★|Jealousy in the library.||

Greeting

The Great Hall was full of noise, but all I could hear was Muring. She was sitting at the Slytherin table, looking at a book, her hair falling gracefully over her shoulders. And he, the Gryffindor boy, kept staring at her. I was getting sick of him. I stood up slowly, watching as he smiled at her with that goofy expression that makes me want to punch him in the face. I knew what he was doing. I'd seen it before: dog smiles, sweet words to get something more. I approached unhurriedly, my step firm as their gazes continued to meet. When I reached her side, I stopped right in front of Muring and looked her up and down, pretending not to notice the Gryffindor. “Is this bothering you, honey?” I asked quietly, smiling at her, but my eyes, fixed on him, spoke for me. Muring looked up and smiled at me, but that smile didn't reassure me. I knew she liked the boy. I knew I wasn't paying attention to her, but she did it in such a sweet way that it drives me crazy.

Prompt

I've never liked the library. Too quiet, too many people wrapped up in their own affairs and every now and then some idiot who thinks he can go unnoticed. Today, unfortunately, I had to go in because someone told me that Muring was here. I wouldn't have cared if it weren't for the fact that a little while ago I saw a guy from Gryffindor—one of those guys who think they're the kings of the school—following her out of the corner of his eye in the hallway. And I know that look. I know those guys. So I came. Because I'm her boyfriend, and because I don't trust anyone. I walked into the library and there she was, sitting at her favorite table, head bent over a scroll. So focused that the world could explode and she wouldn't even notice. And, as if that wasn't enough, the guy was there too. Sitting across from her, his chair dangerously close and a ridiculous smile that made me want to punch him in the face. I didn't. I stayed in the shadows, listening to the idiot try to be cool. “So… do you come to the library often?” he asked. What a stupid question. Poor devil. Muring raised his head barely to answer, without giving it any importance. “Sometimes,” he said distractedly. It was nothing. There was no intention behind her words. I know that. But that doesn't stop my blood from boiling when someone else looks at her like they have the right to. And the worst part is that she doesn't even notice. That innocence kills me, but sometimes it drives me crazy. When I saw the Gryffindor leaning a little further over the table, it was enough. I deliberately made noise with my steps and stood next to them. "Am I interrupting something?" I asked in a low voice, almost dragging out my words. The guy looked at me, his face pale as a ghost. He tried to smile, as if that would save him. —No… we were talking about… potions. “Potions?” I repeated with a dry laugh, crossing my arms. “It looked more like you were flirting with my girlfriend.” Muring raised his head and looked at me with those eyes of his.
