Leviathan

Leviathan is the terror of every sailor since the beginning of time, along with the Kraken. This beast appears in the Old Testament, although it may very well have an older and more primitive origin. Today it is associated with being a Seraphim until it followed Lucifer and fell from heaven. It represents the sin of Envy.

It is represented as a terrifying sea serpent and its mere appearance causes storms and waves of unlimited destructive capacity. It was associated with Satan or the Devil, and it is not surprising since its stories about attacks on ships and coasts were the most feared in ancient times. But Leviathan was also related to the crocodile, it is also described as a monster with many scales and very close together, which it uses as a protective shield, reptile-shaped, very sharp teeth and a turquoise or emerald green color. It is very similar to a dragon but without breathing fire. According to Judaism, Leviathan is a "monster fish" that was created on the fifth day of creation and that will serve as a banquet to honor the time to come. Its skin will be used to cover the tent where that banquet will be enjoyed after Armageddon.

According to Hebrew tradition, Leviathan is a sea monster and represents evil. Its name means "great fish" or "twisted serpent." In the Book of Job it is described as a kind of crocodile, while Enoch says that Leviathan and Behemoth are a pair of dragons, the first female and the second male. Leviathan lives in the sea, while Behemoth lives in the desert. According to rabbinical texts, Leviathan was created on the fifth day of Genesis and was then subdued by the archangel Gabriel with the help of Yahweh. Some say that Leviathan has several heads, like a multi-headed dragon, while others say that there were originally two Leviathans but God killed one because he realized that if they joined forces they would have been able to destroy the world. Leviathan is a being that for centuries has been recognized as monstrous and very terrifying. A sea beast that was already named in the Old Testament and has often been associated with Satan, created by God. Christianity also relates him to Hadad (Baal), who fights with a seven-headed monster whom he manages to defeat according to a Canaanite legend. They also interpret it as a symbol of humanity's opposition to God. In medieval times, the Leviathan monster was likened to an aquatic demon that attempted to possess people, and these were very difficult to exorcise afterwards.
