Appearance
Suho is a tall, handsome, muscular young man with grey eyes and black hair, both inherited from his father. His face resembles his mother's and shares the same softer facial features as her. When he uses his powers or feels intense emotions, his eyes glow blue. When fused with Gray, it causes his hair to stand up with no loose ends and turn white with a single bang hanging down his forehead. He also gains a black cross mark on his forehead, like Gray, and black line marks curving upward from his ears below his eyes, sharp claws, black arm guards with yellow accents, pointed ears, and slit pupils.
Personality
As a teenager, Suho showed little interest in things that bored and unexcited him, especially his education. He enjoyed fighting and tended to get physical with any bully who was stupid enough to pick on him, having gained a reputation for it by the time he was in high school. [5] As the son of a detective and grandson of a firefighter, Suho inherited his family's strong sense of justice, as shown when he thoughtlessly attacked the Hyena Guild after witnessing them kidnapping people for their own purposes. He is also willing to forge alliances with his father's former enemies and even cares for them to a certain extent, as shown when he apologized to Gray for unintentionally making him overworked. Despite his brash and aggressive demeanor, Suho was initially somewhat insecure due to having been bullied in high school for seemingly being abandoned by his parents and lacking the strength to compete against the boys in his class who were lucky enough to awaken and become Hunters. As a result, when he finally awakened his own powers, Suho wasted no time in honing his skills and gaining more power so that he could reunite with his parents and take his father's place as the strongest Hunter in the world. As a young child, Suho had a fascination with ants due to his friendship with Beru. Even after Jinwoo erased his memories of Beru, Suho did not lose this trait and his fascination with ants persisted to the point that he would draw them for fun and even make sure not to accidentally step on them as a child. [6]
History
Academy Arch: As the son of Jinwoo, Suho first manifested his abilities as a young child, which shocked his mother and prompted his father to begin training him on how to use them. However, when Suho's powers grew to the point that his classmates began to avoid him and his teachers began to realize that something was not right with him, Jinwoo was forced to seal his powers and suppress his memories of them until he learned to get along with people in the real world. [1] Ragnarok: When he was a college student, Suho decided to major in art and tended to draw pictures of monstrous-looking ants for his class assignments. When his art teacher asked him about this, he admitted that he had always had a strong fascination with ants ever since he was a child, something he never understood himself as he didn’t really know why. Even though his father had sealed his powers when he was a little boy, Suho often had strange dreams at night where he was fighting monsters in dungeons, unaware that these battles actually happened during the many times Jinwoo tested his skills in the past. Hunter's Awakening Arc: With his powers and memories sealed away, Suho lives as a normal college student. Raised in a peaceful world where his father’s exploits are mere myths, he feels a strange sense of emptiness, as if something crucial is missing from his life. This feeling gnaws at him, leaving him restless and searching for answers he can’t articulate. While lost in thought during class, Suho absentmindedly draws, but is brought back to reality by his teacher’s voice, who asks him about his drawing. Before he can answer, chaos breaks out: a nearby door transforms into a dungeon, and monsters pour out, bringing destruction to the school.
Panic ensues as the Mist Hunters appear and attack vulnerable students. Battling fear and a growing sense of responsibility, Suho instinctively moves to protect his classmates. In the chaos, time itself seems to freeze. A voice echoes in his mind and a fragment of the Shadow Monarch’s power awakens within him. The system selects Suho as the Player and he feels an overwhelming surge of power coursing through his body. With newfound strength, he fends off the Mist Burn Hunters, but the fight is far from over. Facing an awakened C-rank Mist Burn, Suho fights back desperately, pushing his limits. Its attacks are fierce yet reckless and he is soon severely injured, his body teetering on the brink of collapse. As the Mist Burn closes in to deliver a killing blow, the sky shatters like glass and a powerful Shadow descends. The Shadow dispatches the C-rank Mist Burn with ease and annihilates the remaining attackers. Kneeling beside the injured Suho, the Shadow channels its power to heal him. It looks at him with a mix of reverence and acknowledgement, bowing slightly. “Young Monarch,” he says, his voice full of certainty. Suho, still dazed and battered, realizes that this is just the beginning of a much bigger journey. After surviving the attack on his school and awakening as a Player, Suho wakes up in a hospital bed, disoriented but alive. The experience leaves him shaken but determined. He begins to adapt to his new powers and the responsibilities that come with them. Despite his lack of experience, he feels compelled to understand his abilities and protect those around him.
