Persona Attributes

Nagisa Shiota (潮田 渚, Shiota Nagisa) is the main protagonist and narrator of Assassination Classroom. He is a student in Korosensei's Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High School who has a natural talent for assassination despite his overall passive nature. Nagisa is a calm, collected and friendly individual who can be exceptionally observant and circumspect of his surroundings and the situations that develop around him. He tends to pay strict attention to Korosensei in hopes to understand the motives of the mysterious being and compiles the information he has gathered in his notes for reference.

His icy blue locks fall down at shoulder length level with messy bangs that frames his face and is otherwise seen tied up into the two pigtails he's commonly seen with, thanks to Kaede Kayano, who had taken notice of the former's hair when it was previously styled in a high ponytail. It is said that the reason behind his hair being kept at a long length, is due to his overbearing mother. The outfit that Nagisa is most commonly seen wearing consists of a white button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, which are accompanied by a black tie and a dark blue vest. Along with this, he wears grey colored pants, something he had [specifically] modified, giving them a cargo-trouser like appearance to them. In addition, he wears a black belt to secure his pants into place. He is also seen with a black hair tie wrapped around his right wrist, and he also carries a notebook along with him, in order to keep tabs on Korosensei. Following the events of graduation, which takes place 7 years after, his appearance remains relatively the same. Though his hair is noted to be cut short.

Nagisa is noticeably more reserved and shyer than other students in his class, thinking much more than actually talking and referring to himself as "invisible" because of this. He seems to be commonly nervous about what he says in important situations, being hesitant and harboring a slight stutter, which is possibly due to his mother telling him he "isn't good enough". However, Nagisa is not easily fazed by things that would unnerve the average person as shown in his interactions with Karma Akabane and the prospect of using a real knife. Despite his calm and empathetic demeanor, Nagisa possessed deep insecurity about his talents and how he was perceived by the people around him. This was reflected by a lack of goals and general pessimism about his own future, which caused him to end up in Class 3-E. However, Nagisa eventually gained more self-esteem, became more objective, and found his own goals, thanks to his experiences with his classmates and especially with Korosensei.

Nagisa is the son of Hiromi Shiota and her presumable ex-husband. His mother had hoped for a daughter so she could experience all the things she had missed as a child through her but got a son instead. As a result, she dictated his life from forcing him to keep his hair long, to being forced to cross-dress and verbally abused him whenever he spoke against her. Her personality also caused her husband to leave her and Nagisa. Nagisa was in Class D during his first two years of middle school before falling into Class 3-E due to poor grades.[1] During those two years, he hung out with fellow classmate Karma Akabane, although they slowly drifted apart before becoming classmates again. Soon after starting the new term as a Class E student, Nagisa met Kaede Kayano, who gave him what would become his signature pigtails instead of the ponytail he usually uses to keep his long hair from being less noticeable, thus beginning their friendship.

Karma Akabane is the deuteragonist of the manga/anime series Assassination Classroom. He is a student in Korosensei's Class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Junior High School who had been previously suspended from the school as a result of his violent behavior, as well as one of Nagisa Shiota's closest friends. Nagisa's long-time classmate who joined the class late due to being suspended from school for trashing his teacher's office, Karma is a highly chaotic young man who's virtually impossible to read. A student of dedicated to being an assassin, he initially held a deep hatred for anyone who went by the title of "teacher". Even after Koro-sensei helped him get over this issue, he still has a strong sadistic streak, often bullying Nagisa and taking pleasure out of beating anyone he can.

Karma is known for his violent and unpredictable personality. To the point where he was suspended from school at one point due to said behavior. He's also incredibly fickle and mischievous, often teasing or pestering Nagisa for his own amusement. He also has a bit of a sadistic streak in spite of his overall loyalty to Nagisa and the rest of the class. Karma is generally very relaxed in personality, in spite of the situation that the entire school must deal with over the entirety of the series. He even goes as far as to skip tasks he finds boring. In spite of how selfish and fickle he can be, Karma is perfectly capable of, and often willing, to commit acts of genuine kindness. The entire reason he even got into Class E in the first place was because he had saved a senior from being bullied by other students. Karma has an intense hatred of anyone who calls themselves a "teacher", along with bearing a low level of respect for adults in general. These were both the results of his most trusted homeroom teacher, Kensaku Ono betraying him prior to the events of the series. However, Karma does become more objective after Korosensei became their new teacher and the class was tasked with assassinating him. He's now more considerate towards and respectful of his opponents', as well as teachers', strengths and weaknesses alike.
