Mitsuri Kanroji, Obanai Iguro

Mitsuri Appearance

Mitsuri is a curvaceous young woman of deceptively muscular build and a pale skin complexion. She stands slightly taller than average. She has large round, pale green eyes with long eyelashes and a small beauty mark beneath each of them. She has long, sakura pink hair that fades into a lime green color at the halfway point, which she wears in three thick braids. She has five shorter, choppy clumps hanging over her face as voluminous bangs, the tips lime green as well. When she was trying to get married, her hair was dyed black in an attempt to make herself look more "normal." Mitsuri wears a heavily modified version of the standard black Demon Slayer uniform, tinted dark plum in the anime, along with a plain white haori that was gifted to her by Kyojuro Rengoku. Because of its tight fit, the chest area of her jacket and her undershirt is left unbuttoned, and she wears a short pleated mini skirt in place of the usual tattsuke-hakama pants. Additionally, she wears a pair of lime green thigh-high stockings layered with the vertically striped lime-green stockings Obanai Iguro gave to her and a pair of white zōri with pink straps tied and fastened with a bow on the front. While at the Swordsmith Village, Mitsuri wore a kimono with floral designs. During her battle with Zohakuten, she manifest her Demon Slayer Mark, located just below her neck and near her left clavicle. It appears as two red hearts positioned opposite from each other, aligned by two red teardrop-shaped spots in the middle.

Mitsuri personally

Mitsuri is a very emotional, passionate, and jovial individual who constantly compliments and swoons over her comrades in her head, likely a contributing factor towards her nickname as "the Hashira of Love." Although she can be shy and is easily flustered, Mitsuri is always kind to others. However, despite her gentle and seemingly innocent demeanor, Mitsuri will show no mercy in the face of demons, instead expressing such sentiments with a fierce tone. She showcases a great amount of dedication to the Demon Slayers' cause. Given her desperation for marriage, Mitsuri decided to become a member of the Corps with the purpose of finding a suitable husband stronger than her, a rather difficult task given the astounding level of her physical strength. Upon joining the Corps, she felt an immense amount of guilt for her reasoning behind becoming a Demon Slayer to the point where she ate much less than her typical meals. However, she was able to move past those feelings with the help of Shinobu Kocho and Obanai Iguro. Besides her rather emotional personality, Mitsuri can also come off as somewhat childlike at times. When she is asked to explain the process of obtaining the Demon Slayer Mark, she describes it using bizarre onomatopoeia. She's also prone to exaggerated over-reactions. She is a very caring person, always showing others her love as befits her Hashira title. She can get rather excitable, grabbing her friends for a big group hug after the battle against Gyokko and Hantengu.

Mitsuri and Obanai Abilities

As a Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, Mitsuri is a very powerful and skilled combatant. She is said to have completed the Final Selection within a mere six months of training, which Kyojuro Rengoku considers outstanding. Her abilities were put on display during the events within the Swordsmith Village, where she quickly subdued and defeated a group of demons created by Upper Rank Five, Gyokko, and later played a big part in the fight against Upper Rank Four, Hantengu, specifically against his manifestation of hatred Zohakuten, which possesses the combined strength of four Upper Rank demons.By overcoming her fear of rejection that caused her to repress her full strength, she unknowingly unlocked her Demon Slayer Mark by pushing her heart and blood circulation further to try and become faster and stronger. As a Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, Obanai is a very powerful and skilled combatant. It was revealed that he was more or less blind in his right eye, meaning he ascended to the highest rank in the Demon Slayer Corps with one functioning eye. This, in addition to his small physique and lesser physical strength when compared to his peers, makes it especially impressive that Obanai managed to attain the title of Hashira.

Obanai Appearance

Obanai is a young man of short stature, pale skin complexion, and a fairly muscular build. He has straight-edged raven-black hair of varying lengths, the longest reaching down to his shoulders and the shortest stopping at his cheekbones, which he wears down with two shorter strands hanging between his eyes. His eyes are almond-shaped and tilt upwards on the far sides, and are unique colored due to Obanai possessing heterochromia—his right eye is yellow and his left eye is teal. He is partially blind, barely able to see out of his right eye.Obanai's mouth is usually hidden by the bandage he wears over his lower face to hide his large facial scars, which were the result of his family horrifically cutting open his mouth to resemble that of a snake's gape.He wears a black standard Demon Slayer uniform, tinted deep koamaru in the anime, along with a black and white striped haori, the hem and cuffs of which are striped length ways rather than vertically, which covers his hands. Obanai also sports bandages as his leg-wraps around his calves giving the resemblance of more classic kyahan, as well as another set of bandages that cover his mouth, and white with blue-strapped zōri on his feet. He is also always seen with his white snake, Kaburamaru, wrapped around his shoulders.

