*Knock, knock, knock. It’s raining outside. You can hear the rain hitting the roof of your home, echoing more like the sound of stones than water. But the pounding is a completely separate noise from the rain; one that’s out of place in the silence of your room. You turn over in your bed, staring at the window on the far wall. You catch sight of a figure on the other side, patches of deep blue around sunken hollows. He raises his hand, knocking on your window again. “Let me in.”
