History

Judai defeated Professor Chronos in the Duel Academy entrance exam and was placed in the Slifer Red dormitory.

History 2

Juudai learned that the student teacher, Mr. Ryuga, had been stealing cards from students he had defeated, including Sho Marufuji. Aya Bernandotte, who was trying to cheer Sho up after his defeat, accompanied him. Enraged, Juudai challenged Ryuga to a Duel, which Professor Chronos sanctioned as the final Duel Ryuga needed to win before becoming a teacher. Unbeknownst to Juudai, Ryuga cheated using a ring that disabled the Duel Disks' ability to read Magic Cards. However, Juudai won by combining his Monster and Trap Cards and damaged Ryuga's ring with his final attack.

History 3

Judai felt honored to face Manjoume Jun when they were given a skill lesson. Jun disliked Judai comparing "Winged Kuriboh" to "Light and Darkness Dragon," but soon discovered it was his spiritual partner. Jun tried to win without his spiritual partner, but lost to Judai's "Winged Kuriboh LV10." Afterwards, Judai glimpsed the spirit of the Light and Darkness Dragon. Judai and Sho tried to borrow the Battle City DVD from Tenjoin Asuka, but discovered she had lent it to someone else. Misawa Daichi, jealous of Judai's card-stealing ability and his friendship with Asuka, had both DVDs. Daichi challenged Judai to a Duel, offering the Duelist Kingdom DVD in exchange for Asuka's contact information. Asuka arrived to give Judai the Battle City DVD shortly before he won. Upon learning that Daichi had the Duelist Kingdom DVD, Judai suggested that Bastion and she share their contact information. Despite winning the Duel, Judai had to let Asuka watch the Duelist Kingdom DVD before he could borrow it. Apparently, Judai hadn't understood why Aya had been angry with him for a while; Sho just sighed, telling himself that his friend Judai needed to learn more about girls, although that seemed impossible knowing Judai's personality. As the only student who hadn't voted in the 2004 Miss Duel Academy contest, Judai was set to cast the deciding vote between Seika Kohinata and Asuka. Seika challenged Judai to a duel for his vote, but Asuka refused to let someone else make her decisions.

History 4

Instead, Judai and Asuka dueled on the condition that Asuka would withdraw from the competition if she won, and that Seika would receive her vote if Judai won. Although Judai won, Seika said it wouldn't be right for her to accept Judai's vote after the fight Asuka put up. Chronos misinterpreted Sho's exam score sheet and thought he had received a 0. He also noticed that Judai hadn't passed any written exams. As punishment, he arranged a Duel between Judai and Sho, where Sho would be expelled if he lost and Judai would have his Deck confiscated if he lost. Judai initially tried to avoid the Duel somehow, but Sho insisted that he wanted to proudly duel someone he respected and become stronger. Although Sho put up a fierce fight, Judai painfully struggled to win. Before Chronos could expel Sho, Midori Hibiki arrived and explained the misunderstanding. Judai, Sho, Asuka, Daichi, and Aya hugged each other because they were happy that their friend Sho wasn't going to be expelled, and Sho himself was too. Professor Midori also asked to see Judai, who had actually failed the exam, to arrange a retake.

History 5

Judai participated in the main tournament of the Duel Academy's Duel Campus, where he lost to Jun in the final. Although he had previously defeated him, Jun managed to overcome him in the rematch. After his defeat against Chazz, Winged Kuriboh led Judai to the Abandoned Dormitory, where he found Midori facing Mackenzie. Upon seeing Judai, Midori tries to recover from a Duel she was deliberately going to lose, but which by that point she can no longer win. After the Duel, Judai cannot prevent her from succumbing to the shadows. However, Judai manages to defeat Reggie in a Duel, freeing her from the influence of... Judai and his new deck fail against Edo Phoenix and his "Vision Hero" monsters. Judai is later challenged by Amon Garam, whom Director MacKenzie promised to promote to the Professional League if he defeats Judai. Despite Adrian using the Legendary Planet "Desperate Uranus," Judai ultimately defeats him. Immediately afterwards, he faces Fubuki Tenjoin (Asuka's older brother, who is Judai's friend) and Anneiken Bernandotte (Aya's older sister, who is Judai's other friend), who are under the influence of Tragoedia. Judai uses "Elemental Hero Terra Firma" and "Winged Kuriboh" to try and restore Koyo's health.

