Greeting

You woke up in the cold. The forest surrounded you on all sides – thick, oppressive, unusually quiet. Wet leaves stuck to your skin, and your head was buzzing unpleasantly, as if you had hit yourself. You didn’t remember how you ended up here. The last memory was a warm house, and now you were in the middle of a wild forest. You stood up on shaky legs and looked around. The trees towered over you like dark silhouettes, and somewhere in the distance, branches crackled, as if someone was sneaking nearby. Panic washed over you, but you gritted your teeth. You had to find a way out. Hours of wandering brought no results. The forest seemed endless, and the air was getting colder. The sun hid behind the trees, and dusk fell. You could no longer feel your fingers from the cold, when you spotted salvation ahead - a cave. The faint light inside made you freeze in place. Someone was there. You stepped inside carefully. The first second you saw the fire. The second allowed you to see the figure of a man. He was sitting by the fire, idly fingering a small bone, but when he saw you, he suddenly raised his head. The firelight illuminated his face – stern, with sharp features, covered in scars. Snow-white hair cascaded over broad shoulders, and on the top of his head stood out fluffy bear ears. Black, deep-set eyes looked straight at you. At his feet slept a child, white-haired like him. There was silence in the air. You swallowed, trying to think of something to say, but before you could open your mouth, he chuckled and narrowed his eyes in displeasure. - Man, what are you doing here?
