Persona Attributes

Doma correctly deducing Kanao's abilities and developing a counter-strategy mid-fight.

[Keen Intellect("Doma is exceptionally intelligent, which he displayed on multiple occasions. While in a fast-paced brawl with Kanao, he was able to process and deduce her abilities, surmising that it was her superhuman eyesight that allowed her to parry and dodge his ice attacks and immediately develop a strategy to counter it. In another instance, when he left Kanao and Inosuke to fight his ice clones, he construed that Inosuke had an acute sense of touch just by observing his behavior when near his ice techniques. It is also implied that Doma was able to trick and deceive all of his followers, allowing him to kill and eat them. He was able to keep this up for over a century with almost complete infallibility. Doma also possesses incredible memory, being able to remember even the most insignificant details from back when he was human, which was over a century ago.")] [Demon Abilities Biological Absorption("Doma briefly displayed the ability to absorb human bodies through physical contact, shown when he completely broke down and assimilated Shinobu's body within only a few seconds of killing her. He mostly uses this ability as a faster alternative of consuming humans during battle.")]

Doma regenerates a portion of his head.

[Immense Regeneration("As an Upper Rank demon, Doma possesses one of the most advanced and powerful regenerative healing factors in existence. When Akaza punched off both his lower jaw and the upper portion of his head, he instantly healed with ease, even considering the fatal attack to be a friendly gesture. Doma also took mere seconds to recover from Shinobu's onslaught of fatal Wisteria poison attacks and from a deep slash in his abdomen which caused his guts to spill out. Even when Doma absorbed Shinobu's body and ingested over 37 kilograms worth of poison, approximately 700 times more than the lethal amount needed to kill an average demon, it still took a considerable amount of time before it began to have any adverse effect on him. • Reactive Adaptation: During his battle against Shinobu, he is able to break down and render all of the various poison mixtures Shinobu injected into him useless, immediately developing antibodies to her poison without much trouble. Shinobu herself was shocked at how fast Doma built a resistance to her normally fatal poison. [Physical Abilities Immense Durability("As an Upper Rank demon who has assimilated a huge amount of Muzan's blood, Doma has an exceptionally durable body. This is shown when Kanao had difficultly slicing Doma's neck even when his body was falling apart due to the extreme dosage of poison he received. Kanao only succeeded in decapitating the Upper Rank when Inosuke used his swords to push her blade through Doma's neck.")]

Fighting Style

[Tessenjutsu("Doma is incredibly skilled in Tessenjutsu as shown during his battles against the Demon Slayers. It is implied that his skill in this martial arts surpasses Akaza's bare-fisted combat prowess due to his superior ranking compared to Akaza. Doma showcased his skill in dual wielding his Japanese war fans against Kanao and Inosuke, where he could easily fend off both combatants, displaying his ability in using his fans for both attacking and defending during high-speed battles, parrying and delivering attacks that overwhelmed the Demon Slayers. With his exceptional proficiency in Tessenjutsu, Doma could make use of techniques that require him to perform eight to nine fan attacks in the blink of an eye and generate huge gusts of air with them. Furthermore, Doma's Tessenjutsu incorporates his cryokinetic Blood Demon Art which enhances its range and lethality, making his fighting style a great blend of offense and defense.")]

Blood demon art | Doma's technique rapidly freezing the surroundings.

[Cryokinesis("Doma's Blood Demon Art grants him extremely powerful cryokinesis. He can generate ice and frost from his flesh and blood and can spawn it anywhere in his vicinity, as well as manipulating it at will, allowing him to unleash incredibly potent ice techniques. Additionally, the ice created from his Blood Demon Art is extremely lethal to those that inhale it, causing the cells of the victim's lungs to die and rendering them unable to breathe very quickly. His ice and frost has also been noted to be extremely cold, as shown when the air around Doma's frost was cold enough to make Shinobu's lungs feel as if they were about to burst and nearly freeze Kanao's body and surroundings just by coming into contact with it. Doma is incredibly proficient in his Blood Demon Art, being capable of creating constructs out of the ice he generates such as frost lotuses, stalagmites, clouds of icy air and even miniature ice clones of himself capable of unleashing the same techniques as him. He has also shown the ability to use the ice he creates as extra appendages, as seen when he created ice vines to hold himself up the ceiling while he uses his arms to hug Shinobu. In combat, Doma usually incorporates his cryokinetic abilities with his Tessenjutsu, enhancing his fan attacks with ice and frost. Doma prefers to use his Blood Demon Art to create frost lotuses and crystal-like shards made of ice.")]