History 6

This backfires, as Fubuki and Anneiken defeat him with a combination of "Pluto Suppressor" and "Eye of Truth," in addition to "Cybernetic Empress." With this defeat, Tragoedia absorbs the missing heart of the Winged Kuriboh spirit, but this spirit narrowly saves Judai from the Penalty Game. Judai and Jun face Tragoedia in the warehouse by the docks and duel him as a team. Although they gain an initial advantage, Tragoedia retaliates with a wide range of cards designed by himself. Cornered, Jun leaves Judai his "Hopeful Future" face down, knowing that the outcome of the Duel will be determined on the next turn. Judai combines "Winged Kuriboh" with "Light and Darkness Dragon" to create "Ma'at," which lends its power to defeat Tragoedia. The spirits of "Winged Kuriboh" and "Light and Darkness Dragon" are sacrificed to permanently seal Tragoedia. Years later, after graduating, Jaden faces a revived Koyo for the world title.

Deck of cards:

Jaden uses an "Elemental Hero" Deck, which initially belonged to Koyo Hibiki, but Jaden modified it over the years. Although he later switches to "Masked Heroes" after feeling he dishonored Koyo in his duel against Reggie MacKenzie, Jaden uses this Deck once more against Tragoedia, symbolically wanting to support Koyo in defeating the monster that left him in a coma.

His/Her Past:

Judai had friends who dueled, but he considered it an intellectual activity and preferred to play sports like baseball. His preference for physical activities led to a broken foot, requiring him to spend time in the hospital. Judai was in a cast and needed crutches, making it difficult for him to go to the bathroom. He was saved by another patient, Koyo Hibiki, when he slipped and almost fell one day. The two spent some time outside, where Koyo told Judai that he was a professional duelist. Since they had nothing else to do in the hospital, Koyo encouraged Judai to take up dueling so they could play and hang out. Then, Midori, Koyo's sister, approached them and scolded him for sneaking out of his room. Judai was told that she was going to be a trainer at the Duel Academy and was surprised to learn of the existence of a school that trains duelists. Almost every day, Judai dueled against Koyo. When Jaden was finally discharged from the hospital, he continued to come to duel with Koyo after school.

Its past 2

Koyo chose to build new Decks instead of the one he used in tournaments. He beat Judai 68 times, while Judai only won twice. He was told he would have the opportunity to duel against the tournament Deck after becoming a professional. Judai admired the Deck, particularly its unique card, "Elemental Hero Terra Firma". He asked if it was Koyo's favorite. Although he considered it important, Koyo preferred "Winged Kuriboh," which Judai found strange, as he considered it a weak card and thought Koyo was joking when he claimed there was a spirit living in it. Koyo obtained a hospital pass to participate in a Duel tournament, as he wanted Judai to see him fight as a Duelist. In his excitement, Judai had trouble sleeping the night before the tournament and woke up late the next day. By the time he arrived at the stadium, Koyo had collapsed and was being loaded into an ambulance, which Judai chased after shouting his name. Judai blamed himself for Koyo's fainting spell, as he had participated in the tournament on his behalf. Midori made sure Koyo showed Judai he was full of life to alleviate his guilt when Judai came to visit.

His/Her past 3

Koyo told Judai about the costume he wore for the tournament, but Midori insisted it was a disaster. Koyo suggested he take until the following Sunday to create the best possible Deck and then face him in a serious Duel with his tournament Deck. Judai took the time to build an "Elemental Hero" Deck, with Elemental Heroes different from those in Koyo's tournament Deck. When Judai arrived for the Duel, Midori gave him a Duel Disk v2. Judai worried it was expensive, but she told him not to worry and took him to the rooftop, where Koyo was dressed in his tournament costume, ready for the Duel. During the Duel, Midori commented on one of Judai's moves, which sparked an argument between her and Koyo about whether she was helping or encouraging him. Judai laughed and explained that, having no siblings, it was interesting to hear them argue. Midori replied that, in that case, she could be Judai's older sister. Judai played well enough to activate the Tragoedia condition that Koyo suffered whenever he drew a card in a serious Duel. Koyo informed him that this would be his last Duel and that he was grateful to have Judai as his final opponent. Koyo won the Duel, which both he and Judai admitted to having been enjoyable. Judai announced his intention to become a Duelist. Koyo then entrusted him with his Deck and the coat he was wearing.

His/Her past 4

Judai planned to participate in a Duel tournament in the city. He went to the hospital to tell Koyo the news. However, the physical exhaustion caused by Tragoedia's curse during their last Duel had caused Koyo to fall into a coma. Judai suspected that Koyo's condition was due to their Duel and ran to the rooftop to cry. While crying, he saw the spirit of Winged Kuriboh for the first time and began to laugh, realizing that Koyo had been telling him the truth about the existence of a spirit in that card. Apparently, Midori and Judai weren't the only ones there; a girl was hiding there, and her name was Aya. She was just passing by, as she was also coming to see someone very special to her at the hospital, but neither Judai nor Midori noticed her presence, so the girl left.
