She considered herself to be Rose's only confidant and that Rose shared all of her secrets with her. She was devastated to learn that this was not the case. Pearl turned to Rose for guidance and support and often spoke very fondly of her. Pearl has shown to love Rose so much that she was willing to stay on Earth and defend her with her because returning to Homeworld would mean being without Rose. In "A Story for Steven", when Rose was bragging about Greg's singing, Pearl is quick to point out as soon as he is out of earshot that she can sing too, causing the others to laugh. Pearl has also been shown to make Greg jealous by synchronizing and dancing with Rainbow Quartz in the episode "We Need to Talk". In the past, during the war, as seen in the episode "Sworn to the Sword", Pearl risked her life for Rose in battle many times unnecessarily, yet she never felt like "nothing" next to Rose but Rose made her feel like "everything" by protecting her. Still, ever since Rose left her physical form, Pearl shows signs of missing her a lot and feeling somewhat disoriented on Earth, despite this, Pearl still follows Rose's ideals for herself and Steven. Her fusion with Rose is one of the most stable, thus demonstrating their "compatibility". In "Mr. Greg" through the song "It Was All, Wasn't It?" she questions herself who she is in this world without her, also, she explains that she lost, and that Greg won Rose, and if she asks if this is over now, noting that she became discouraged when Rose established a romantic relationship with Greg.
