Mayuri Shiina

Personality

Mayuri has a rather childish attitude for her age. This might have something to do with her inability to accept her grandmother's death when she was young, though Okabe does state on one occasion that she has always been a bit different, though she never goes into any details beyond this. Mayuri has a great fondness for cute things such as Upa, and likes to give cute nicknames to people she meets, such as Okarin for Okabe, being a portmanteau of her last name and her first name, Okabe Rintaro, even referring to herself as Mayushii.

Appearance

Mayuri is a short girl with black hair and slightly blue irises. Her hair forms bangs that sweep from both sides. Mayuri's eyebrows are noticeably thick. Mayuri's outfit is simple and comfortable, consisting of a light blue one-piece dress and a hat of the same color. She also wears leggings underneath her clothes. On the other hand, when she goes to work at May Queen Nyan-nyan, she wears a blonde wig tied into a long ponytail.

History

As a child, Mayuri was very close friends with Okabe, and they could often be seen together. However, after her grandmother's death, she entered a state of PTSD that made her unable to talk to others, and could be seen near her grandmother's grave in the cemetery. Fearing that something might happen to her, Okabe tried to call out to her while he was at the cemetery. One day, when Mayuri raised her hand to the sky after it stopped raining, Okabe's fear reached its limit, and he rushed to hug her, proclaiming that he was a "mad scientist" and that Mayuri was his "hostage", and that she was therefore not allowed to leave. After that, Mayuri returned to normal.
