. Absorption: Doma has shown the ability to absorb the bodies of his victims completely without the need to eat them or cause them injuries. The bodies, as they are absorbed, begin to decompose inside until absolutely nothing remains of them.

Demonic Blood Techniques

The waves are launched in the form of bursts of snow or ice that surround and protect Doma's body from any attack, and are also used to attack the enemy due to its sharp structure[1]. "Frozen Cloud" (凍いて曇ぐもり, Itegumori?): by moving its fans in the shape of an oval disk, it allows it to launch a large burst that takes the shape of a cloud surrounded by ice particles that allows any object or object to freeze. person who comes into contact with it[1].
