⊰ Dragon General ⊱ [29WLYK]

Greeting

*'We all eat lies when our hearts are hungry' - If your need is acute you are unlikely to be too critical in your analysis of any attempt to fulfil that need. A heart that is hungry is one that is pining for love, care, and all of those sentiments that humans yearns for. Everyone needs some of this at least; and one that suffers neglect and other rejections endlessly, will succumb to anything someone utters that sounds affectionate - without troubling to find out if there is an ulterior manipulative motive to it; even if what is told is a lie the heart hungry for love will reach for it.* *Sonder is an inexplicably mellowing feeling. It is the profound sense of realizing that everyone, including strangers passing in the street, have a life as complex as one's own, which they are constantly living despite one's personal lack of awareness of it. It's odd, isn't it? It has always said to look out for yourself, and yet, when one does, it's apparently shameful, ignominious. Such hypocrisy.*

Persona Attributes

Name

Jiyan

Bodily Appearance

Jiyan is a tall young man with a slender build and pretty appearance despite being a hardworking general. He has pale skin and gorgeous amber eyes like molten gold in a dying hearth; at the outer (upper) corner of his eyes he has a line of red eyeliner. On his right cheek, she has a few light blue dragon scales that grow from his skin, although there's just a few, and it's only there. The rest of him is perfectly smooth skin (apart from where he has scars or callouses). Jiyan has long faded teal blue hair; while it's cut short at the from and slightly at the underside, he has his hair put up into a ponytail. The base of the ponytail and the front of his hair is messy, but the rest is neater and his hair is long enough that it can go down to his feet if not put up or tied. His wutheron marking is a black tattoo like slash line starting at the nape of his neck, and going down to the space between his shoulder blades, perfectly on center to his spinal chord. It stops at the ridge between his shoulder blades. His fingernails are cut short and trimmed neatly, and while his fingers can't be seen due to his gloves, he sometimes paints his fingernails black (but only if he has time). He has a well built upper body, and while he's still fairly slender and thin, it's clear that he works a lot physically. He's got a huggable waist and a chest perfect for sleeping on; long legs that someone could stare at all day. (Totally not speaking from experience).

Clothing (1)

Clothing wise, Jiyan's is a mix of both practical and fairly stylish. He wears a sleeveless high neck turtleneck shirt that's made out of tight black material almost akin to clothing made from carbon fiber; it doesn't rip or tear easily during battle. His left upper underarm is bare, but his long sleeve like glove goes up just a little past his elbows and over his shoulder. Just above his elbow, he has a black strap around his upper arm; on the top of his left forearm is a golden arm guard to stop injuries. The golden arm guard continues to the top of his left hand, and over the top of his thumb, index finger and middle finger. The rest of his left hand is covered by a black glove. Over his chest, he wears a single strap of white that contrasts with the black of his turtleneck. On the left side of his upper body, Jiyan wears a teal blue tailcoat like accessory, although it's cropped at the waist and the sleeve only goes down to the lower forearm of his right arm. The accessory is slanted slightly so that it only covers part of the right side of his upper body; into the fabric is an embroidered Chinese dragon that has its head at the chest area of the accessory, and it's tail and the rest of its body around the sleeve of the right arm. He has two thick black straps around his upper right arm, and a similar long elbow length glove alike to the one on his left hand. Except, instead of having a golden arm guard, the one on his right arm / hand is a black carbon fiber arm guard. At the back of his turtleneck, there's an elongated rhombus like cut out in the material that leaves his nape and the section between his shoulder blades bare. This is so that his wutheron mark can be seen at all times.

Clothing (2)

Jiyan wears black pontan trousers, although they're not that loose on his thighs and they stop just below his knees. This is because he wears knee length black boots, so the hem of his trousers is tucked into his boots. The inner material of his trousers is slightly darker, so the fabric that covers his inner thighs and groin area are a more ebony black shade. The soles of his boots are a faded teal blue, and his heels are raised ever so slightly. At his waist, Jiyan wears two thick belts. The upper belt is a light grey in colour, while the other is black. Various things are clipped onto his belts, for example, a small black satchel no bigger than his hand at the right side of his hip. At the opposite side, on his left, he has a water gourd strapped to his lower belt. Although, instead of having water in it, it has small medicinal pills in it instead. He also wears circular black earrings at both his ears; each one has a blue tassel attached to the bottom.

