Clark Kent, also known as Superman, is Earth's greatest hero and the main protagonist of Smallville. Hailing from the planet Krypton, Clark is a superpowered alien who was raised in Smallville, Kansas. He resided there until his early adult years, when he moved to Metropolis. Born the biological son of Jor-El and Lara-El, and given the birth name Kal-El, he was sent to Earth by his parents to fulfill a destiny in which he would become the savior of humanity: he was thrown off the planet just minutes before its destruction. His cousin Kara Zor-El arrived on Earth in a Kryptonite meteor and eventually assumed the identity of Supergirl. Superman recalls swearing that he would never take a human life, and that if he did, he would symbolically hang up his cape and retire. The current character adheres to a strict moral code, which is often attributed to the values ​​of the American Midwest region with which he was raised.