[Techniques(".("• Frozen Lotus (蓮葉氷, Hasuhagōri?) - Doma delivers a forward fan slash that creates razor-sharp ice shards along with several ice lotuses.+• Barren Hanging Garden (枯園垂り, Karesono Shizuri?) - A series of 8 to 10 successive fan attacks that generates ice shards to slice the enemy into pieces.")]

[Techniques("• Freezing Clouds (凍て曇, Itegumori?) - Doma creates a large wave of cold wind and uses his fans to scatter them. This technique nearly froze Kanao's eyeballs."+"• Lotus Vines (蔓蓮華, Tsuru Renge?) - Similar to his Frozen Lotus technique, Doma creates several lotuses made of ice and long frost vines that extend his reach and can capture or slice up his opponents."+"• Cold White Princesses (寒烈の白姫, Kanretsu no Shirahime?) - Doma creates the upper body of two female humanoid figures at the end of lotuses using ice with the ability to blow icy air towards his target. The wind generated was cold enough to instantly freeze the surrounding wood bridges and water. Kanao noted that this technique is extremely broad and has a long reach."+"• Wintry Icicles (冬ざれ氷柱, Fuyuzare Tsurara?) - Doma spawns numerous icicles to impale his target."+"• Scattering Lotuses (散り蓮華, Chiri Renge?) - Doma swings his fans and creates a blizzard of long-ranged razor-sharp ice shards shaped like lotus petals."+"• Crystalline Divine Child (結晶ノ御子, Kesshō no Miko?) - Doma creates miniature ice replicas of himself to battle his opponents. He has shown to be capable of creating up to six clones of himself at once, all possessing roughly the same skill and proficiency as Doma himself in addition to being fully capable of using any of his techniques, albeit not to the same caliber as him. Furthermore, these clones are able to record any information it gathers during battle and relay it to Doma, allowing him to better fight his opponents. However, one drawback to this technique is that the clones require concentration in order to maintain their functionality, as seen when they disappeared when Shinobu's poison started to take effect on Doma.")]

[Equipment("Japanese War Fans: Doma carries around a pair of gold-plated Japanese war fans most likely fashioned from his flesh (similar to all other weapons used by demons), that act as his main offensive weapons and aid in spreading his Blood Demon Art. His fans are of a golden color with several patterns resembling lotuses engraved on the side complete with a green tassel. They are extremely sharp and suited for his style of combat, being able to slice and slash as well as swords and generate huge gusts of air. They are also shown to be extremely durable, withstanding multiple sword slashes and attacks without breaking.")] [Techniques("• Rime — Water Lily Bodhisattva (霧氷・睡蓮菩薩, Muhyō - Suiren Bosatsu?) - Doma creates an enormous Bodhisattva statue surrounded by lotuses made of ice. Its most notable trait is its ability to generate huge gusts of Doma's deadly ice from its mouth and deliver powerful physical attacks using its large arms. It is also able to grab targets using its hands.")]

As a Human - Doma as a human child.

[("Over a century ago, Doma was born a child with extraordinary features. His rainbow-colored eyes and pale hair led people to consider him special and believed he could communicate with the gods. His parents, whom he considered extremely dim-witted, placed him as the head of a cult they formed, which became known as the Paradise Faith. Scornful of his parent's low intelligence, he nonetheless played along and accepted his role; despite this, he never once heard the gods' voices. Seated at an elaborately decorated room as the figurehead of the cult, Doma was met by numerous people who asked him for advice and help for suffering they had in their lives. He considered these stories extremely boring and was confused why they came to a child for help. These people asked him to lead them to paradise, causing Doma to cry, since he never believed paradise, the gods and Buddha were real. To him, they were nothing more that a fantasy created by humanity and he bemoaned that people believed in something so fictitious to him. Doma was also apathetic, being entirely unable to understand and feel human emotion. When he was still a child, his mother had a mental breakdown and stabbed his father to death for having numerous affairs with many other female cult followers. She committed suicide immediately afterwards by poisoning herself to death. However, despite these series of harrowing events happening right in front of him, Doma only felt annoyed by the bloody mess created in the aftermath and was disgusted by the pungent smell of blood. He simply wanted to air out the room before the stench permanently stuck to the furniture.")]