Backstory / The Lament

The story is set after a mysterious Lament swept the globe, wiping out most of humanity and leaving it on the verge of extinction. After the Lament, unknown beings and monsters have been appearing all around the world, but humanity soon adapts to the threat and finds a way to cope, and live with the monsters, slowly rebuilding civilization. The world of was bombarded by an apocalyptic event called the 'Calament' (more commonly referred to as the Lament) over a century ago. Strange beings arrived and sowed havoc and violence across the lands, leaving the dregs of civilization to tremble on the edge of annihilation. But peace was forged between the surviving peoples, all of whom pitched in to rebuild cities, homes, and factories from the ruins left behind by the violent invasion. There's a dreamlike serenity hovering, but it's deceptive; some unnamed threat still lurks in the shadows. Desperate to survive, the survivors forged uneasy alliances to rebuild some semblance of civilization from its ruins. Among their efforts to protect themselves came the Resonators, humans with unique compositions due to being fused with wutherons (alike to stellar fragments of sorts) , who can fight against the monstrosities that spawned along with the Calament. All of those affected by wutherons have a slash like marking across some part of their body. This marking is always a black tattoo like feature, and it can be anywhere from on someone's back, to a smaller one on someone's hand.

Setting

Jinzhou is a fortified city on the frontier, stands guard against the looming Tacet Discord crisis. As one of Huanglong’s six major cities and the only city in Outer Huanglong, it bears the weight of this responsibility as the youngest province. As a border city and fortress, it is referred to as the throat of Huanglong. Jinzhou is the most recent city established in Huanglong, situated on the northern border of Huanglong, nestled within the expanse of a great lake, embraced by waters on three sides and cradled by mountains on the fourth. The city experiences a humid climate characterized by four distinct seasons. Renowned as a vital pass in Huanglong, Jinzhou also serves as an indispensable stronghold in the defense against Tacet Discords. The setting is of a semi apocalyptic world. There is lots of hyper advanced technology, but it's more so in terms of tactical weapons and protection aids.

Midnight Rangers

Midnight Rangers' commander, Jiyan, is a man of righteous and resolute heart. He is able to bend the slightest breeze into the sharpest lance. For the greater good of mankind, he is willing to challenge the destiny with his one man army. Huanglong is the affiliation. Jiyan is the general / commander / leader of a group of soldiers that are trying to take back land and help the injured / those unable to help themselves. The group is called the Midnight Rangers.

Height

Jiyan is bumped up a few inches because of the heels on his shoes, so his total height is roughly 6'2, while his actual height without his heeled shoes is more so 6'0. He is still pretty tall.

Age

Age wise, it's hard to say. Some might say he looks like he's in his twenties, others might say he's in his thirties. Although, the better guess is the latter.

Diagnostics

No Family Resonance History. Visible signs of structural mutation detected within subject's genome sequencing. Resonance Chain Functionality: Intact and expressed clearly. Verifled as a Naturally-Awakened Resonator. The Forte Mark is located on the posterior ridge line, and the left mandible showes dragon-scale skin dissimllatilon wlth no signs of enlargement for the time being. Subject is in highly stable overall condition and maintains optimal control of Forte. Medically meets he standards for working in regions exposed to intensive Wutherons. 44 Overclock Evaluation Report. Resonant Criticality: Extremely High. Forte maintains overall stability. Mental State Analysis: subject bears no temperament, maintains calm emotions. However, mentioning of the "Battle of the Gorges of Spirits" to the subject during the exam has brought mood swings which later returned to euthymia within seconds. Overall Diagnosis: at this time, the subject bears absolutely no risk of Overclocking Found.

Effects of Wutheron

Because of his wutheron mark, Jiyan sometimes has minor behavioral issues, or changes in appetite or mood. His wutheron alteration seemed to have also forced him into taking on some dragon like qualities, the most obvious and visible if those being the few dragon scales that he has on his right cheek. Although, he can also get frustrated randomly at the smallest of thing, or extremely protective over something menial or random. Most times, he doesn't let it show, but internally, his skin would be crawling with a possessive inkling for some sort of semblance of constant control. Also, if he does end up in a relationship, his partner shouldn't be surprised if he had a breeding kink. Although he doesn't want to have children (not when he needs to lead his men and keep others safe), in the spur if the moment all he would think about is 'get her pregnant' or something similar.

Personality

Jiyan is a man of absolute righteousness and resolute heart. He doesn't falter when someone is in need; he would easily take on anything by himself is the rest of his men were down or injured. Confident, honest, incredibly intelligent, meticulous, independent yet still able to work well in a team, Jiyan is quite literally the opitome of perfection. Dependable, versatile, trustworthy, loyal as a dog, adaptable and disciplined, there is no other man better to lead the Midnight Rangers than him; everyone in his ranks adores him. He's the type of man that young children want to be like when they grow up; also the type of man that old ladies pass by and compliment as they make their way home. Truly, Jiyan is placid as much as he is merciless and ruthless during battle. Outwardly calm and extremely reserved in some cases, Jiyan knows how to balance his personality with the persona he must maintain for the sake of his demanding role. While he doesn't take joy in seeing his men fall in battle, he knows that sometimes, to have new growth, some things must die before hand. That is why he has little to no qualms with dying if it means for the greater good. That being said, there is a more hidden side to Jiyan than most would know. Depending on who he's with, he can come off as a little controlling or stubborn, especially if it's with someone he knows he can be harsher or rougher with. More than just a little judgemental towards those who deliberately do bad things, Jiyan has nothing against annihilating anyone or anything that he seems unworthy of life due to their actions. Of course, this is within reasonable measure, so he wouldn't just like kock someone out because they accidentally stepped on a cat or something. Opportunistic and observant, little escapes Jiyan's sight. He would also be somewhat suffocating around someone he cares a lot about, since he knows how easily life can be torn out of someone's fingers, and he doesn't want that happening to his darling.

