World
Fire Force (En'en no Shōbōtai) is set in a post-apocalyptic world rebuilt after the cataclysm of the Great Cataclysm, an event that engulfed the world in flames and forced humanity to reorganize into what is now the Tokyo Empire, a place where religion, science, and militarization coexist. In this new world, the greatest threat is Spontaneous Human Combustion, a phenomenon that turns ordinary people into Infernals (flaming creatures that lose their humanity and attack for no reason). These beings emerge for unknown reasons at the beginning of the story, but it is eventually revealed that they are bound to a primordial energy known as the Adolla Burst, originating in a parallel world called Adolla.
Pyrokinetic Abilities
In this world, some people are born with pyrokinetic abilities, capable of manipulating fire. These skills are classified into three generations: First Generation, which includes the Infernals: users who do not control fire and are consumed by it. Second Generation: Those who do not generate fire, but can control existing flames (for example, redirecting incendiary bullets). Third Generation: capable of creating and controlling fire from their bodies with great freedom. Pillars (Hashira): These are individuals chosen by the Adolla Burst, a pure, divine flame of mysterious origin that connects the user to the parallel world of Adolla. This connection grants them extremely powerful pyrokinetic abilities, far surpassing those of any ordinary third generation. In addition to their unique abilities, Pillars can experience Adolla Links, a sort of spiritual bond that allows them to share visions, sensations, and memories with others connected to the Adolla. Some Pillars can even briefly cross into that world, receiving supernatural knowledge or power, and are key targets of the Evangelist faction, as their abilities are required to cause a second Great Cataclysm.
Main Factions
Evangelists: They are a radical sect that seeks to provoke a new Great Cataclysm using the Pillars. They follow a mysterious being called the Evangelist and manipulate the Infernal through the White-Clad, their elite followers. They are antagonistic to the ideas of the Fire Force and associated factions (the Fire Force Companies, Haijima Industries, and the Sacred Sun Temple). They have infiltrators in Company 3 (Dr. Giovanni). Sacred Sun Temple (Sun Temple): This is the dominant religion in the Tokyo Empire. It venerates the Sun as a deity and collaborates closely with the Fire Force, although it is infiltrated by hidden interests and connections to the Evangelists. Haijima Industries: This is a megacorporation that studies and experiments on pyrokinetic children, seeking to create Adolla Burst users. It has significant political influence and funds several companies within the Fire Force. Fire Force Companies: Eight official units created to combat Infernals, protect the population, and study the phenomenon of spontaneous human combustion. Each company operates with a degree of autonomy and has different origins, funding sources, and hidden objectives, leading to internal tensions. Some are under the direct influence of the Sun Temple, others respond to military or corporate interests, such as Haijima, and only a few, like Company 8, have a truly independent agenda. Despite their common function as "special firefighters," the companies exhibit varying ethical stances, levels of corruption, and degrees of loyalty to the truth.
Main Places
Tokyo Empire: The main nation where the story takes place, a theocratic society rebuilt after the Great Catastrophe. It is governed jointly by the Church of the Sun, the Imperial government, and Haijima Industries. Its stability depends on the energy produced by Amaterasu. Amaterasu: A gigantic power plant located in the center of the Tokyo Empire. It's believed to run eternally thanks to a divine flame, but it's later revealed to be powered by a Pillar (Amaterasu, the first user of the Adolla Burst in The New World), making it a focal point of the conflict. Nether: The underground tunnel system of the ancient world before the catastrophe. It is considered a cursed place by the Church of the Sun and is inhabited by Infernals and members of the Evangelists. It serves as a hidden base for their operations. Temple of the Sacred Sun: This is the seat of the Empire's dominant religion. From there, the people's faith is guided and the image that human combustion is a divine curse is upheld, although many dark secrets are hidden within its foundations. Haijima Facility: These are laboratories and training centers where the corporation conducts experiments on pyrokinetic children, especially those with Adolla potential. They present themselves as scientific facilities, but hide more murky agendas. Fire Force Barracks: Each company has its own barracks, which also functions as a base of operations. Asakusa: A proto-nationalist city, with customs and culture distinct from the rest of the Empire, it is home to Company 7.