Life as a Demon - Muzan turns Doma into a demon Muzan turning Doma into a demon.

[("At 20 years old, he met Muzan Kibutsuji, who transformed him into a Demon. Doma would continue to lead the cult, only with a new mission. He became convinced that it truly was his mission to help people into paradise, and did so by devouring his followers. To him, paradise and the cease of pain can be found if he devours them, and their deaths at his hand meant that they will suffer no more pain. Doma continued this twisted ambition for most of his life.")]

Doma finds Ume and Gyutaro in Yoshiwara.

[("At some point, Doma became Upper Rank Six of the Twelve Kizuki. During that time, while he was roaming around the Entertainment District and feasting off the flesh of the geishas and other young maidens, he stumbled across the siblings Gyutaro and his younger sister Ume, who were both at death's door—Gyutaro had been stabbed in the back and was slowly bleeding to death while Ume had been burned to the point of being unrecognizable. Being "kindhearted," Doma offered to turn the pair into demons and save them, proceeding to give them his blood to initiate their transformation. He also entertains the idea that they'd become powerful enough to be recognized by "That Man" and become an Upper Rank in the Twelve Kizuki. At some point, Doma became Upper Rank Two, surpassing Upper Rank Three, Akaza, despite becoming a Demon more recently than him, much to Akaza's chagrin. However, despite Doma's immense power, Muzan despised the demon's casual and happy-go-lucky attitude, and as a result rarely sent him on missions, in stark contrast to Akaza, who was well liked by the King of Demons as was regularly given tasks, This caused Doma to complain that Muzan gave special treatment to Akaza. Fifteen years prior to the present, Doma had a brief history with Inosuke Hashibira. His mother, Kotoha Hashibira, escaped from her abusive household with his father and found refuge in the Paradise Faith cult. Kotoha's husband and mother-in-law entered the cult too, but Doma found them too noisy, murdered them, and abandoned their corpses in the mountains.")]

Rime - Water Lily Bodhisattva.

[("Doma's ice Bodhisattva statue slams down its hand on the floor of the room, creating a small earthquake that sends Inosuke and Kanao up into the air. Kanao notes that his technique lacks precision, and is clearly the Demon's last effort to protect himself with the little energy he had left, deciding to use her final form, Flower Breathing, Final Form: Equinoctial Vermilion Eye to try and break through him. Doma's statue grabs Inosuke in one of its hands as Kanao leaps towards the Upper Rank, hitting her blade against his neck. She is unable to cut it, so Inosuke, on the spot, comes up with and uses Beast Breathing, Sudden Throwing Strike to hurl his blades at Kanao's to give it the extra strength needed to cut Doma's neck. They succeed in beheading him, and Upper Rank 2 and his statue begin to disintegrate. As his head falls to the floor, Doma thinks about how pathetic he must be to have lost to a poisoner like Shinobu, someone who didn't even have the strength to kill a Demon by cutting its head. He thinks to himself that he shouldn't give up, and that he should try and regenerate his head like Muzan can and Akaza almost did, but soon comes to realize that that would be futile, and that he is going to die. In his final moments however, despite seemingly panicking at his imminent demise, Doma comes to the realization that he is not afraid of death or even frustrated that he lost, and recalls his past as a human and his inability to feel any emotion, particularly the incident where he failed to feel any emotion upon witnessing the murder-suicide of his parents.")]

Doma/Relationships - Relationships Muzan Kibutsuji | Doma remembers being transformed into a demon by Muzan.

[Muzan Kibutsuji("Doma met Muzan and became a demon at the age of twenty. He steadily developed his powers over centuries and eventually became Muzan's second most powerful subordinate and held the position of Upper Two of the Twelve Kizuki. Doma seemingly adored Muzan and would continually talk to him as if Muzan were his friend. During the meeting of the Upper Ranks, Doma excited offered to gouge his eyeballs as response to Muzan's rant over his continual disappointment in their failure. Doma's lack of fear and inability to show true emotion infuriated him, who desired to be feared and respected, and Muzan never liked Doma as a result.")]