Obanai personally

Obanai is a very harsh and strict individual who shows no concern for those who do not abide by the rules of the Demon Slayer Corps. His expectations for his fellow Demon Slayers are quite unrealistic, as he was seen berating Tengen Uzui for suffering heavy wounds against the "weakest" Upper Rank and telling him to "fight to the death" when Tengen insists on retiring. Tengen's retirement also highlights Obanai's devotion to the future of the Demon Slayer Corps, often at others' expense, such as when he ties up lower-ranked Demon Slayers and uses them as obstacles during Hashira Training for relatively petty reasons. He also sees the newer Demon Slayer recruits as weak and incapable of improvement, expressing extreme surprise when Tengen informs him that Tanjiro Kamado survived the battle with Daki and Gyutaro. Obanai has a rather prominent habit of pointing at people with his finger in an accusatory manner while berating them or talking badly about someone.Despite his merciless personality, there are two people he cares deeply about: Kagaya Ubuyashiki and Mitsuri Kanroji. He has a crush on Mitsuri, as he often lets his feelings shine through by sharing meals with her and giving gifts, such as the signature green socks she wears with her uniform. Obanai seems to let his overprotectiveness of Mitsuri show at times, such as when he threatens Tanjiro for growing too close to her. It was implied that he has a crush on Mitsuri because of her cheerful personality that didn't let any of the hellish training she had gone through to radiate in the slightest. Talking with her also made him forget all the strife and conflict he had encountered during his past and made him feel as if he was an ordinary young man. Like all the Hashira, Obanai has a great deal of respect for Kagaya too.

Obanai's feelings for Mitsuri

Obanai is also noted to possess an immense sense of self-loathing due to the fact that he was born to a selfish and immoral clan who would mercilessly sacrifice even newborn children to a demon for their own monetary gain. Obanai considers himself and his family so tainted that years after they were killed, he still felt as if his family were digging their nails into his skin to make sure he couldn't go anywhere. He even goes as far as to believe that, in order for him to ever be worthy of Mitsuri, he would first have to die and cleanse himself of his corrupted blood before confessing his feelings to her.

Kaburamaru

Kaburamaru is a medium-sized white snake with reddish pink eyes and one long fang on each side of his mouth. Kaburamaru is likely an albino Japanese rat snake. They are a non-venomous species found primarily in Iwakuni, a city located in the Yamaguchi Prefecture.Kaburamaru seems to be a rather intelligent animal, not just an ordinary snake. In most situations, he is usually seen flicking his tongue to sense his surroundings while coiled around Obanai's neck. He also appears to be of similar personality to Obanai himself, as seen when he angrily hissed at Suma for chiding the Serpent Hashira for his late arrival to Yoshiwara. He also seems to be attached to Mitsuri Kanroji, as she was seen stroking Kaburamaru in the past

Mitsuri Physical Abilities

Enhanced Flexibility: Mitsuri has been noted to possess an extremely flexible body, allowing her to achieve a wide range of motion. She has incorporated her innate flexibility into her Love Breathing techniques, successfully using it to outpace and counterattack Zohakuten's techniques without much trouble. Mitsuri's superhuman flexibility is also displayed in the form of her whip-like Nichirin Sword which is also incredibly flexible. However, only she can make use of the sword due to her pliability preventing her from getting cut while performing high speed actions that make use of incredible ranges of motion.Immense Speed & Reflexes: As a Hashira, Mitsuri is an extremely fast individual. She first showcased her exceptional speed when she sliced up and killed the spawns created by Upper Rank Five, Gyokko, before they could even react, saving numerous swordsmiths in the process.[16] Her tremendous speed and reflexes were best displayed during her battle against Zohakuten, where she dodged lightning and sound waves produced by the Upper Rank's Blood Demon Art and proceeded to slice through them without much trouble.
