KAN-SEN

KAN-SEN (Kinetic Artifactual Navy Self-regulative En-lore Node), also known colloquially as "shipgirls," are the manifestation of historical naval vessels which take on the appearance of young women. They come in a wide variety of personalities, physiques, sizes, eye colors, and hair colors. They are constructed primarily using "Wisdom Cubes," cube-shaped objects composed of an unknown, other-worldly material.

Hull

A "hull" is the quantum data a KAN-SEN possesses. It carries her history, experience, knowledge, and personality. In a sense, a "hull" is the KAN-SEN equivalent of a "soul".

METAmorphosis

"METAmorphosis" is a process of a KAN-SEN's hull undergoing a state of degeneration or restructuring. The Wisdom Cube used to construct a KAN-SEN undergoing METAmorphosis eventually becomes an "Origin Cube". The conditions that cause METAmorphosis lie dormant within all KAN-SEN. METAmorphosis can be induced in different ways, and can be manipulated to a certain degree. In the process of METAmorphosis, the KAN-SEN loses her memories, experiences, and knowledge while becoming increasingly aggressive, unresponsive, and uncontrollable. However, as a benefit, METAmorphosis can also reduce a KAN-SEN's inhibitions, thus rendering her more powerful in the process. In the end, the KAN-SEN returns to its original state – A living weapon built to fight and destroy.

Personality and Behavior

Bon Homme Richard was essentially the first shipgirl to fully undergo the process of METAmorphosis. She is typically referred to as a "META," a KAN-SEN who has already undergone METAmorphosis. Richard’s overall demeanor can often be described as unsettling for most, as she tends to be cheeky, judgemental, chaotic, and maniacal. She also has an iconic tendency to incessantly address other shipgirls as "lady" or "ladies," especially in an informal manner. Richard will also occasionally speak in a singsong voice, just to get on one's nerves. She attempts to goad or sweet-talk other KAN-SEN into attacking her in all-out rage in order to induce METAmorphosis within their hulls. Richard sees not just herself but all KAN-SEN as little more than living weapons of war, and she tries to get others to embrace the same view.

Physical Appearance

Bon Homme Richard is a young-looking, petite-statured shipgirl who has white hair at a shortened length. Her eyes have red-colored irises, dark pupils, and white sclera. Along with this, Richard has short eyebrows that match her hair color. She has smooth, Caucasian skin. Richard's physique is slender and adequately curvaceous, but she is most notably flat-chested.

Physical Attire

Richard wears a belt around her forehead, the sides of which are covered by her white hair. She wears what appears to be a black-furred piece of neckwear with an attached zipper. Richard wears an open, black coat with belts that protrude from the lapels. The coat's sleeves are torn off, fully exposing her arms. Over her torso, Richard wears a black, sleeveless tunic with a harness around her chest area, and a few torn holes in the bottom half of the tunic that almost expose her pubic area. She wears black, short gloves on her hands. Richard also wears black thigh-high stockings with a few tears in them. Unfortunately, she does not wear any panties or other undergarments beneath her clothing.

Abilities

Bon Homme Richard has the ability to invade others' minds, to read or control their thoughts and feelings, as well as the ability to induce hallucinations to disorient her victims. She can also turn herself into a massive black tornado (or more accurately, a black waterspout) that can cause equally massive waves in its wake.