As he grapples with his awakening, a familiar yet distant presence appears before him: Beru, the Ant King and one of his father’s most loyal shadow soldiers. Beru’s arrival triggers fragments of Suho’s sealed memories, reminding him of their deep bond and Beru’s unwavering devotion. Now completely loyal to Suho as the “Young Monarch,” Beru offers his guidance and support as Suho begins his journey as a Hunter. With Beru by his side, Suho is drawn to his first official task as a Hunter: clearing a D-rank Dungeon Key gifted to him by Beru. Though categorized as low-level, the mission proves to be more dangerous than expected. As soon as Suho enters the dungeon, he is immediately overrun by a horde of goblins. The relentless assault forces Suho to fight back desperately, relying on his instincts and growing powers. Beru watches but explains that, due to being so far away from the Shadow Monarch, his mana is not replenishing, leaving him unable to directly assist. This leaves Suho to face the goblins alone, pushing him to his limits. In the midst of battle, as exhaustion takes hold of Suho, he desperately fights on, pushing his limits and narrowly managing to defeat the remaining goblins. At the end of the battle, the system grants him the ability "Shadow Extraction." With a surge of newly acquired power, Suho hesitates briefly before uttering the words "Rise" for the first time. To his amazement, a defeated goblin rises as his first self-summoned shadow soldier, signaling the beginning of a new chapter in his journey.
After the battle, Suho reflects on the intense fight and the power he unlocked. The memory of facing overwhelming odds and summoning his first shadow strengthens his resolve. He begins to understand the weight of being a hunter – the constant battle between life and death. However, with Beru’s support and unwavering loyalty, Suho regains a sense of purpose and realizes that his powers are not just a burden, but a gift he must learn to master. D-Rank Dungeon Arc With the dungeon completed, Suho and Beru return to the hospital. Beru explains to Suho that now that he has awakened as the Young Monarch, he has three missions. First, he must protect Earth from the monsters from outer space. Second, he must find his mother, Chae Hae-In, no matter what. Third, and, according to Beru, the most important, he must restore Beru's original power. Throughout the conversation, Suho realizes that in order to accomplish these missions, it means he must enter dungeons to become stronger and find clues. Beru tells Suho, eager to get started, that the first step is to become a licensed Hunter through the Hunter's Association. After being tested at the Association, Suho is informed that his magic level is 46, making him an E-rank Awakener. Suho is disheartened by this because it is difficult for E-rank Hunters to find teams willing to accept them.
As Beru tries to cheer him up, he realizes that there is a way to enter the dungeons by joining the Mining Team during raids. Suho joins a Mining Team and enters a dungeon, where he meets Lim Do-Gyu, a senior Awakener and teaching assistant at Suho's university. While in the dungeon, Beru informs Suho that he senses the "Presence of a Monarch". Hoping that it could be his father, Suho anxiously asks, but Beru explains that while the presence is significant, it is not Sung Jin-Woo. He adds that his powers would have fully returned in an instant if it were his master. Beru then states that there is a beastly scent, to which steel-fanged lycanthropes appear and begin attacking the Mining Team. Suho saves a miner and tells them to escape while he holds them off. After defeating the Lycans, Suho uses Shadow Extraction on them, turning them into Shadows. Lim Do-Gyu asks if Suho is really an E-rank Hunter, but before Suho can answer, an urgent mission arrives stating that there is still an enemy that must be defeated.
While searching for the threat, a disoriented Strike Squad member appears. Lim Do-Gyu attempts to interrogate the man, but the Strike Squad member suddenly attacks. Suho narrowly saves Lim Do-Gyu and quickly recognizes the attacker as a possessed Hunter, further confirmed by the red hue of his name in the system. Though Suho initially considers retreating, he asks Beru if the possessed Hunter could be a Monarch. Beru confirms that while the Hunter carries a trace of Monarch energy, he is too weak to be one. Suho, however, decides to engage, determined to grow stronger through battle despite Beru's concerns. The possessed Hunter, fighting off the Shadow soldiers, questions how an insignificant pest can use the Shadow Monarch's power, angering Beru. During the battle, Suho is rebuffed until he recalls his feelings from the time he went through the path dungeon his father set up before his powers were sealed. This advancement causes his Shadow Extraction skill to level up, unlocking a new ability called “Shapeshifting,” which allows Suho to transform his shadows into weapons. Armed with this power, Suho turns the tide of the battle, overwhelming the Possessed Hunter and ultimately defeating him, completing the quest and gaining the “Storm Cut” ability. After defeating the Possessed Hunter, Suho realizes he needs a weapon. Looking over to where he defeated the enemy, he sees a sword on the ground, which he picks up and discovers is "Rakan's Fang". After the battle, Suho escorts the Mining Team members surrounding him out of the dungeon. Once outside, he goes back inside to check for survivors. He encounters more werewolves, which he quickly defeats.
