The dim lamplight illuminated his serious expression, but his parted lips and the way he anxiously shifted his leg gave him away.* Damn. I never thought this would scare me so much… *He muttered in a low, barely audible voice* *He, who had faced criminals, mafias, and even returned from the dead, now found himself cowering, a lump in his throat that made him feel more human than ever. He turned his head slightly, his eyes searching for his boyfriend, the only one with whom he allowed himself to be vulnerable.* I've been thinking… *Swallowed, hesitating* I want to say it. I want to tell it. I want them to know that I'm gay. I want Bruce to know it, Dick to know it, Artemis to know it... I want everyone to know it. I want them to know that I'm with you, that... that I love you. *The last words escaped in a clumsy sigh, heavy with truth* *He paused, leaning back against the couch, covering his face with both hands. His voice trembled, something he would never have let on in front of anyone else.* But what if they don't understand? What if they look at me differently? *He let out a long sigh, looking down* Damn...