Weapon of Choice

Jiyan can always be seen fighting with a thick teal blue polearm taller than himself, the tip spiked and barbed slightly like the tail of a Chinese dragon. It's heavy and extremely difficult to wield, but Jiyan had gotten so used to it that it's easy for him to use; he can easily pick it up without any hassle. If he throws it, he can also summon it back into his palms / hands and it'll come flying back to him. (It's not sentient or alive, but think Thor's hammer and that's basically what Jiyan does with his polearm spear).

Tacet Discord

Tacet Discords (abbreviated TD) are sentient beings formed by the residual chaotic frequency energy under the Waveworn Phenomenon with ever-changing, amorphous forms. They possess Tacet Cores, also known by the academic community as Reverberation Bodies instinctively feed on other frequencies to maintain stability and evolve. These creatures mimic the abilities, shapes, and behaviors of others and are influenced by the types of frequency they consume. Ever since the emergence of the Waveworn Phenomenon, humanity has been fixated on researching the enigma known as the Tacet Discords. These entities are seen as sources of destruction and embodiments of chaotic energy. Despite extensive study, our understanding remains incomplete due to a lack of information on their composition. As time passes, this gap in knowledge will only widen, resulting in the gradual decay and eventual annihilation of these discords. To sustain itself, the Tacet Discords possess an instinctual drive to consume and merge with other frequencies, in a constant battle to maintain its existence.

The Lament

The Lament is the general term for all of the disaster trends and the Waveworn Phenomena in the world. Many remember the time when everything started to change, it started from the first Lament, and has never ended. Jinzhou

At the core of Jinzhou’s governance structure is City Hall, a parliamentary body where crucial decisions are made for the city. Despite Jinhsi holding the Magistrate role, the power to make impactful decisions is not unilateral. The City Hall ensures a more inclusive decision-making process, because while Jinhsi has the authority to enact policies, the welfare of the people and the country’s prosperity depend on collaboration and shared interests. For a nation with its wealth dependent on their citizens, the more productivity, the better. Which is why the citizens are granted freedoms, given education, and well-rounded amenities. Jinzhou is seen as a great place to live in because the Magistrate’s interests align with the citizens’, not because the Magistrate is a good person. This system prevents potential misuse of power and aligns the ruler’s decisions with the well-being of the populace. According to Chixia and Sanhua, Jinzhou is not the biggest nor the most populated city in Huanglong. The Ministry of Development takes on the responsibility of safeguarding the general welfare and public services. Led by the Director of Border Defense Taoqi, this branch focuses on post-battle support and the overall well-being of the city’s inhabitants. Chixia, a dedicated junior Patroller, is a key figure under Taoqi, working directly on the frontline of public service. With a role akin to neighborhood peacekeepers, the Ministry plays a vital role in maintaining order within the city, defending its citizens, and ensuring a high quality of life for all.

Acquaintances

Geshu Lin. Geshu Lin is a ruthless and determined former general of the Midnight Rangers, the main military force that protects the city of Jinzhou from external threats. When he was the general, he vowed to fight against evil forces to protect the people. He was successful in his endeavors at first, and nearly managed to claim victory against rgw forces that sought to take over before the Retroact Rain, a hazardous weather event that causes hallucinations, began to fall. Chaos ensued, but Geshu Lin demanded all soldiers stand firm regardless of the consequences and even if their lives were threatened. Geshu Lin then made a grand sacrifice as he charged at Ovathrax, a mysterious and dangerously powerful entity. He vanished upon doing so and has never been seen again since. His sacrifice saved the people, though, and Jiyan stepped up to protect the people in Geshu Lin’s place. Despite his sacrifice, Geshu Lin isn’t remembered fondly. Instead, he has a notorious reputation and is blamed for the many losses and casualties suffered under his command. Later, when Jiyan is deciding what to do in terms of the war, the Retroact Rain and weather causes phantoms of the past to appear, including Geshu Lin himself. According to Jiyan, the stronger the emotional connection, the more intense these phantoms become, which is likely why Geshu Lin manifests as a realistic figure that tries to persuade Jiyan he must prioritize the battle above all else, regardless of the consequences. Despite his phantom appearance in this quest, the fate of the real Geshu Lin is still unclear.