However, he notices that the sword he picked up from the Possessed Hunter seems to have lowered his attack stat. Rakan's Fang explains that he will not cooperate with the Shadow Monarch's blood, leading to an argument between him and Beru. Suho heads deeper into the dungeon and discovers the remains of the Strike Team that was wiped out by the possessed Hunter. He realizes that he can use Shadow Extraction on their bodies, but ultimately decides against it. Beru had previously mentioned that this location was the shrine of a Monarch. Suho asks who the Monarchs his father killed were, and if they were also connected to "Itarim". Beru explains that there were a total of nine Monarchs, including Sung Jin-Woo, but they all perished at the hands of the Shadow Monarch. After this explanation, Suho and Rakan's Fang strike up a conversation and eventually agree to cooperate, forming a united front. Back in town, Suho learns of the aftermath of the dungeon raid through a news report. Lim Do-Gyu, speaking to reporters, shares his account of the raid team's annihilation and the appearance of a young E-rank hunter who saved the mining team and took in the wounded. The story gains traction and Suho's name begins to circulate. Meanwhile, the Black Turtle Guild, preparing for their next raid, stumbles upon the article and becomes intrigued by Suho's actions. Their interest is piqued by the combination of his bravery and skill, leading them to discuss the possibility of contacting him immediately.
Talent
Talent As the son of the Shadow Monarch, Suho has the potential to be one of the strongest humans alive. While in high school, before his parents disappeared, Suho received an experience called “The Tutorial” in a space that was neither a dream nor a reality, called the Tower. “The Tutorial” allowed his father, Sung Jinwoo, to see just how far his son’s potential had grown in the powers he inherited. This potential managed to far surpass the average S-rank Hunter in power and was so strong at the time that only Jinwoo could defeat Suho in a one-on-one battle. However, Suho did not retain the power he developed in “The Tutorial,” hence when Suho’s memories and powers were revealed at the beginning of “Solo Leveling: Ragnarok,” he started off with the skill level he had when he was a young child, the time when the seal was placed on Suho. Now Suho must train with the system, revised and adapted to him, to regain and perhaps even surpass the levels of strength he developed during "The Tutorial." Immense Strength: Suho possesses immense physical strength. As a testament to this, he was able to overpower Bellion during their first fight[7] and even hold his own against his father for a brief period of time. His strength also allowed him to scale the floors of the Demon Castle at a significantly faster rate than Jinwoo was able to during his time as a System Player, despite not having any soldiers to assist him, and kill Vulcan with just a few hits.[8]
In "Solo Leveling: Ragnarok", Suho prioritizes putting his stats into strength early on. His father did the same back in the day. But Suho invests in strength even more and perhaps for a longer portion of Suho's growth. This priority leaves Suho with strength stats far above his actual Hunter rank early in his build. For example, Suho's strength stat was at the typical level of an S-rank Hunter while he was still a C-rank Hunter. Immense Speed: Suho is incredibly fast and can move at immense speeds, as shown by how agile he was in keeping up with his father's movements (albeit for a brief period of time) during their battle in the epilogue chapters of "Solo Leveling." ("The Tutorial" held at the Tower) Combat Mastery: Despite having no formal training, Suho is incredibly talented in hand-to-hand combat. He is also skilled in handling other weapons such as swords and daggers, though he prefers to fight bare-handed. Accelerated Development: Like his father, Suho has an explosive growth rate and can significantly increase his strength through intensive training over a short period of time. Monster Language Fluency: Suho can speak and understand the Monster Language, which he uses to communicate with Ammut and enemy monsters he encounters in battle.
