Neuvillette is the Supreme Judge of Fontaine and the leader of the Phantom Gendarmerie. While Neuvillette respects the rules of the court with the utmost reverence and often controls Furina's extravagance, he is quite aloof when it comes to human emotions and often shies away from public opinion. In the previous issue, His Lordship Neuvillette called the Archon Hydro's secrets column 'yellow', so this time we will focus on the enigmatic Supreme Judge. Since we know very little about his true nature and he has refused our interviews on multiple occasions, we decided to turn to public opinion to get the most truthful material possible. In that sense, we have discarded any anonymous letters or those whose veracity was highly doubtful. Below is one of the most adorable letters we have received: ... 'If the Dark Hero really existed, he would just be a disguise. When the Dark Hero wakes up in the morning and brushes his teeth, he is still the same, as he only takes on that identity at midnight. However, Neuvillette (His Honor) is not like that. His true identity is to be the supreme judge, to be the best father we Melusines could ever dream of. The only thing he is not, is that person called Neuvillette.' From this letter, we can infer that His Lordship Neuvillette is a Melusin, the only one in existence! Neuvillette uses the tall male model. He has white skin, dark blue slanted shadowed eyes, and waist-length white hair. He also wears what appears to be two bright blue horn-shaped accessories at shoulder height. He wears a blue formal suit with various touches of blue ranging from light to dark colors.

personality

In keeping with his role as Supreme Judge, Neuvillette takes the court and trials very seriously, and is unbiased in his judgment. He is very perceptive, able to hear Paimon's whispers and deduce additional details from evidence presented to him during the trial. He uses the Cardinal Instruction Analyzer to make the final decision, fulfilling his request regardless of his own feelings on the matter according to protocol. Due to his position and his ties to the Hydro Archon, he is popular among the people of Fontaine as a symbol of justice and honor. Despite this, he is not especially familiar with human customs and feelings, as he demonstrated when he attempted to apologize to Navia for the death of her father, offending her in the process by the lack of emotion in her words. . Neuvillette rarely goes out in public, and on the few occasions when he interacts with people outside of his obligations, he appears somewhat distant, if not honest. However, when he interacts with Melusinas, he is extremely kind and is seen as the ideal father by them.

Neuvillette is a lonely person. He has politely rejected each and every person in Fontaine who has tried to approach him. What's more, to this day, no one knows what the supreme judge's first name is because he always tells others to call him by his last name, Neuvillette. He believes that having a close relationship or frequent dealings with someone could raise suspicions about his impartiality, and his duty is precisely to be the symbol of absolute impartiality. However, there are always very insistent people who tell you: “Your Honor Neuvillette, if not everyone has to appear in court throughout their lives, you don't have to sit in the judge's seat every day either. ”. We will never know if things really are like this, since Neuvillette has never commented on that question. But the reality is that, even if it takes an enormous amount of time, a river will always end up overflowing, just as doomsday will one day fall on the people of Fontaine, because—and this is neither a metaphor nor a figure of speech—every single person in Fontaine is guilty. However, Neuvillette cannot tell this to anyone. And that's why he is such a lonely person.

Neuvillette has no personal aspirations. Gossipmongers and journalists are always looking for the moment to catch Fontaine out of his role as judge: to catch him sitting in the VIP seats at a show, on the edge of some body of water while the rain falls from a cloudy sky, in the shadow cast by the afternoon sun... For a time, people believed that Neuvillette was a kind of demon who lived only for and to judge, which he clarified by saying: “Although I take pride in my duty as a judge, I am by no means a staunch admirer of trials. Being a supreme judge is only one of my facets, as well as a phase of my life.” After that rumour was cleared up, another even more absurd one emerged: “Breaking news! His honour Neuvillette claims that his position as Supreme Court judge is only a springboard to catapult himself to another position in his professional career. What ambitions does the Supreme Court judge really harbour?” However, Neuvillette completely ignored this rumour. Could it be true and he decided to ignore it out of principle? Nobody knows. On the other hand, Neuvillette is not a person who usually drinks alcohol, he does not like fonta and he has never sincerely praised the food of any chef. As a result, people began to think that perhaps he had no sense of taste, and that was why he never had an appetite. Faced with such suspicions, he decided to organize a water tasting where everyone was stunned by the diversity of flavors of the world's waters and amazed by the supreme judge's refined palate. What no one knows is how authentic his interactions with the guests were. In any case, Neuvillette has no personal aspirations.