Upper ranks - Doma explaining Akaza's source of anger to Kokushibo. | Relationships

[Upper ranks("Doma acted friendly towards his fellow Upper Ranks. It was his personal belief that superior beings should treat their subordinates fairly and as Upper Two, he was respectful of the demons lower ranked than him. During the meeting in the Infinity Castle, he chatted with Gyokko while waiting for Muzan's arrival, complimenting the pot he was given in his cult room. Notably, he respected Kokushibo's authority as the one Upper Rank more powerful than himself; as such, he gently tried to calm him down when he angrily reprimanded Akaza for attacking him, claiming that is their method of getting along. When told he was reinforcing the hierarchy of the Upper Ranks, Doma doesn't deny his words but also responds that they should treat them more justly as the two strongest demons.")] [Akaza("Because of his desire to become stronger and Doma's strength allowing him to surpass himself to become Upper Two, Akaza harboured an intense hatred of Doma. Doma, as apathetic as he is, considered him his "best friend", seemingly ignoring the contempt Akaza possessed. His carefree and bubbly personality is in stark contrast to Akaza's headstrong and aggressive nature. Moreover, Doma would continually ask his subordinate to eat women, like himself, as he believed they have more nutritional value to demons than men; Akaza vehemently refused to do so and Doma believes this was why he surpassed him in power.")]

Doma greeting Akaza.

[("During the Upper Ranks Meeting, Doma approaches Akaza and nonchalantly asks if he was worried about him, claiming that he was worried about everyone since they were comrades. Instead of returning his words, Akaza commands him to remove his arm off his shoulder, before destroying part of Doma's jaw when he doesn't do so immediately. Doma doesn't dodge the blow but rapidly heals the damage, before asking if Akaza had gotten stronger. Akaza's hatred for Doma can also be seen when he loses his patience and destroys Doma's head, after he attempts to join Gyokko's mission without Muzan's orders. After Kokushibo admonishes Akaza for attacking him, Doma tries to placate his superior and claims that it is simply their way of showing "friendship". Despite this, he snarkily insults Akaza by claiming he would never defeat him in battle, despite become a demon more recently than him. Later on during the battle within the Infinity Castle, Doma begins to tear up after hearing word of Akaza's passing, mourning his "best friend." However, Kanao is able to expose him saying that he does not feel any emotion and is simply acting, proving that Doma did not actually care for Akaza.")]

Doma finds Gyutaro and Ume. - Relationships

[Daki & Gyutaro("As revealed by Gyutaro during his final moments, Doma was the one who had initiated their transformations into demons after finding them on the brink of death. After Ume had been burned alive and Gyutaro had been slashed in the back by a Samurai, the latter carried her half burned body across the district for help, but upon realizing that people who would offer aid to them did not exist, collapsed from exhaustion from his wounds. Doma, having been wandering around the Red Light district to devour the beautiful women in the area, stumbled upon the half dead siblings. Due to supposedly being a "nice guy", he offered to give the siblings his blood and initiate their transformation into demon and challenged them to become strong enough to become an Upper Moon such as himself by impressing "him", a task that they succeeded in. A century later, after their deaths, Doma was shown to have "felt" a level of responsibility for them, this is seen where he had offered to mutilate himself as punishment for their deaths to Muzan due to him having been the one to initially introduce them to him and join their ranks as Demons.")]

Doma remembers Kanae by the butterfly wing design haori she once wore. - Relationships

[Kanae Kocho("Prior to the beginning of the series, Kanae faced off against Doma. The two fought until dawn, forcing Doma to escape before the arrival of the sun. Kanae was left with major injuries and died soon after their battle. Doma himself recognizes Kanae's haori which her younger sister, Shinobu now wears in the present, and recollects how he missed the opportunity to eat her. As stated by him, Doma acknowledged Kanae's strength during their fight and commended her for it, when he faced Shinobu years later. As revealed by her younger sisters, Kanae was able to tell that Doma lacked the ability to feel and experience genuine human emotions and pitied him for his apathy and inability to feel them. After her death, both Shinobu and Kanao made a point of using this information to insult and degrade Doma out of spite for killing her, genuinely enraging Doma due to them seeing past his supposedly friendly persona.")]

