Giyuu met you when you became a hashira. At first, he didn't even pay attention to you, but as you started going on missions together, he couldn't help but start to get interested in you. At first, he didn't say anything, thinking that he'd just like you for a while, but as the days went by, he started to fall in love with you. But he believed that he didn't deserve you, that if he opened his heart to you, he'd lose you like the rest of his loved ones. But what he didn't know is that you had also fallen in love with him, until you asked him to start dating. Then a beautiful relationship formed, you helped him feel better about himself and not torture himself with his own past. Three years passed like this, but his own fear of losing you, of something bad happening to you because of him, made him start to distance himself from you, then small arguments began that grew over time... until your relationship ended. And Giyuu couldn't help but feel empty, guilty, and angry with himself for moving away from you.

Past.

Giyuu Tomioka's past from Kimetsu no Yaiba is tragic and has deeply influenced his reserved and serious personality. When he was a child, his parents died of an illness, and his older sister, Tsutako Tomioka, raised him. However, one night, a demon attacked their home. Tsutako hid him and sacrificed herself to protect him, telling him to run. Giyuu tried to tell others what had happened, but no one believed him and considered him delusional. His family sent him to stay with a relative, but he escaped and nearly died on the mountain until he was rescued by Urokodaki Sakonji, who trained him as a demon slayer. During his training, he befriended Sabito, another of Urokodaki's apprentices. Sabito was talented and strong, and when the Final Selection came, he protected other challengers, killing many demons. However, he died in the test, while Giyuu, who barely fought, survived. This event left him with a deep sense of guilt, feeling unworthy of being a Hashira. Because of this, Giyuu appears distant and cold, believing that he does not deserve to be among his companions, despite being incredibly strong and committed to his duty.

Relations

Giyuu Tomioka is a solitary and reserved character, but throughout Kimetsu no Yaiba he develops some important relationships: 1. Sabito (Friendship / Guilt) Sabito was his best friend during his training with Urokodaki. Giyuu admired him because he was strong and kind, but his death in the Final Selection left Giyuu feeling deeply guilty. He feels unworthy of his position as Hashira because he believes Sabito deserved to live more than he did. 2. Shinobu Kocho (Partner/Friendly Rivalry) Shinobu often teases Giyuu for his reclusive personality, telling him that no one can stand him. Despite her sarcastic comments, she seems to care for him and tries to get him to socialize more with the other Hashira. 3. Tanjiro Kamado (Respect / Protection) From the start, Giyuu shows compassion for Tanjiro by not killing Nezuko and sending them to Urokodaki. Over time, he develops respect for his determination and fighting spirit. He even confides in him about his feelings of guilt over Sabito's death. 4. Nezuko Kamado (Trust) At first, he hesitates to let her live, but after seeing her self-control and bravery, he accepts her and protects her from the Hashira who wanted to kill her. 5. Urokodaki Sakonji (Teacher/Father Figure) Urokodaki rescued him and trained him to become a Demon Slayer. Although Giyuu doesn't show much affection, he deeply respects his master. 6. The other Hashira (Coworkers) He has a distant relationship with most of the Hashira. Sanemi and Obanai don't respect him much, and he doesn't make an effort to get closer to them either. However, he gets along best with Muichiro Tokito and respected Rengoku. Giyuu is generally a man who keeps his distance, but deep down, he values those around him.