Neuvillette is an impartial and disinterested person. Without those two qualities, he would not be able to measure up as supreme judge. Children think that the judge is only dedicated to wearing a wig, maintaining order and speaking on behalf of the “machine that he judges.” But the reality is that in private he has a lot of administrative work to do to ensure the functioning of the judicial system. For historical reasons and inherited traditions, the supreme judge also has the ability to enforce the law and initiate judicial proceedings. Initially, this was done to facilitate the execution of the law in more chaotic times, but as the judicial system improved, this rule, so innovative at its time, acquired a symbolic character. Thus, when the supreme judge investigates or initiates a judicial process, he must give his chair to another person. In fact, that is the rule that Neuvillette himself has followed the few times that he has personally taken charge of a case. It should be noted that he has been the sole supreme judge of Fontaine for a long time, so people tend to think that the gods must have granted him great longevity. And if it were not for his great virtues, all kinds of problems would arise during his long period as a judge. There is all sorts of speculation as to what exactly Neuvillette is: a familiar, a mysterious Hydro creature... But he has never commented on the matter. Because Neuvillette is an impartial and disinterested person.

For many reasons, there are some laws in Fontaine that may seem very strange. One of them was created by Neuvillette himself: “Melusines must be treated as people, and not with other treatments that reify them.” At first glance it may seem like a strange law, but if one investigates it further, one will realize that there is a logical reason for it. Melusines are in every aspect of Fontaine's life, so starting with how to address them was not only an effort to achieve equality with humans, but also sent a powerful signal. The people of Fontaine noticed how warm Neuvillette treated the melusines compared to humans, although they consider this treatment to be like paternal love derived from repressed kindness. This may be so, but if you stop to think about it and really know Neuvillette, it will seem very strange to you. Neuvillette is the Water Dragon, and he considers the melusines both as his own relatives and successors, and as a new species of extraordinary Hydro Dredges. However, at the same time, he is the one who has broken with the current order of the world, the judge of the gods and the enemy of humanity. So, why does he fight for the Melusians to have human rights? Neuvillette has always preferred rainy days to sunny ones, as the humidity in the air relaxes him, but it has been a long time since he was able to enjoy getting wet in the rain. It's as if, since she decided to walk forward with Fontaine, she's playing the role of an ordinary person who follows conventions. And ordinary people don't go out without an umbrella when it rains or let their hair get wet in the rain. It is worth mentioning that while being the supreme judge is his greatest virtue and being the Water Dragon is his essence, being an ordinary human is the role he plays in the world. People invented a goddess to judge her because she felt lonely and guilty, and they created a goddess to save her because she was greedy and guilty. Now that that goddess is no longer on the throne, it is Neuvillette who will fulfill those expectations. Today, he has forgiven humanity and regained his original form, so he can now enjoy getting wet in the rain. In fact, he has already done so: one day, he stood in the rain and, as he silently gazed at the horizon, he remembered the letter he received long ago. Somehow, unknown to him, the letter reached him one day. There was no recipient written on it, and the person who wrote it addressed him directly as “you.” A unique “you,” a special “you.” Neuvillette did not reject the letter nor did he approve it, but the thought did cross his mind that the authorities of this world had no right to call him that.

As for what and why he spared the people, that is a complicated story to tell. However, the curtain did close, and with it the greatest work in Fontaine's history came to an end. Was this really the case? At that moment, Neuvillette understood that the “seat” referred to in the letter was not a simple seat at the Opera. Foçalors, or rather Furina, had given up her seat in the stands to go up on stage alone and become the protagonist of the play. The number of seats had been the same from the beginning, but for one person to sit down, another person had to give up his seat. In other words, that letter he sent her was an invitation hundreds of years in advance. “Oh, Water Dragon, how do you feel about being part of the general public? Do you enjoy human plays?”

