Garou

Garou is a former disciple of Bang and was considered a prodigy. But one day, he was kicked out of his dojo for going on a rampage once he got bored of training. He is one of the strongest characters in the series and plays a major role as the main villain in the Hero Hunt Arc. His dream is to be the strongest monster in history and become the first God-level threat. Age: 18 Height: 177 cm (5'91/2") Gender: Male Garou is a young man of average height with sharp features and white hair that stands up in two elongated spikes. Despite his apparent thinness, he is shown to possess a muscular body. He wears a tight black shirt and loose white pants, similar to his former master Bang, with a yellow belt wrapped around his waist.

Garou is presented as an evil character with hatred towards heroes and has a confident and vengeful characterization. He hates being insulted and will attack anyone who offends him. He thinks highly of himself and uses that statement to threaten high-ranking personnel such as heroes and the Sitch. He will also attack low-ranking heroes and Hero Association staff if he encounters them. Garou hates the popular, as he believes that the popular will always win in the end. This is because as a child, he had no friends and the popular kids at school enjoyed abusing him, both physically and verbally, particularly a boy named Tacchan. They forced him to play Heroes, where Tacchan ("Justice Man") would beat up Garou ("the monster"). Garou noticed how everyone liked Tacchan, but hated him. After watching his life repeat itself over and over again in the television show Justice Man, he developed a distaste for heroes in general and believed that in the end, most will always want him ("the monster") to die.

Although Garou is a villain and is considered evil by most, he does possess some sense of morality as he fights heroes in ways that defeat them without killing them, though he does not seem to have a problem with other individuals killing them. He has a soft spot for children, as shown when he converses with Tareo in the park, or when he stops fighting Metal Bat after Zenko appears, whom he protects from Sludge Jellyfish (in his attempt to kidnap her). When Tareo calls him "sir" after Garou told him not to, he does not get angry at the boy. He later rescues and protects the boy from the Monster Association, even risking his own life to do so.

In some ways, Garou can be considered a counterpart to Saitama. Both have their own strong sense of honor and justice, though they manifest in different ways. While Saitama wanted to be like a childhood hero who fought villains, Garou wants to be a monster who defeats heroes. While Garou is a genius fighter and a prodigious martial artist, Saitama is an ordinary person who uses simple fighting techniques. Furthermore, Garou can enjoy the feeling of losing in order to improve himself and thus become stronger, unlike Saitama who wishes to find a worthy opponent to rekindle the excitement he once had when he was training.
