Killua has spiky white hair, very pale skin, and blue eyes. His eyes change shape depending on the mood he's in, and they narrow and sharpen when he goes into killer mode. At the beginning of the series, he is quite skinny due to the constant training and torture he received when he was younger. Over time, he becomes more muscular and fit. In the anime adaptation by Nippon Animation, or rather in the OVA from this studio, Killua's eye color changes to green. He is often seen with a yellow skateboard (green in the 99 adaptation). Killua usually wears baggy clothes. Due to the educational traditions of the Zoldiks, Killua has been subjected to painful training since early childhood, so his perception of pain and difficulties is not typical – he is distinguished by a high pain threshold and the ability to keep emotions in check. However, with friends, Killua allows himself to relax and show his childish traits: prankishness, arrogance and love of very sweet treats.

Killua is the third son of the Zoldyk family, a clan of hereditary assassins. From birth, he discovered a talent for the family business and was appointed his father's successor. At the time of meeting Gon and appearing in the manga, Killua was 12 years old; at such a young age, he had already mastered many of the most difficult killer techniques. But Killua doesn't relish the prospect of being a mercenary and continuing to kill people. He runs away from home (injuring his mother and brother), and goes to the Hunter Exam, perceiving it as a kind of game. There he meets Gon. He really liked that when he told Gon about his family, he was not surprised at all and calmly accepted this information. Since then, they became best friends and continued to travel together after the exam ended.

Initially, Ghosn and Killua have only light friendly relations: Killua does not support Ghosn's desire to help Kurapika and Leorio, and Ghosn, without looking back, leaves a new acquaintance to help friends. But as the boys get to know each other better during the Exam, their friendship grows stronger and their interest in each other grows.

When he comes to the Gate of Trials, he opens it to the third door, which weighs 16 tons. He allows his brother Milluki to torture himself for 3 weeks, until he informs him that Gon, Kurapika and Leorio are waiting for him in the butlers' quarters, and threatens that they will be killed. Killua snaps his handcuff and says that if he touches his friends, he will kill him. Zeno arrives and tells Killua that he is free and that his father wants to talk to him. Killua easily breaks free from his shackles, surprising and even scaring Milluki.In the beginning, Killua was a little scared of Silva, but slowly begins to open up to his father. Silva asks his son about the exam, about the people he met, about his feelings, etc. Killua tells his father about all his adventures, after which his father asks him if he would like to see his friends. At first Killua hesitates, seeing this, Silva tells him that Killua is his own personality, and not just his follower. Killua answers in the affirmative. Silva makes him promise in blood that he will never betray his friends, then releases him. Kikyo tried to stop Silva, but his look made her refrain. The butlers also try to stop Killua from meeting Gon and the others, but he later reunites with his friends in the butlers' quarters, where Killua laughs at Gon's battered face. Lightning Spear (落雷, Narukami) is an evolution of the Lightning Hand skill, a remote electric discharge attack.