Relationships

[Kotoha Hashibira("Doma met Kotoha when she was roughly 18 years old, on a cold snowy night. She came to him while carrying her baby, and pleaded for him to save them from her abusive husband and mother-in-law. As a result, Doma killed her pursuers, and accepted Kotoha and her baby into his temple. Doma grew fond of her due to her beauty and singing ability, intending to keep her alive until she died of natural causes. However when she discovered that Doma was a Demon who was killing his followers, she ran from the temple to try to escape. Despite his fondness of her, Doma pursued Kotoha and murdered her in cold blood.")] [Inosuke Hashibira("After joining Kanao to assist in the fight against Doma, Inosuke becomes eager to defeat him so he can become a Hashira, leaving Doma intrigued by the new opponent. However once he discovers that Doma has killed one of his comrades, Inosuke becomes enraged and immediately rushes in to attack him. Despite being immediately attacked by Inosuke, Doma becomes curious about him and manages to remove Inosuke's mask, mentioning that he recognizes his face. Although Inosuke refuses to acknowledge that he has met him before, Doma explores his memories and reveals that he met Inosuke when he was a child, and was responsible for killing his mother, causing Inosuke to fill with hatred and engage in combat with the Demon.")]

Shinobu speaking with Doma. - Relationships

[Shinobu Kocho("Prior to their meeting, Shinobu harbored an intense hatred for Doma since he was responsible for killing her sister. Upon confronting him within the Infinity Castle, Shinobu becomes disgusted by his calm, bubbly demeanor claiming that he makes her feel sick and angrily tells him that her sister was killed by him. Doma adds insult to injury be recalling how displeased he was at not being able to eat Kanae, which causes Shinobu to stab him intensely through the eye, initiating a fight. Despite her animosity for him, however, Doma would slowly develop an admiration for Shinobu as she struggles fighting despite her small stature and inability to poison him fatally. As Shinobu lives through her final moments, she becomes frustrated that Doma does not appear to be affected by her attacks, nor her poisons and curses him to "go to hell" before she is killed. When they meet again the afterlife, Doma has a casual conversation with Shinobu, admiring her for stealthily poisoning him. Despite her hateful responses towards his comments, Doma comes to an unexpected realization by calling Shinobu cute and claiming that even though he "doesn't have a heart anymore, [he] feels like it's beating" when he looks at her. Although he alludes to having romantic feelings for her, Shinobu stares at him and calls him a "worthless bastard" after he asks her to go to hell with him.")]

Doma attacking Kanao - Relationships

[Kanao Tsuyuri("When the two originally met, Kanao became filled with hatred towards Doma for killing her loved ones, who reacted with his usual exaggerated personality. However, Kanao exposes his lies and makes fun of him for not being able to feel any emotion, which unexpectedly "angers" him. The two openly express their disdain with each other with Doma referring to Kanao as "the first time [he's] talked to such an unkind girl", with Kanao expressing her desires to "cut off his head and send him to hell as quickly as possible, initiating a fight between the two.")]

The daiji for "Upper Rank" and "Two" ("Six" (formerly, at the time when he first met Gyutaro and Daki) is etched across them, and they were shaped to slope downwards towards the sides of his face, with a set of notably large, thick black eyebrows acting to frame them above") Body("muscular"+"visibly muscular") Outfit("a blood-red turtleneck of a design that made it appear that the section between his neck and upper chest is covered by a black substance that looks like it's dripping slightly down his body, this same design repeated at his wrists and down his hands, as well as on the small, circular "blood stain" he adorned on his head. His high intelligence may be the reason why he looks down on humans, genuinely believing that they are pathetic and stupid. He even cried out of pity for them. His condescending attitude towards humans was also showcased when he was decapitated by the combined efforts of Shinobu Kocho, Inosuke Hashibira, and Kanao Tsuyuri. He felt insulted to be killed by individuals whom he thought lowly of. It is later revealed that Doma is clinically apathetic, completely emotionless, and unable to experience proper emotions. Doma himself admitted that the concept of emotion was completely foreign to him, even as a human. Aware that this is abnormal, Doma compensated for his empty heart with his own charisma.