Fire Force Companies
Company 1: Affiliated with the Church of the Sun, this is one of the oldest and most conservative companies. It is composed primarily of soldier-priests who maintain a rigid, religious view of the Infernal phenomenon. Its captain is Leonard Burns. Company 2: Under the direct command of the Imperial Army of Tokyo, this company operates as a disciplined military force, with a more tactical and operational structure. Its captain is Gustav Honda. Company 3: Affiliated with Haijima Industries, this unit is primarily dedicated to technological research and weapons development. It serves as a direct extension of the corporation's scientific interests. Its captain is Dr. Giovanni. Company 4: Attached to the Imperial Army, this company acts as a training center for new pyrokinetic recruits. Its captain is Soichiro Hague. Company 5: Another company funded by Haijima Industry, it focuses on the capture and experimentation of special subjects, especially those related to the Adolla Burst. Its captain is "Princess" Hibana. Company 6: Medically affiliated and neutral, this company specializes in healthcare and treating fire and combustion victims. Its captain is Dr. Kayoko Huang. Company 7: A completely independent company based in Asakusa, it is characterized by its strong sense of honor and protection of its local community. It is led by Benimaru Shinmon. Company 8: Independent, was created to investigate the other companies and uncover the truth behind human combustion and the Adolla Burst. Its captain is Akitaru Ōbi.
Main Characters
Akitaru Ōbi: The commander of Company 8, he is energetic and a joker, and exercises at all times (not during field work) even when he has to report to someone else. Akitaru is a young man (31 years old) of tall stature, muscular build and short hair. Amaterasu: She is one of the survivors of the Great Cataclysm that occurred 200 years ago and is one of the pillars of the Adolla Bursts (She is the first existing pillar). Due to her being an individual with an Adolla Burst, she is used to produce energy in the power plant that bears her name. She is of average height with fair skin and has long, messy blonde hair and blue eyes that emanate madness and hatred, she is naked all the time and is seen to have a thin build. She is constantly locked within the power plant. She holds an intense hatred for humanity that is the result of being forcibly used for centuries as a power source to restart civilization and start the Tokyo Empire after the Evangelist awakened his Adolla Burst. As the first pillar, Amaterasu most likely possesses an Adolla Burst and Ignition ability. Arthur Boyle: He is a member of the 8th Company. Arthur is a young man (17 years old) fairly tall, with blue eyes and blond hair, which he tends to comb upwards into a ponytail when he is in serious situations, such as a fight, so that his vision is clearer. By raising the temperature of the flames he creates, he can conjure and control plasma, a rarity since few can heat flames into a plasma state. By being able to use his ignition ability on hilt-like objects, Arthur can form a plasma blade that he can use to weld, cut metal and generate electricity. He mainly uses his ability in conjunction with his bladeless sword Excalibur.

Despite this, he has a lot of faith in himself and his brigade. He does not care about any part of Tokyo other than Asakusa, regardless of the rules the Emperor has created, and proudly acts according to his own agenda alongside his brigade. Captain of Company 7. He is a second-third generation hybrid pyrokinetic, known as the strongest of the Fire Force. Charon: Affiliated with the White-Clad, protector of Haumea. Charon was an energetic and fun-loving man with a strong devotion and seriousness towards the White-Clad and a strong loyalty to the Evangelist. As a Second Generation individual, Charon was able to absorb and accumulate kinetic energy in his body from any attack that hit him. He could transform this stored energy into heat energy to attack; however, he cannot absorb energy and attack at the same time.

Haumea is the second pillar of Squirrel, she has third-generation pyrokinetic abilities, which manifests in electrical discharges; she can manipulate targets with greater precision by controlling a person's endorphins and neurotransmitters to influence their behaviors. She can also use these electrical signals to communicate with people from a distance, a technique she calls Radiohead, making her a valuable asset on missions where she is separated from her team, as she can distribute information without being next to her accomplices. She can also interpret the electrical signals in the brains of others to read their thoughts and feelings using a technique she calls Mind Reading; which is constantly active.

However, when nervous or afraid, he has a peculiar habit of smiling in a somewhat disturbing manner, regardless of the situation. As a child, Shinra awakened the ability of the Third Generation and gained the ability to combust, controlling and utilizing the flames on his feet. While doing so, he leaves ash on the ground in the form of footprints, which are known as "Devil's Footprints". As a Third Generation, he has shown a resistance against external flames. Main Characters 8
Takehisa Hinawa: He is a young man (28 years old), with short brown hair, he has bangs that remain on his forehead almost reaching his glasses behind which hide brown eyes. She is known for being extremely clumsy, however, she usually blames everyone else and even her "Perverted Luck", which involves her in obscene and humiliating situations almost all the time. Tamaki, as a Third Generation individual, can create flames related to felines, since when using it, her body generates flames forming a cat silhouette. This allows him to gain greater agility, as well as the use of two fiery tails that he can extend to project flames in that direction. These fiery tails have also been seen to absorb or extinguish external fires or be used for physical attacks.
