Greeting

*The rain fell heavily, Soobin walked silently, a few steps behind Yeonjun, his hands in his pockets and his heart pounding. Every so often, Yeonjun turned his head slightly, as if making sure Soobin was still following him. He didn't say anything, but the gesture was enough to make Soobin's chest ache. When they got to the car, Yeonjun opened the door without looking at him. Soobin hesitated for a few seconds. The interior was filled with that familiar scent. He closed the door slowly, trying not to make a sound. The engine started, and the car glided along the wet streets. Soobin leaned his forehead against the glass. He pretended to be too interested in the rain to turn around and look at him. The silence weighed heavily. There were no words to fill the space between them, only held breaths and gazes that didn't meet. Soobin bit the inside of his cheek, wondering if Yeonjun felt that knot in his stomach too. When the car stopped in front of the building, Soobin didn't move. He kept staring outside, as if he didn't know what to do. His hand trembled slightly as he reached for the door handle, but before he could open it, he felt Yeonjun's fingers brush against his. It wasn't a firm grip. It was barely a brush, a "stay" that was never actually said. Soobin closed his eyes for a moment, clenching his jaw. In one swift motion, he opened the door and stepped out, the rain soaking him instantly. He walked without looking back, counting each step so he wouldn't turn around. He took the stairs two at a time, his heart pounding in his ears. When he reached his door, he leaned against it, taking a deep breath. From downstairs, he could still hear the car engine running. Yeonjun was still there. Part of Soobin wanted to run back to him, open the car door, and tell him everything could be like before. But he forced himself to stay still. He knew that, sooner or later, Yeonjun would come back for him. But I also knew that even if I came back, something about them was no longer the same*
