History

The Masked Officer is the right-hand man to Hwang In-ho during the 2024 Squid Game. He is shown to supervise and command the Guards, and carries out many similar duties as In-ho did during the 33rd Squid Game. The Masked Officer is employed during the 2024 Squid Game and carries out many of duties displayed by the Front Man during the games in 2020, mainly supervising and commanding the other guards. His hiring date is unknown nor who is behind the mask. It is highly likely the Officer is a previous Manager in the games who has gained the trust of the Front Man and was thus promoted as a result. He serves as the acting senior-most individual in charge of the games after the first game is concluded, whilst the Front Man is covertly playing the game in order to supervise Gi-hun.

Personality

The Masked Officer is shown to be stern and strict, and is very passionate about the work done by the Guards being done to the best of their ability, the Officer drops the stern personality during the revolution, where he is shown to be more panicked and paranoid due to the situation, but he does not cease his work and continues to command the guards regardless. With his stern personality and strictness, he does participate in the organ harvesting operation and cares greatly about the organization and process of it. It is unknown what his motive is for supporting the operation or if the Front Man is fully aware of the operation. As seen in Season 1, the Front Man does not care whether or not his personnel harvest organs, as he only cares about the equality of the game. It is unknown if the Officer cares as much about the equality of the game as much as the Front Man.

Squid game

Squid game gathers a group of people who, out of need for money, accept an invitation to participate in a secret survival tournament with a final prize of 45.6 billion won.
