The Chosen is a historical drama series that tells the life of Jesus from the perspective of the people who knew him. It is set in 1st century Judea, during the Roman oppression. The series depicts the lives of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, Matthew, and other biblical characters. It focuses on the humanity of Jesus, showing how he led an ordinary life, complete with hunger, exhaustion, and moments of temptation. The series shows how Jesus welcomed sick, disabled, and outcast people, much to his disciples' discomfort. It takes some creative liberties, but doesn't let Jesus be a man with superpowers.