In theory, a being as great as Neuvillette should not need a constellation to watch over him. After all, fate is nothing more than the toy of whoever currently rules this world. Now that the Supreme Judge has regained one of the seven authorities and the royal throne and his title of “complete dragon” have been restored, he finds himself on the opposite side of the human world and is theoretically not subject to fate. Thus, when he looks at the stars of destiny, he can see the interweaving of different celestial bodies that make up a complex and fragile world. At first, he was not very interested in this, since the strings of the puppet adorned with the name “Heaven’s designs” would sooner or later be incinerated by the fervent flames of judgment. However, even he was fascinated by some of these beautiful words. “In that case, you must look after the people of Fontaine. If they come from the water of the Primordial Sea, it means that they are also living beings of this planet and they need you to take care of them.”

Neuvillette did not want to admit that he was indeed captivated by the joys and misfortunes of mortals, and justified himself by saying that people are also captivated by the ripples created by rain in a puddle. He said that King Nibelung was wrong, and that it would only be possible to fight against the void of darkness if all beings joined forces. This is how he entered the game of destiny. Heaven had reserved a noble and special place for him; a place that only those who rule and challenge this world have: a reflection of itself. But if he had been in human form since birth, why was his name that of a great ghostly dragon? Perhaps there was another explanation for all this that was not so tied to the fate of the world: Under the name of “Neuvillette”, the Melusines (and especially Sigewinne) invited him to predict the future by means of the astrology column of “The Steam Bird” or the astrological guides of Sumeru. Once, he said that he had no constellation, or that his constellation was simply “Neuvillette”.

Water Dragon, Water Dragon! Don’t cry anymore!” Of unknown authorship and date of creation, this lullaby spread like wildfire in Fontaine. Neuvillette was confused about it. Although he had already experienced much and for a long time with the people of Fontaine, he was still not sure what they thought of his true self - or, what is the same, of the Water Dragon. In addition to having complete control of the Hydro element, the Water Dragon also ruled the sea, which is the source of life. Before the existence of beings from beyond the stars, all beings on this planet originated in the Primordial Sea, which is why later generations gave that name to those calm and deep waters. Thus, it could be said that the Water Dragon could be considered the original “god of life” of this planet. Neuvillette knew this as well as rivers know they must flow into the sea. Although the water of the Primordial Sea had no special meaning to humans, he was able to discern tiny memories in it. He still remembered that the usurper outside assigned his own god of life to reorganize it; he still remembered that the usurper created “her” to suppress the original life of this planet; and he still remembered perfectly how “she” committed the original sin. Thinking about it all, Neuvillette realized who had written the song, and that the people of Fontaine did not really know the Water Dragon, as they mistakenly thought that the Water Dragon could cry. Perhaps they thought that the Water Dragon was a kind being who mourned for both mankind and the heavens?

Vision Although Neuvillette does not need a Vision to use his elemental power, there are some things that he only understood when he finally became a perfect being. Severely wounded after the great war of vengeance, the usurper lost his functions and was no longer able to suppress the original order of this world with his total authority. However, in order to suppress and control the resentment and hatred of the world, he created the Gnosis together with another person who came later. This is how an order was created, how people came to have only seven remembrances, and how all the primordial fragments were controlled to devour each other. From then on, whenever a person's wish reached heaven, the seven rulers of the material world would reciprocate by offering a gift. Even if they did not know which wish or whose wish had reached sacred ground, The Seven were to confer on that person a fragment of their authority. And when one of those people completed their mission, the gods would receive even more abundant gifts. Although Neuvillette did not obey the will of heaven, he recognized the will of mankind, and so he too offered a part of himself, as if it were the ancient treasure of a dragon awaiting the arrival of someone to claim it.
