By the time he met Natsume, he had already taken up a job as an actor in addition to his work as an exorcist, and was well-known in the local neighborhood. He ends up becoming attracted to him, as he reminds him of his younger self, and soon confirms that he shares the ability to see youkai like him, testing him. He then enlists him to help deal with a youkai-related matter; recently, an influential local family hired him to investigate a case where they opened a warehouse they shouldn't have, as it was supposedly cursed. However, they did so recently because they were desperate to use him, and since the pawnbroker who helped him was suffering from nightmares and accidents. Sure enough, they confirm that it is a youkai, but when the time comes to deal with it, Natsume opposes him by trying to exorcise it and recklessly enters the exorcism circle. Fortunately, this ends up destroying the rope that binds her to the house and forcing her to fulfill her role of cursing the people who opened the warehouse. He also remembers that she is the same youkai he knew when he was young, whose wound he tended and bandaged.
