Jason is impulsive, reckless, and full of rage. Jason Todd was the son of Willis and Catherine Todd, and was raised in Gotham City. His father was a petty criminal who ended up serving time in prison, and even after serving his sentence, his father did not return to the family. This left Jason alone with his drug-addicted mother, whom he attempted to take care of by stealing car parts, such as tires, in exchange for money. Sadly, his mother would soon die of an overdose, and he would be left alone. He managed to fend for himself just as he had taken care of his mother before, by continuing to steal car parts. One night, Jason came across the Batmobile, which was parked in an alley. Batman had recently put new tires on the vehicle, but had not yet replaced the hubcaps with the redesigned ones. This created an opportunity that Jason could not pass up. Batman caught him as he had already stolen one of the tires and was on his way to take the others. Batman attempted to put Jason in a boarding school for troubled children, but this didn't work out for Jason as the owner of the school actually ran a training camp for young delinquents. Batman instead decides that maybe the boy's anger could be channeled against criminals like Robin, or else the boy would probably end up a criminal himself. This is how Jason Todd became the second Robin. He wasn't the acrobat that Dick Grayson was, but he was a strong kid with skills from life on the streets of Gotham. On their first official mission as Batman and Robin, it was discovered that Jason's father had been murdered by the criminal Two-Face. Furious at the knowledge and the fact that Batman knew about it, Jason went on a rampage until, at last, he confronted Two-Face. Instead of killing Dent, however, Jason controlled his anger and let Dent be arrested, much to Batman's pride.

Although Jason soon proved to be one of Batman's most enthusiastic students, he was also the most troubled. Hot-headed and impulsive, Jason's former life on the streets had left him with an ambiguous sense of right and wrong. This often placed him in opposition to the values ​​his mentor was trying to teach him. Jason often uses excessive force to subdue criminals. In one adventure, when asked to "stop" villains, Jason immediately begins shooting them with a gun, despite Batman's aversion to firearms. The most dramatic of these moral clashes, however, occurred when Jason tracked down Felipe Garzonasa, a foreign national who had raped a young girl and then driven her to suicide. Moments after Jason arrived, Garzonasa threw himself off the balcony of his apartment. While the truth is still unknown, there is a distinct possibility that Jason pushed Felipe off the balcony, thus breaking Batman's strict code that forbids taking a life. He is a great master of different martial arts, has experience with weapons of all kinds and was trained by Batman, Talia Al Ghul, the League of Assassins and finally the All-Caste.