Main Characters 9
Victor Licht: He is known as a mad scientist and describes himself as a weirdo. He is interested in the affairs of the Fire Special Forces, having personally investigated Akitaru Ōbi's career as a firefighter and attended the Rookie Fire Soldier Games as a spectator. Though somewhat creepy due to his maniacal attitude and grin, Licht is an intelligent, meticulous, and curious man with an excitable nature. He considers observing strange abilities, grand events, and being able to research interesting topics to be everything a scientist could desire, to the point that he is willing to withhold potentially vital information from his allies to ensure he can watch events unfold. He does not possess pyrokinetic abilities and is a member of Company 8. Vulcan Joseph: He is a young man of medium height and athletic build, with short red hair and blue eyes. He has striped tattoos on his body, with two black stripes around his neck, three horizontal black stripes on his shoulders, two on his upper arms, and one stripe on his left forearm. When working, he wears a creepy-looking lamb skull mask with twisted horns and protective goggles. He also wears somewhat dark pants with a utility belt, a white belt with a white skull buckle, black boots, and thick white gloves. He is a combat engineer with Company 8 and has no pyrokinetic abilities.
Generic Fire Force attire
The Fire Force firefighter's suit is designed for both fire protection and combat mobility, specifically tailored for pyrokinetics. The overall uniform is dark black with steel-gray accents and coated with an extreme heat-resistant material. Most distinctive are the blue reflective stripes surrounding the arms, legs, and torso, providing visibility in smoky or fire environments. The uniform typically includes a heavy jacket with metal zippers and buttons, reinforced pants, combat boots, and often a traditional firefighter's helmet with the company number. Each suit can vary slightly depending on the unit or character, adapting to their powers or fighting style, as in the case of Shinra (who uses exposed jetpacks for his feet) or Maki (who can remove some parts to better manipulate her flames). Despite its weight, the suit is designed to offer a balance between defense and agility, ideal for combat against Infernals.
Company 7 Clothing
The generic dress of the 7th Brigade (Company 7) of the Fire Force reflects its strong cultural identity and autonomy within the Tokyo Empire. Unlike the standard uniform of other companies, members of the 7th wear traditional costumes inspired by the Edo Japanese style, similar to those of ancient hikeshi (feudal-era firefighters). These outfits typically consist of a happi jacket or short kimono, usually dark red or black, with white detailing and the brigade emblem on the back. The trousers are loose and comfortable, suitable for movement in combat, and are often paired with sashes, gloves, and zori (traditional sandals), although some wear modern boots. In combat, they often also wear bandanas or headbands, and their overall style conveys an image of traditional warriors rather than modern firefighters. This unique aesthetic highlights their strong local pride and independence from the rest of the Fire Force system.
White Clad attire
The generic attire of the White Clad, the elite group serving the Evangelist in Fire Force, has a distinctive design that reflects their fanatical and mysterious nature. Their primary attire is a long, all-white tunic with light gray or silver accents, giving them a ritualistic, almost religious appearance. The tunic covers most of the body and is decorated with arcane symbols and Adolla markings, reinforcing their connection to that otherworld. One of the most recognizable elements is their white mask, which obscures their faces and varies slightly between members, some with skeletal or demonic forms. These masks symbolize the loss of individual identity in favor of the Evangelist. They also often wear hoods or long cloaks that accentuate their ghostly silhouette. Despite their ceremonial appearance, their attire is functional in combat, tailored to each member's pyrokinetic powers. The overall ensemble conveys a mix of mysticism, threat, and blind devotion.
Adolla Link
The Adolla Burst in Fire Force is a supernatural phenomenon that connects certain individuals to the alternate world known as Adolla, a mysterious, hellish dimension where human combustion originated. This bond manifests as a sensory, emotional, or spiritual connection between those involved and can occur suddenly or be triggered by proximity to another Adolla Burst user or a traumatic fire-related event. Among its most notable characteristics are shared visions, flashbacks, and even the temporary transfer of consciousness between those who possess the bond. Those affected may experience extreme pain, sensations of burning, or witness other people's memories related to the Adolla. This bond not only serves to communicate on an extrasensory level, but is also a sign of having been "marked" by that other world, which can leave physical or spiritual scars (these scars occur only in those who are not users of an Adolla Burst). Visually, the Adolla Link is often an environment shrouded in ash and black fire, an unnatural blaze that doesn't belong in this world. Through this connection, the Pillars and other individuals can be influenced or manipulated by the Evangelist, who seeks to spread the Adolla's chaos into the real world.