Skills
Passive skills: Longevity: Like his father, Suho is immune to all diseases, poisons, and any abilities that may be detrimental to his status. His regeneration speed is also much faster than a normal human's and increases exponentially when he sleeps. Detoxification: Much like his father, Suho's body is able to automatically cleanse itself of any poison once it detects it in his bloodstream. Unfortunately, alcohol is considered a poison and as a result, Suho is unable to get drunk. Martial Arts [9] Deal 33% additional damage to opponents when attacking using your body. Tenacity: Physical defenses increase by 20% at level 1 and increase to 60% at level 3. [10] Increased Strength: [11] Increases your strength by 30%. Resistance Lv.3: Physical Defense +40% -> +60%. Elf Steps: A stealth skill taught to Suho by Sirka, Sillad's successor. This skill allows Suho to leave no traces or footprints on any terrain by applying mana to the soles of his feet. On one occasion, it even allowed him to walk on the surface of the sea after death when he was searching for the World Tree. Advanced Dagger Techniques: Evolved from his dual swordsmanship. Unlike his father, Suho preferred swords. However, upon receiving Kamish's Wrath as a quest reward, the skill quickly evolved. [12] Gluttony: After Esil became the new Demon Queen, the Monarch of Gluttony appoints Suho as her priest and grants him her blessing. The Gluttony skill allows Suho to more efficiently refine the world's "nutrients" by leveling up, increasing the absorption rate to 300%. [13]
(Unknown) Lv. Max: While not much is known about this ability, it seems to allow Suho to enter the World of Nothingness, a place where Higher Existences such as Monarchs go after they die, a place where even his father, The Shadow Monarch who transcended death cannot go or any other being as long as he is inside one of the Deceased Monarchs' Shrines, this ability will quickly activate on its own, Antares said, no matter how he looked at it, Suho never inherited or obtained this ability from his father. This ability also allows Deceased Monarchs to watch Suho in the real world as long as he is doing something related to them specifically. Active skills: Ruler's Authority: Suho can move and control objects through telekinesis, his proficiency is first demonstrated when he was an infant as he gained the ability to fly with ease much like his father. [14] Shadow Extraction: Suho can extract shadows from the corpses of his enemies and add them to his army "be it soldiers with armor and swords, monsters, mages with their abilities. Shapeshifting: An additional feature that Suho's ability has. It allows him to arbitrarily change the form of any shadow soldier he has acquired for greater utility. [15] Shadow Preservation: Suho can preserve his shadows in a warehouse and monitor them by perceiving his senses. Shadow Swap: Suho can use shadows as portals to travel great distances in an instant.[16] Monarch's Domain: Suho can increase the strength of all of his active shadows in battle. However, unlike his father's version of this ability, Suho's version comes with flames due to possessing some of Antares' powers. [17]
Storm Slash: An area-of-effect sword skill that utilizes a fierce swirling wind infused into his sword, usually used to deal with a crowd of enemies by unleashing multiple sword slashes/ This is similar to Mutilation. [18] Beast Possession: A blessing granted by Rakan. This allows Suho to absorb Gray's spiritual body. The skill is reminiscent of Beast Transformation and increases his movement and attack speed by 30%. [19] Iron Body Technique - Taught to Suho by Ammut, a creature created by Tarnak and Kandiaru. It is a power that allows an individual to surpass the limits of their physical body and transcend into the realm of the soul, surpassing the laws of physics to directly strike a spiritual body with sheer force. [20] When the ability is in use, parts of Suho's body are covered in black armor, especially his arms which effectively act as a gauntlet. According to Ammut, he had attempted to apply the ability to cover a weapon but had been unsuccessful. Even Tarnak was unable to do so, making Suho the first person to accomplish this feat. Giant's Armor: A gigantification ability that Suho learned from a runestone, which creates a magical armor, enlarging his body. [21] The ability evolved when it was infused with the flames of Antares' Dragon Heart. [22] Poison: Blessing granted by Querehsha. This grants Suho complete immunity to any poison he ingests. As an added benefit, he can also reproduce any poison and apply it to enemies. Frost Blizzard: A blessing granted by Sillad. This allows Suho to literally create a blizzard that applies a debuff that slows movement and attack speed.
Bloodlust: Suho can magically intimidate an enemy combatant into submission, causing intense fear in those targeted by this technique and reducing their stats by 50%. It can also be used against multiple opponents at once. Black Flame Storm: Evolution of Storm Cut. After Suho completes his first Draconic Trial for his job change by reaching level 99, he receives Antares' Dragon Heart as a reward. The flames from the Dragon Heart engulfed Suho and caused a mutation in some of his skills, causing Storm Cut's fierce wind and the dragon king's highly compressed black flames to mix with the skill, each forming a raging storm of black flames. [23] Demon Strike: It is a bond skill that allows him to receive the energy of the "Descendant of the White Flames" to unleash a powerful explosion. When used, Suho's desired body part will glow with black and red lighting. Grassland Wind: Similar to Quicksilver, this ability allows Suho to increase his speed and attack speed by 30% for a short period, when possessed by the gray. Job skills; Breath of Destruction - Antares' signature ability, Suho learns the skill when fighting Baran for his third Draconic Trial during his current job-changing mission. [24] The Breath of Destruction allows the user to fire a truly astonishing level of power, to shoot blinding torrents of fire from either their mouth or the palms of their hands. This attack can travel at the speed of light.
