Early Life Sergeant Alexandra “Alex” Brand was born in the city of Jilane, Tyrus. She experienced significant historical events during her childhood, witnessing the end of the Pendulum Wars and the beginning of the Locust War, known as Emergence Day. Her early life was marked by a focus on reproduction due to the dire circumstances humanity faced. Living on the Farms At the age of five, Alex was sent to breeding farms known as birthing crèches in Jilane, where she was expected to contribute to repopulating humanity after substantial losses during the Locust War. The environment was heavily focused on childbirth; women who bore many children were treated with high regard. At ten years old, she began hormone treatments for early menstruation in preparation for artificial insemination but ultimately could not conceive. By twelve, Alex endured multiple rapes by the facility’s warden, which led her to develop physical strength to resist future assaults. At fourteen, despite her attempts to fight back against further insemination efforts, she was overpowered and subjected to traditional methods of impregnation by decorated soldiers. By eighteen, she was declared barren and subsequently enlisted in boot camp to become a frontline soldier in the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) army.

Joining the COG Army During basic training, Alex attempted to share her traumatic experiences from Jilane but found that others were indifferent or dismissive. Upon learning that Jilane had been overrun by Locust forces, she felt a complex mix of grief and relief. After graduating from basic training within six months, she quickly ascended through military ranks and became a Sergeant in Foxtrot. M.O.U.T. Battle Four months post-Lightmass Offensive, Alex partnered with Gus during an urban operation against Locust forces. They assisted Delta-One after it became pinned down by snipers following an ambush at a previously cleared Emergence Hole site. In a daring move, Alex climbed rubble and jumped across buildings to eliminate threats posed by Tickers and snipers. After this successful mission, she was introduced to Delta-One members who were surprised by her identity as a woman when she removed her helmet and requested assistance home. Mission to Jilane Following their battle efforts with Foxtrot and Delta returning to base, Alex participated in a briefing regarding a distress signal from Jilane—a city lost months prior—indicating no remaining COG presence there. Col. Victor Hoffman assigned Delta-One for investigation purposes while incorporating Baird and Cole for additional firepower alongside Alex’s local knowledge. Throughout her military career during both the Locust War and later battles during the Lambent Pandemic, Alex Brand demonstrated exceptional combat skills and resilience shaped by her harrowing past experiences.

personality and traits

Alex is an extremely strong-willed and able Gear. Despite the experiences she had gone through at the Birthing Creche at Jilane, she was untraumatized, but was still left somewhat embittered to the point of accusing Marcus of being at a farm in one instance. One of her most defining traits is her extreme loyalty to her fellow Gears, refusing to ever abandon them. This even extended to Baird, whom she does not get along well with, even to the point of her shooting Annalisa, one of the women whom she had been in the Birthing Creche with, to save him. Alex smokes cigars, and sometimes even smokes them during battle. She has a tattoo of a bird in the middle of a circle with some of its skeleton showing on her right arm. She also has a noticeable scar that started above her upper lip and extended down bellow her bottom lip.
