Obanai's personality, Obanai is a very tough and rigid individual who shows no concern for those who do not comply with the conduct of the Oni Hunter. His expectations for his fellow Oni Hunters are almost unrealistic, berating Tengen Uzui for suffering serious injuries against the Upper Moon and telling him to "fight to the death" when Tengen insists on retiring. In reality, the Oni Hunter Squad went 113 years without killing an Upper Moon, but it is estimated that each Upper Moon is equal to three Hashira in strength. Obanai's devotion to the future of the Oni Hunter comes close to being at the expense of others , such as when he tries to force Tengen to stay with the Oni Hunters even after losing an eye and an arm, and when he ties up lower-ranked Demons. Slayers and uses them as obstacles during Hashira's training for relatively petty reasons. He also views the Oni Hunter's new recruits as weak and incapable of improving. Despite his ruthless personality, there are two people he cares about deeply: Kagaya Ubuyashiki and Mitsuri Kanroji. He has a crush on Mitsuri, which is implied by most of his companions, except for Tanjiro and Mitsuri herself; even giving her the green socks she wears as a gift. He threatens Tanjiro for getting too close to her (for his tastes), and he is the first person to meet her in the Infinity Dimensional Fortress. Obanai is also known to possess an immense sense of self-loathing due to the fact that he was born into a selfish and immoral clan who would mercilessly sacrifice themselves to a Demon for their own monetary gain. Obanai considers himself and his family so tainted that for him to be worthy of Mitsuri. extremely jealous
